News spreads in the capital of "Ye Zhao"'s great victory and triumphant return, celebrated by the populace. Meanwhile, "Zhao Taifei" and the Wangfei are shopping when they overhear rumors describing "Ye Zhao" as a murderous "living Yama," terrifying "Zhao Taifei". Soon after, an imperial edict arrives, declaring "Zhao Yujin" to be granted the title of Nanping Junwang and married to "Ye Zhao". Upon hearing this, "Zhao Taifei" faints. "
Zhao Yujin", initially drinking with friends and mistakenly believing "Ye Zhao" is a man, is horrified by the news, causing him to faint and later attempt to flee by jumping into a river. His own concubines beg him to divorce them, fearing "Ye Zhao"'s arrival. Distraught, "Zhao Yujin" writes to his friends, desperately seeking a way out of the marriage. " Ye Zhao" is granted a grand welcome by the Emperor and officials upon her return.
The Emperor bestows upon her high honors and announces her marriage to "Zhao Yujin". Though initially surprised, "Ye Zhao" soon smiles, seemingly pleased with the match. She returns to her estate, where she, along with "Hu Qing", "Qiu Lao Hu", "Qiu Shui", and "Qiu Hua", pays respects at the ancestral hall. Upon learning of "Zhao Yujin"'s reputation as a dandy, "Qiu Shui" and "Qiu Hua" are dismayed, but "Ye Zhao"'s primary concern is his appearance. "
Ye Zhao"'s sister-in-law, determined to prepare her for marriage, insists on teaching her feminine etiquette. " Ye Zhao" is reluctant, stating "a big man" like herself doesn't need such things. Nevertheless, she is dressed in female attire and undergoes training in graceful walking (with books on her head and tied legs), flower arrangement (which she attempts to apply military strategies to, giving flowers names like "No Escape for the Winged"), and needlework. She also resists learning traditional "female virtues" and reciting the "Nüjie," citing the unconventional nature of the Ye family women, but eventually agrees to comply when her sister-in-law becomes disheartened.
