Nangong Yixin confronted Lu Qingqing, demanding to know her true purpose for repeatedly entering his palace. Lu Qingqing panicked, fearing he had discovered her intention to steal magic power. She considered telling him the truth but worried he would refuse to share his power. Nangong Yixin pressed her to tell the truth.

Lu Qingqing, trying to evade the truth, claimed she was irresistibly drawn to his handsomeness and the fact that many girls like him, which made her want to get close. Nangong Yixin reminded her that a young lady should not be so proactive. Lu Qingqing impulsively leaned in and kissed him. At that exact moment, Xiaowu walked in, witnessed the kiss, and awkwardly retreated, telling them to continue. Nangong Yixin was stunned by the kiss.

Back at Lu Mansion, Lu Hongzhu reprimanded Lu Yunxi because she helped Lu Qingqing to cover her whereabouts, telling her she was going to Nangong Yixin's palace. Lu Hongzhu also reprimanded Qi Yi, Lu Qingqing’s guard, for failing to report her escapades and wanted to punish Qi Yi. Lu Yunxi offered to take Qi Yi's punishment, but Qi Yi, unwilling to see her suffer, wounded himself in self-inflicted discipline.

Lu Hongzhu forbade Lu Qingqing from seeing Nangong Yixin, whom he disparagingly called an "ignorant and incompetent playboy" and confined her to copy scriptures. He also consulted Lord Lin, the magic measuring platform steward, about Lu Qingqing's unusual dormant magic, but Lord Lin could only attribute her recent awakening to an "auspicious sign." Lu Qingqing wondered why her father forbade her from seeing Nangong Yixin. Baihe suggested that if they were a "couple," they could be together openly.

This sparked a determination in Lu Qingqing to become Nangong Yixin's "couple." Baihe then reminded her that marriage in Qiyuan Continent required parental consent, which disheartened Lu Qingqing. Meanwhile, Lu Hongzhu recalled that twenty years ago, the magic girl went alone to No Magic Valley. He sensed he was close to finding her. After waiting fruitlessly for Lu Qingqing, Nangong Yixin ventured to the Lu Mansion.

He instructed Baihe to tell Lu Qingqing to meet him at the Yuejiao Teahouse the following day for an important discussion. Nangong Yixin meticulously chose his attire for the meeting. Lu Qingqing, overjoyed by the invitation, resolved to sneak out of the mansion despite her father's strict orders. The next day, Lu Qingqing arrived at the teahouse wearing an elaborate, heavily made-up face that she believed Zhenzhu and other girls admired.

This startled Nangong Yixin, who used his magic to restore her natural appearance. Eager for her to confess her feelings, Nangong Yixin prompted her to speak freely about anything she had been too shy to mention. Misinterpreting his words, Lu Qingqing feared he had discovered her true motive of stealing magic power and remained silent. She then tried to divert the conversation by offering to celebrate his upcoming birthday.

Disappointed by her lack of romantic confession, Nangong Yixin, who claimed he "never celebrate birthday," abruptly left. Later, Sikong Ying mocked Nangong Yixin. Still puzzled by Nangong Yixin's abrupt departure, Lu Qingqing resolved to meet him again and sent a letter to Nangong Yixin, expressing her longing. Nangong Yixin, though outwardly nonchalant about the "childish" letter, was secretly pleased.

At the palace, the Crown Prince wanted to talk about the Crown Princess selection with Lu Hongzhu, but Lu Hongzhu suggested that he should consult with the Empress. Recalling Nangong Yixin's advice to choose his own spouse, the Crown Prince expressed the desire to take a walk around Lu Mansion. Lu Qingqing waited at Muxin Garden, but as the sky darkened and rain began to fall.

Nangong Yixin told Xiaowu he would not be meeting Lu Qingqing, instead heading to the palace to meet the Crown Prince. As he left the palace, he spotted Lu Qingqing walking in the downpour. Nangong Yixin rushed to her side, shielding her from the rain. Lu Qingqing, distressed, apologized, believing he had been angry with her during their previous encounter. Nangong Yixin reassured her that he hadn't been angry, explaining he had an emergency.

Relieved but weakened by hunger and exposure, Lu Qingqing fainted. Nangong Yixin carried her into his carriage. Nangong Yixin took Lu Qingqing to his mansion, where he helped her dry her clothes and provided a lavish meal. He also gave her medicine and instructed her to take it to prevent illness. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Lu Qingqing kissed Nangong Yixin. As Lu Qingqing returned to her mansion, she encountered the Crown Prince departing.

The Crown Prince presented Lu Qingqing with a jade bead bracelet, calling it a memento of their cuju game and solidifying their friendship. He then extended an invitation to his upcoming Crown Princess selection ceremony, secretly informing her that wearing the bracelet would grant her unrestricted entry.
