My Dear GuardianĀ Episode 8 Recap
> My Dear GuardianĀ Recap
Liang Muze was visiting Luo Xiaojun in the hospital. Xia Chu, after finishing rounds with Zhang Yichi, tried to convince Liang Muze to see a psychologist, but he refused. When Xia Chu attempted to change Luo Xiaojun's dressing, the boy became hostile, pushing her away and screaming for her to leave. He was concerned that Liang Muze liked Xia Chu and might abandon him and his mother.
Liang Muze told Xia Chu she needed to learn to respect a patient's wishes, even if they seemed stubborn. Later, Xia Chu made a deal with Dr. Xiao: if Dr. Xiao would change Luo Xiaojun's dressing, Xia Chu would complete two weeks' worth of Dr. Xiao's medical orders. Dr. Xiao agreed. While Dr. Xiao was changing the dressing, she asked Luo Xiaojun why he wouldn't let Xia Chu do it. Liang Muze intervened, stating it was none of her business.
Luo Xiaojun then directly asked Liang Muze if he would take care of Chen Mengzhen forever. Liang Muze affirmed that he would. This made Luo Xiaojun happy, and he sent Liang Muze and Chen Mengzhen to get braised pork ribs for lunch.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yichi had a pleasant interaction with Chen Mengzhen, who gave him a handmade soap with his last name carved into it as a token of appreciation for caring for her son, explaining she designed and made reusable bags for the nurses. Xia Chu returned to Luo Xiaojun's ward, sensing his hostility stemmed from Liang Muze.
She explained that as his doctor, her only concern was his recovery, and if he refused treatment because of Liang Muze, he would only hurt himself. Luo Xiaojun then proposed a condition for his cooperation: Xia Chu had to order a bouquet of flowers in Liang Muze's name and send it to his mother. Xia Chu agreed to the deal. Luo Xiaojun, holding the flowers, approached Chen Mengzhen, claiming Liang Muze was proposing.
Liang Muze clarified that while he would always take care of them, marriage was a different matter. Chen Mengzhen gently explained to Luo Xiaojun that Liang Muze's kindness was not a responsibility. Upset, Luo Xiaojun cried. When Xia Chu walked past, Liang Muze angrily questioned her about the flowers. In a fit of anger, Xia Chu threw the flowers away. As she walked off, she accidentally tripped and twisted her ankle.
A doctor advised her that the ligament injury required proper rest and immobilization to prevent long-term damage, warning that she might not be able to perform surgeries again if she didn't recover properly. Ignoring her protests, Liang Muze carried Xia Chu out, stating he was taking her back to the military camp to recover. At the same time, Mi Gu went to the hospital to visit Zhuo Ran, only to discover he had already discharged himself.
Liang Muze brought Xia Chu to the Troop. As they arrived, his team members, including Tian Yong, jokingly called Xia Chu "Mrs. Liang." Brigade Commander Dong Zhigang approached, initially scolding Liang Muze for being twenty minutes late. Xia Chu stepped in, explaining Liang Muze was late because he accompanied her for medical treatment.
Dong Zhigang's demeanor immediately shifted from cold to warm when he learned Xia Chu was Dr. Xia, Tian Yong's savior from Isaia, expressing his gratitude for her saving one of his special forces brigade members. He insisted Xia Chu stay at the guest house to recover fully and told Liang Muze to ensure she was well taken care of, promising to handle her leave from the hospital.
Xia Chu still wanted to go home, but Liang Muze adamantly refused, reminding her he promised Zhang Yichi to take good care of her. At the guesthouse, Xia Chu broke down crying. Liang Muze, unsure how to handle her tears, called Zhang Yichi, who asked if he had bullied Xia Chu and advised him to be gentle, noting her vulnerability as an injured person without family nearby.
That evening, Luo Xiaojun asked Chen Mengzhen if he had scared Liang Muze away. Chen Mengzhen assured him that Liang Muze was not so easily intimidated, confirming he had returned to the Troop. Luo Xiaojun confessed that his recent illness had made him fear dying like his father, Luo Liang. He expressed his desire for Liang Muze to be there for Chen Mengzhen if he were ever gone, which was why he had lied about the flowers.
Chen Mengzhen, touched by his words, cried while washing clothes. Zhang Yichi, passing by, noticed her distress and offered comfort. Chen Mengzhen shared her feelings, explaining that seeing Liang Muze in his military uniform reminded her too much of Luo Liang, making it impossible for them to move forward. She used an analogy of an embroidered blue bird tablecloth that, once stained, could not be replaced, as any new one would always be compared to the original.
The next day, Chen Mengzhen and Luo Xiaojun were discharged, and Zhang Yichi walked them out. Li Juan approached, sarcastically remarking on Zhang Yichi's lack of pickiness in his relationships and questioning why he missed their previous date, attempting to reschedule for that evening. Zhang Yichi quickly made an excuse to decline. While Liang Muze and Xia Chu were away, Zhuo Ran, disguised as a repairman, infiltrated Liang Muze's apartment.
Long Yi acted as lookout outside, talking to Zhuo Ran on the phone, expressing a bad hunch and urging him to hurry. Zhuo Ran took a copy of Xia Chu's detective novel, "The Tokyo Zodiac Murders", and attempted to plant a bug on the collar of Xia Chu's cat. Long Yi, distracted by his phone, missed Liang Muze's car pulling into the complex. He then frantically alerted Zhuo Ran that Liang Muze was back.
Zhuo Ran narrowly escaped by jumping out the window as Liang Muze entered the apartment and noticed the open window. Liang Muze's cat, distressed, cried out that a "bad guy" had been there and expressed a desire to leave. Liang Muze tried to comfort it, saying Xia Chu would be back soon. Later, a technician informed Liang Muze that the surveillance system had been malfunctioning that day and only just repaired, meaning there was no recorded footage of earlier events.
