The brothers chimed in one after another, leaving Qiao-ge dumbfounded. All that tea now surged like a sudden flood, making Qiao-ge urgently need the outhouse. Finally, he nodded repeatedly, promising to help them. Things were going smoothly, but Yin Qi felt uneasy. Despite the seamless cooperation among the brothers today, all the polite talk left him feeling drained. His mother had said he lacked a certain knack since childhood.

Now, though he attended court, the Lord still hadn’t assigned him a post. Yin Qi suddenly felt that this might be all there was to his life. Shangguan Jing comforted him, saying if he didn’t feel comfortable, there was no need to force himself. There’s more than one way to live a life. If anyone tried to bully Yin Qi, she would be the first to protect him. Hearing this, Yin Qi was deeply moved.

His gloom lifted, and he smiled foolishly at Shangguan Jing like before. For hundreds of years, Mochuan had relied on herding, which led to depleted lands. Yet the region is vast and sparsely populated, with long sunlight hours. With proper planning and fertile fields, farming could thrive one day. The group went to the fields, working the land themselves to better understand local customs.

After returning, Li Wei even designed a tool to help Mochuan farmers work more efficiently based on her experiences. With close cooperation from everyone, Lord Mochuan finally agreed to promote agriculture. Henceforth, the two regions would no longer need to rely on marriage alliances to maintain relations. The group gathered to celebrate the victory. Yin Kun warmly invited everyone to stay a few more days.

It happened that Li Wei had not seen her grandfather, who lived in Mochuan, for a long time, so they all went to visit him. They thought they’d be spared from more drinking—but before the words left their lips, Grandfather brought out several jars of fine wine. Unable to refuse his hospitality, they braced themselves and drank.   That night, Li Wei and her grandfather sat by the bonfire and chatted about life.

She told him that although Xinchuan had many rules, she had slowly adapted. Her grandfather could see how much Yin Zheng cared for her and hoped the couple would continue to support each other. He then brought out a jade bracelet and asked her to wear it. With tears in her eyes, Li Wei accepted the bracelet and leaned on his shoulder, feeling the warmth of family. Yin Zheng was dead drunk, his face flushed.

Li Wei gently wiped his face to help him feel better. They were so close, it seemed they could feel each other’s breath. With keen eyes, Yin Zheng noticed she had been crying. Embarrassed, Li Wei explained that she missed home. Instantly sobered, Yin Zheng took her hand and promised that whenever she missed home, he would take her back. Tears welled up in Li Wei’s eyes again, but she held them back and nodded with a smile.

Seeing Yin Zheng smirk, she scolded him—if he couldn’t hold his liquor, why drink so much? She was afraid he’d do something foolish again. But before she could finish, Yin Zheng suddenly leaned in and kissed her. Upon returning from Mochuan, the Lord appointed Yin Zheng to assist with affairs of the Nine Regions. Although it wasn’t exactly what he had hoped for, at this stage, Yin Zheng felt that serving anywhere was fine, so he accepted the role.

After everything that had happened, Song Wu gradually came to understand her own heart. What she felt for Yin Zheng was mostly admiration—she didn’t truly want to marry him. She just wanted to spend her life with someone she loved who also loved her. But Her Ladyship was very anxious about her marriage and had sent several potential match lists over the past few days. Encouraged by Li Wei, Song Wu finally mustered the courage to speak her mind.

Surprisingly, Her Ladyship was not shocked at all—instead, she fully supported Song Wu in pursuing her own happiness. However, after meeting several eligible bachelors, Song Wu only felt more stressed.
