Miss The Dragon Episode 13 Recap
> Miss The Dragon Recap
Following up on his promise from the previous night, Xue Qianxun meticulously applies a beautiful makeup for Qing Qing, who is delighted. They then go out to the street together to watch the dragon boat races. On the bustling street, Ayu is selling flowers when Baldhead approaches, intending to cause trouble. Ayu, quick-witted, throws caterpillars—Baldhead's greatest fear—onto him to drive him away. Just then, Yuchi, passing by, intervenes and offers to buy all of Ayu's flowers.
Ayu immediately recognizes him as Yuchi, the one who had saved her, despite not having seen him clearly that day. Yuchi acknowledges her recognition and invites her to a special place. He takes her to the city wall, where they watch beautiful fireworks. Ayu's joy is evident, and Yuchi finds himself wishing he could embrace her.
Ayu then shares a childhood memory, pointing out names she and Zhiyong had carved on the wall: "Beauty Jun" for herself and "Brave Wise Man" for Zhiyong. Yuchi, clearly displeased, subtly erases Zhiyong's carving and declares that from now on, she can only come to the city wall with him. When Ayu points out that he is also a man, he replies that as Qing Qing's brother, he is hers as well.
He then advises her not to stay too long as it is cold, a phrase Ayu feels she has heard somewhere before. As Yuchi walks Ayu home, she asserts that she is not afraid of Baldhead and isn't so fragile as to need constant protection. Yuchi then gifts her a jar of trained fireflies, explaining that if she releases one, it will immediately lead him to her. Ayu is overjoyed, realizing she can now see Yuchi anytime she wishes.
Later that night, Ayu finds herself unable to sleep, her thoughts consumed by Yuchi. Meanwhile, Yuchi is also restless, preparing for Ayu's potential summons. He tries on various outfits, from a scholarly look to full armor, wondering what image would be best. Xue Qianxun suddenly appears, revealing he has been watching Yuchi's antics for a while.
Though Xue Qianxun had come looking for Qing Qing, he offers Yuchi advice: attire isn't the most important thing, as human women love gifts above all else. Inspired, Yuchi prepares a stack of gifts for Ayu, but Xue Qianxun dismisses each one as unsuitable or even dangerous. Yuchi, pouting, accuses Xue Qianxun of jealousy. Xue Qianxun retorts that Qing Qing has already taken his surname, becoming Xue Qingqing, while Ayu has not yet summoned Yuchi at all.
Yuchi then spitefully offers the Night Pearl he had intended for Ayu to Xue Qianxun. Unbeknownst to Ayu, Yuchi has been secretly watching over her. He observes anxiously as Ayu is publicly accosted by Yuxiang and Baldhead, who accuse her of selling stale fish that caused Mrs. Sun's grandson, Fuwang, to suffer from severe diarrhea. They rally the crowd, demanding Ayu report to the authorities or pay compensation. Ayu, however, remains calm.
When Fuwang's symptoms are described as diarrhea, a sore throat, and slobbering, Ayu recognizes they are not typical of food poisoning. She offers to treat Fuwang herself, dismissing the need for the county magistrate. Physician Jia, who is with the accusers, boasts about his medical expertise. Ayu astutely points out that stale fish poisoning usually causes red rashes, which Fuwang does not have. As Physician Jia makes an excuse to leave, Baldhead suddenly starts showing identical symptoms, including slobbering.
Ayu deduces that he and Physician Jia are experiencing the same ailment as Fuwang, despite not having eaten her fish. She exposes their scheme, revealing they have consumed croton seeds, which they likely put in their own tea, and conspired with Physician Jia to frame her. Baldhead inadvertently confirms this when he drops the money Physician Jia paid him.
Ayu explains that she knows the difference because as a motherless child, she once inadvertently consumed both stale fish and croton seeds. She provides Mrs. Sun a remedy—a decoction of goldthread root and golden cypress—to detoxify her grandson. Mrs. Sun gratefully accepts, apologizing profusely. The crowd praises Ayu for her kindness and sharp wit, while Yuxiang, Baldhead, and Physician Jia flee in shame.
Later, Ayu seeks out Qing Qing, eager to learn the art of embroidery, specifically how to embroider a lifelike dragon. Qing Qing is thrilled, teasing that Ayu must have the Dragon King on her mind. Ayu confirms her desire to complete the half-dragon design on Yuchi's handkerchief, believing he would love it. Ayu then notices a sachet on Qing Qing's person. Curious, Qing Qing asks what it signifies when a man gives a sachet to a woman.
Ayu candidly replies that it naturally means "love," prompting a shocked reaction from Qing Qing, who vehemently denies the possibility. The Dragon King returns to his home, deeply disheartened that Ayu, despite facing difficulties, had never summoned him. He feels unneeded. Xue Qianxun, who has been waiting all day for Qing Qing but has not seen a trace of her, is also present and expresses his own disappointment.
The two men find solace in drinking wine, commiserating over their respective romantic predicaments. In the Dragon Pool, the Dragon King continues to drink, tormented by Ayu's failure to summon him and speculating that she might have lost the firefly jar. Believing he is having an alcohol-induced illusion, a figure resembling Ayu suddenly appears before him. As he grapples with this surprise, another figure, also looking exactly like Ayu, emerges. Both claim to be the real Ayu and vehemently accuse the other of being an imposter, leaving the Dragon King bewildered and caught between them.
