After bringing Tian Jingzhi home, Xue Ling Qiao tended to her as she lay feverish and delirious. In her unconscious state, she murmured self-deprecating thoughts, confessing to being stingy, having bad taste, and experiencing a string of failed relationships due to her perpetual bad luck. She urged him to disappear into the forest, reasoning that her bad luck would soon cause her death, freeing him from their connection.
Hearing this, Xue Ling Qiao told her to stop talking nonsense and, after confirming she had a fever, kissed her to heal her. The next morning, Tian Jingzhi woke up feeling perfectly fine. She went to Xue Ling Qiao's room but found it empty, lamenting that no one truly cared about her.
