New Life Begins Episode 19 Recap
> New Life Begins Recap
Li Wei consoled Song Wu, saying perhaps her true love was just around the corner. As she said that, Li Wei spotted some mushrooms and rushed to the stall to buy some. Song Wu was still distracted and only realized after walking a long while that she had lost Li Wei. She searched for a long time but didn’t find her—what she did find was a little girl crying.
Song Wu knelt before the girl and kindly asked why she was crying. The girl said she was waiting for Song Wu. This puzzled Song Wu—she didn’t seem to know the child. Meanwhile, the real Song Wu was also searching the streets for his little sister, and in doing so, encountered Li Wei, who was also looking for Song Wu. Soon enough, the two "Song Wu" (Wu) crossed paths.
Since returning from Mochuan, the Third Brother had been diligently taking his prescribed medicines. But these tonics were too strong—taking too many had done more harm than good. Eventually, he collapsed. After diagnosing him, the physician gave surprising news—he was indeed capable of fathering children. The Third Brother was even more confused—why had he never had a child all these years?
The sisters gathered and teased about his condition, but unexpectedly, the Third Brother suddenly walked in with a very dark expression. It turned out he had discovered their secret—they had all been secretly taking contraceptives. Furious and humiliated, the Third Brother threatened to punish them using household rules. Li Wei and Yuan Ying arrived in time to defuse the situation.
With the truth out, the women no longer held back and stepped forward to denounce the Third Brother for the hurt he had caused them.  The Third Brother told the women that from now on, he would cut off their monthly allowances—to make them understand just how good he had been to them. But Shuangjiang couldn’t take it anymore and declared that in that case, she had no reason to stay.
The other sisters agreed, saying they had wanted to leave for a long time. The Third Brother was stunned, unable to believe what he heard. As the reality hit him, he clenched his jaw and warned them—if they left today, they might starve tomorrow. Holding her pride, Shuangjiang was the first to walk out. One by one, the others followed, leaving the household. What the Third Brother never expected was that even Haitang followed them out.
Now that they were out, the women needed a way to make a living. Li Wei and Yuan Ying remembered Yin Zheng once said that once the market system stabilized, women might be allowed to run businesses. Everyone was thrilled and decided to pool funds to open a shop. Li Wei wanted to tell Song Wu about it, but her mind was already on the scholar Song Wu.
She couldn’t stop thinking about him and wanted him to be just as devoted to her. So she asked Li Wei for advice. Li Wei didn’t have much experience in this area, but she shared how her parents met, hoping it would inspire Song Wu. Acting on it immediately, Song Wu planned to stage a "hero saves beauty" scene, just like Li Wei’s parents. But no one expected Song Wu to see right through it.
The stunt ended up damaging Song Wu’s bookstore, and Song Wu felt very sorry, worried he’d hold a grudge. But she wasn’t one to be shy—she called out to Song Wu and confessed her feelings. Actually, Song Wu’s heart had already raced that night—they both liked each other, even his little sister could tell. But he felt unworthy of Princess Song Wu. Encouraged by his sister, Song Wu finally mustered the courage to confess.
Seeing the pink bubbles around the two, Li Wei grinned from afar. But as a sister-in-law, she couldn’t help but worry Song Wu might get hurt. So she asked Yin Zheng to test Song Wu. Yin Zheng offered him a job so he wouldn’t have to struggle to earn his rank. Song Wu firmly refused, saying he wouldn’t waste years of reading sacred texts. Hearing Song Wu's words, Yin Zheng smiled with great satisfaction.
