Yu Zhouzhou was at a cafe writing homework on Christmas Eve, on the phone with her aunt who worried about her safety and suggested her uncle pick her up later. Yu Zhouzhou assured her that a classmate would take her home. Benben arrived shortly after, bringing an apple and explaining the tradition of eating apples on Christmas Eve for good luck. He was eager to know who Yu Zhouzhou was spending the evening with.
Yu Zhouzhou smiled and said she was meeting "a guy I like." Meanwhile, Chen An sent Yu Zhouzhou a text message, informing her he would be near Zhongxin Square and would call her when he was done, advising her not to come out too early for safety. Yu Zhouzhou replied that she would wait for him. Afterward, Yu Zhouzhou called Lin Yang to cancel their plans, explaining she had to meet a very important friend.
Lin Yang was visibly disappointed, having meticulously prepared for their outing. However, upon learning she would be at Zhongxin Square, he decided to go there to find her. Yu Zhouzhou and Benben sat on a bench at Zhongxin Square, chatting. Benben, still under the impression that the "guy Yu Zhouzhou likes" was Lin Yang, launched into a list of Lin Yang's faults, calling him "like chewing gum" and saying he wanted to punch him.
Yu Zhouzhou quickly clarified that she wasn't talking about Lin Yang, and that her "like" for the person she was meeting was more akin to admiration. Their conversation was interrupted by a phone call from Mi Qiao, who desperately called Benben for "emergency help" from the hospital. Benben, trying to hide Mi Qiao's true condition, quickly concocted a story about her having a toothache and losing her wallet.
Although Yu Zhouzhou suspected he was lying, Benben rushed off, telling her to celebrate the festival with her idol. At the hospital, Mi Qiao, wrapped in a blanket, tried to convince Benben to escape so they could attend Eason Chan's concert. Benben adamantly refused, reminding her he promised her father he would stay until she finished all three remaining IV bottles. Mi Qiao, bored, handed him a "Danmei" novel to read.
As time passed, Mi Qiao grew hungry and specifically craved the kebabs from Benben's stall. Benben went out, returning shortly with the kebabs she wanted. Although he denied that he grilled them himself, Mi Qiao was touched, noting he was sweating even in the cold, indicating he had rushed back. She gave up on escaping, and they passed the time by playing cards.
Benben clarified to Mi Qiao that he and Yu Zhouzhou were "buddies" and their relationship transcended simple likes or dislikes. Separately, Jiang Chuan called Ling Xiangqian, intending to confess his feelings. She initially refused to come out, but he lied, telling her that Chu Tiankuo would be there. Ling Xiangqian, eager to see Chu Tiankuo, immediately agreed despite her mother's attempts to stop her.
Upon arriving at the designated spot, Ling Xiangqian realized Chu Tiankuo was absent and, displeased, turned to leave. Jiang Chuan, not wanting to miss this opportunity, held her back, promising her a meteor shower and a pleasant surprise. They waited on a rooftop, but only saw a few distant sky lanterns.
Ling Xiangqian, growing impatient, texted Chu Tiankuo, who replied that he had gone home after buying medicine for his father and would meet her at the central square at midnight. Ling Xiangqian, still fixated on Chu Tiankuo, hastily left to meet him. Jiang Chuan followed her, undeterred by her harsh words. Meanwhile, Chu Tiankuo was at a gift shop, trying to buy a crystal apple for Ling Xiangqian.
The price was 45 yuan, significantly higher than the usual 35 due to the holiday, making him hesitate. However, seeing other crystal apples being bought up, he finally decided to indulge for the girl he liked. After purchasing the gift, he went to wait for a bus, but no bus arrived as time slowly ticked by. At Zhongxin Square, Yu Zhouzhou received a call from Chen An, who regretfully informed her he couldn't make it due to an unforeseen matter.
Yu Zhouzhou, trying to hide her disappointment and not make him feel guilty, told him she was still at home and wished him a Merry Christmas in advance. Shortly after, Lin Yang appeared. He led Yu Zhouzhou to a prepared warehouse, where he had arranged bricks in a heart shape for a domino effect. Lin Yang coolly pushed the first brick, but the dominoes stopped after only a few fell.
Yu Zhouzhou, believing this was still an attempt to compensate her for past events, grew upset and turned to leave. As Lin Yang tried to stop her, she accidentally bumped a brick, causing the rest to fall perfectly. Seizing the moment, Lin Yang lit the fireworks he had prepared, but his friend Jiang Chuan had mistakenly placed them upside down. Lin Yang quickly pulled Yu Zhouzhou away to safety.
Hiding behind a wall, Lin Yang held Yu Zhouzhou's hand, mustering the courage to tell her that his actions were driven by affection, not guilt, but their moment was interrupted by the warehouse administrators' arrival. The unexpected fireworks attracted the attention of warehouse administrators, who confronted the two teenagers for the fire hazard. They insisted on calling their parents or involving the police. Lin Yang tried to feign illness to avoid trouble, pretending to be sick.
Yu Zhouzhou, however, contacted Chen An for help. Chen An soon arrived, explained the situation to the administrators, and managed to get Yu Zhouzhou and Lin Yang released. This was Lin Yang's first meeting with Chen An, and he felt an immediate sense of rivalry. Lin Yang suggested they all go watch fireworks, but Chen An proposed an even more interesting place. Yu Zhouzhou, without hesitation, chose Chen An's suggestion.
Not wanting Yu Zhouzhou and Chen An to be alone, Lin Yang stubbornly insisted on joining them to protect her. Chen An led them to his secret base, a quiet place he called the "Secret Forest," filled with rows of high poles adorned with faintly glowing small lights, creating a magical atmosphere. Chen An explained he found the place while wandering alone and sometimes sought solitude there. As midnight approached, magnificent fireworks lit up the sky above the Secret Forest.
Lin Yang and Chen An simultaneously wished Yu Zhouzhou a Merry Christmas, but her gaze was solely fixed on Chen An. At the hospital, Benben sang Eason Chan's songs to Mi Qiao, who was unable to attend the concert. Meanwhile, at Zhongxin Square, Ling Xiangqian's spirits remained low as Chu Tiankuo never arrived, while Jiang Chuan stayed by her side, promising to leave discreetly if Chu Tiankuo ever showed up. Unbeknownst to them, Chu Tiankuo was still stranded at the bus stop, unaware that public transport had ceased operations.
