Lord Daichuan, Shangguan Yan, had always disapproved of the Alliance of the Nine Regions. She believed it was merely a means to sacrifice women to maintain diplomatic ties. She immediately decided that in three years, no women from Daichuan would participate in the selection. But now that Xinchuan had sent two princes over, Shangguan Jing felt the situation was serious. If she still refused to return, she feared it would implicate her sister.

Shangguan Yan, full of dominance, told her younger sister that even if Lord Xinchuan personally came, she would still be able to protect her. At the banquet, Shangguan Yan deliberately made things difficult for Yin Qi, preparing a table full of spicy dishes for him and even bringing out pig offal to mock him for being fickle and failing Shangguan Jing.

Under pressure, Yin Qi had no choice but to eat the pig eyeballs with his eyes closed, but when he saw pig brains, he couldn’t hold it in and vomited uncontrollably. Though the sky had already turned dark, the streets of Daichuan remained brightly lit and bustling. Yin Zheng invited Li Wei to stroll around, but unexpectedly, Yin Qi, satisfied with his own social awareness, insisted on joining them.

While Yin Qi went to the latrine, Li Wei and Yin Zheng sat down to eat some fruit. Li Wei instinctively handed a peeled orange to Yin Zheng, only to be mocked by a man at the next table. That man skillfully carved fruits with a knife and arranged them into a stunningly beautiful fruit platter for his wife. Yin Zheng couldn’t stop snickering as Li Wei pulled him away.

In order to see Shangguan Jing, Yin Qi agreed to participate in Daichuan’s husband selection exam. What he never expected was that the first round was playing mahjong. After a few rounds, Yin Qi either took back his tiles or gave others the win, leaving a terrible impression on Situ Jin. Yin Zheng, unable to bear watching anymore, had to give him a few pointers. In the second round, ear cleaning, Yin Qi did terribly again.

The third round was to make chili oil that Shangguan Jing would choose. Yin Qi complained bitterly, but to appease Shangguan Jing, he had no choice but to roll up his sleeves and work. Situ Jin couldn't help but sneer, bluntly saying that Yin Qi really didn’t understand anything. Li Wei pondered over Situ Jin's words and suddenly realized that Yin Qi wasn’t trying to calm Shangguan Jing’s anger, but to win her back.

In the end, the clever Shangguan Jing chose the chili oil made by Yin Qi. But Shangguan Yan still refused to let the two meet, even bluntly stating she wanted them to divorce. After much thought, the group finally came up with a plan. The next day, Yin Zheng requested an audience with Shangguan Yan and promised her that if he ever had the power to speak, he would reform this unreasonable marriage alliance system.

Shangguan Yan found it amusing, and his words happened to align with her thoughts. She finally agreed to let Shangguan Jing meet with Yin Qi. As soon as Yin Qi saw Shangguan Jing, he rushed over to beg for her forgiveness. Unexpectedly, Shangguan Yan ordered her men to shoot a hidden arrow at Yin Qi, but Shangguan Jing noticed in time and caught the arrow with her bare hands.

Seeing blood gushing from Shangguan Jing’s hand, Yin Qi quickly tore his own clothes to bandage her wound. Shangguan Yan pressed hard and demanded that Yin Qi participate in her test. Yin Qi, who didn’t know how to ride or shoot, naturally didn’t dare accept the challenge. Yin Zheng had to volunteer to take his place. Shangguan Yan blindfolded herself and skillfully hit the target on the lake.

Yin Zheng also blindfolded himself and relied solely on sound to determine direction. As the wind blew the bells on the river, ringing nonstop, Li Wei and Yin Qi held their breath in suspense. Yin Zheng, composed and confident, raised his bow and shot the arrow. To everyone's surprise, he hit the center of the jade pendant.

A decree came from Lord Daichuan, reminding Yin Qi that if the alliance between the two regions was sealed with a marriage, then the sixth prince of Xinchuan should marry into Daichuan as a husband to its lord. Everyone was stunned by this news and couldn't believe their ears. Li Wei momentarily lost focus, her heart tightening as she didn’t know what to do.
