My Mr. Mermaid Episode 10 Recap
> My Mr. Mermaid Recap
Lin Zi found himself alone in the apartment he had prepared for Yun Duo. He felt quite sad, reflecting on his efforts that had now gone to waste. Responding to an implicit suggestion that he should be sad, he disagreed. He recalled a past conversation with his sister, Lin Sang.
Lin Sang used to constantly think of Tang Yibai, always prioritizing him, and had once told Lin Zi that if one truly cared for someone, their actions would stem purely from that care, not from a desire for the other person to know the extent of their feelings.
Lin Zi admitted he hadn't fully understood her words then, but now he began to grasp their meaning, content as long as Yun Duo no longer had to worry about finding a place to live. Meanwhile, Tang Yibai received a call from his mother, Auntie Lu, who informed him that she had rented out his room. Amused and annoyed, Tang Yibai hastily ended the call, which infuriated his mother.
She complained about him incessantly, prompting Yun Duo, who overheard, to offer comfort. Despite her initial irritation, Auntie Lu, a woman with a sharp tongue but a kind heart, was clearly worried about Tang Yibai, though she refused to admit it. As they spoke, she grew fonder of Yun Duo, praising her as an obedient and considerate girl with bright, insightful eyes that could see into people's hearts.
The following morning, Yun Duo, still groggy, mistook Auntie Lu, who was busy preparing breakfast, for her own mother. Her spontaneous "Mom!" brought out a surge of maternal affection in Auntie Lu, who, longing for her own son, affectionately comforted Yun Duo while lamenting her son's perceived neglect. Despite her constant complaints, her deep love for him was unmistakable. Later, Yun Duo arrived at South Physical for an interview, where she encountered Qi Ruifeng and Tang Yibai.
Neither Yun Duo nor Tang Yibai were aware of the shared living situation. Qi Ruifeng mischievously implied that the landlord's son was a playboy who only knew how to flirt, stirring immediate concern in Tang Yibai. Tang Yibai quickly warned Yun Duo to stay far away from the landlord's son, while Qi Ruifeng secretly chuckled at the success of his prank. To give them an opportunity to talk alone, Qi Ruifeng conveniently excused himself to the restroom.
Yun Duo then inquired about Tang Yibai's training bottleneck, offering an unexpected insight: for a 100-meter freestyle swimmer in a 50-meter pool, the finish line is also the starting point. This seemingly simple remark profoundly resonated with Tang Yibai, sparking a sudden realization of how to overcome his challenge. That day, Tang Yibai finally returned home to see his mother. To his surprise, the house seemed empty except for their dog, Erbai.
Hearing a noise, he went straight to his room, only to be astonished to find it decorated in a girlish style, complete with women's clothes drying outside. His parents soon arrived, spotting a gloomy Tang Yibai sitting in Erbai's dog bed. Auntie Lu immediately scolded him for "passing by the family home thrice without entering," complaining about his constant absence. To appease his spirited wife, Tang Yibai’s father jokingly "disciplined" his son.
Unable to resist his doting father's insistence, Tang Yibai apologized to his mother, whose mood instantly improved. She eagerly began to praise Yun Duo, describing her as an angelic tenant and praising her to the heavens. Tang Yibai remained unconvinced, only asking where his belongings were. His mother informed him they were either in the storage room or had been discarded. In the storage room, Tang Yibai playfully bickered with his mother while sifting through old items.
He eventually found a camera, declaring it his "starting point." On his way back to school, he called Yun Duo, expressing how her words had helped him find direction. He asked her to accompany him somewhere the next day, and Yun Duo readily agreed, feeling an inexplicable sweetness in her heart. The following morning, Yun Duo eagerly departed to meet Tang Yibai. Tang's parents beamed as she left, Auntie Lu declaring Yun Duo her lucky charm.
She shared how Yun Duo's arrival had brought joy: her husband, Tang's father, returned the very next day, and Tang Yibai also came home from school, making her practically overjoyed. Overwhelmed by the praise, Yun Duo modestly hurried out, while Auntie Lu's admiration for Yun Duo grew daily, wishing she could introduce her to her son immediately.
Tang Yibai led Yun Duo to his high school swimming pool, explaining that it was where his journey and glory began, steeped in his sweat and hard work – his true starting point. Yun Duo then presented him with a folder of research she had compiled overnight: examples of athletes overcoming bottlenecks throughout history, along with their solutions. Tang Yibai was momentarily speechless, surprised by Yun Duo's thoughtfulness.
Seeing his hesitation, Yun Duo, thinking he found her gesture clumsy, quickly tried to retrieve the folder, feeling foolish. Tang Yibai, however, gently took her hand, closing the distance between them. They stood close, their gazes meeting, filled with a mix of surprise, friendship, and a hint of something more. Tang Yibai affirmed that Yun Duo was indeed his lucky charm, as her single remark had helped him find his way.
He compared his swimming footage from four years ago with his current performance, noting that his speed was significantly faster then. Yun Duo asked him why he swam four years ago and what drove him now. Tang Yibai recalled past events from four years prior, deep in thought. They spent the day at the high school, but still had no breakthrough. Observing Tang Yibai's frustration, Yun Duo offered to help him relieve stress.
She instructed him to stretch his arms, close his eyes, and take deep breaths. Tang Yibai, however, kept stealing amused glances at her, a sweet, unstoppable smile on his face, perhaps a sign of burgeoning affection. Back at the company, Yun Duo was disheartened to find her ranking had dropped to eighth place. Her spirits immediately lifted, however, upon receiving a text message from Tang Yibai. Even being scolded by Director Liu during a meeting did not bother her.
At the swimming pool, Chen Ziqiang still desired to participate in the 100-meter freestyle relay. He protested to Coach Yuan and Coach Wu, wishing to compete against Tang Yibai to determine the best candidate for the event. Tang Yibai, understanding Chen Ziqiang's ambition, readily accepted the challenge. As they prepared by the pool for the upcoming competition, Tang Yibai's mind was filled with Yun Duo's stress-relief method. He raised his arms, took a deep breath, and a confident smile appeared on his face as he thought of her.
