Lucky With You Episode 3 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Hou Jue confronts his father, Hou Zhirong, about Wu Shiyi's presence. He accuses his father of hiring Wu Shiyi not as an assistant, but as a personal bodyguard from a security company to watch him 24 hours a day. Hou Jue expresses his dislike for this intrusion, telling his father, "Don't change my life at will, okay." Hou Zhirong firmly states that his actions are to protect Hou Jue, the future heir of the family.
He reminds Hou Jue about the recent incident where someone broke in and sought revenge, and the previous incident with the man at Pier 5, suggesting these external threats are what truly changed Hou Jue's life, not his father. Hou Jue retorts that no one has changed his life and he makes his own decisions, asking his father not to interfere.
Hou Zhirong, equally firm, declares that protecting Hou Jue is protecting the family's future, and he will not allow his decision to be interfered with. He then instructs Wu Shiyi to take Hou Jue out. Unable to dismiss Wu Shiyi, Hou Jue turns his attention to her. He asks what it would take for her to leave, even offering her double his father's salary to quit and protect someone else.
When Wu Shiyi refuses, stating she will only leave if she fails to uphold her contract and is fired, Hou Jue begins to torment her. He repeatedly sends her back to remake his coffee, complaining about the type, temperature, and freshness, even accusing her of microwaving it and disrespecting the coffee.
He asks if she is the "Wu Shiyi who danced the knife and got the gun" (Wu Shiyi who was known for her aggressive personality), wondering if she "took medicine this morning" and "suddenly learned to be gentle and virtuous." Wu Shiyi responds by thanking him for his affirmation, maintaining a professional smile, and telling him to call her if he needs anything else. Her composed reaction only frustrates Hou Jue further.
While driving Hou Jue, he requests a detailed self-introduction. Wu Shiyi gives a brief one: she has been a bodyguard for seven years and used to be a Sanda player. Hou Jue presses her for details about the man she chased after jumping off a building previously, jokingly asking if he was her boyfriend and if being her boyfriend is a "high-risk occupation." Wu Shiyi remains silent.
Suddenly, their car is stopped by several men who pretend to be hit, demanding twenty thousand yuan. Hou Jue confronts them, accusing them of faking an accident and provoking a fight. Wu Shiyi instructs Hou Jue to get back in the car. She then swiftly dispatches the men.
Afterward, Wu Shiyi reveals she recognized the men as members of Hou Jue's Angel rescue team due to their rescue boots and cable marks on their hands, deducing they weren't trying to genuinely hurt Hou Jue. Embarrassed, Hou Jue admits it was a test of her abilities. Wu Shiyi warns him that her job is to protect him, not to harm others, and asks him not to pull such stunts again.
Upon arriving at Hou Jue's home, Wu Shiyi, as his live-in bodyguard, is warmly welcomed by Sister Zhang, who had been informed by Hou Zhirong. Wu Shiyi insists on conducting a thorough security check of the house first, despite Sister Zhang's assurances of its cleanliness. Wu Shiyi's security checks continue.
While inspecting the study, Hou Jue tries to stop her from touching a painting and insists she leave, saying he doesn't need her inside and she should just guard the door. Sister Zhang intervenes, reminding Hou Jue that Wu Shiyi is doing her job. Wu Shiyi then announces that she has called people to install surveillance cameras. Hou Jue vehemently protests, declaring it an invasion of his privacy.
He yells at the installers to leave, claiming his father finds it necessary, but Hou Jue insists he doesn't. He threatens to tear down any cameras installed. Sister Zhang scolds Hou Jue, reminding him she changed his diapers when he was little, so he has no privacy from her, let alone from Wu Shiyi, who is hired to watch him anyway.
Wu Shiyi calmly directs the installers to place cameras in strategic locations—the living room, study, dining room (to view the entrance), and a corridor covering three doors, ensuring the signal is accessible on her phone and laptop for her own monitoring. Hou Jue continues to object, but Sister Zhang forces him away, allowing Wu Shiyi to proceed. Wu Shiyi notices that the living room has no television, only a large painting in the center.
Sister Zhang explains that the painting depicts Hou Jue and his mother. She recounts that when Hou Jue was five, his mother, Zhang Yingnan, was driving him out when their car accidentally plunged into a river. His mother sacrificed herself to push him to safety. This tragic event has been a source of lasting pain for Hou Jue.
Later, Wu Shiyi's mother calls, asking about Wu Shiyi and Da Peng, puzzled that Da Peng blacklisted her after she helped his cousin secure an internship. Wu Shiyi adds her father to the call to explain once, informing them she and Da Peng broke up due to "personality disagreement." Her parents immediately start arguing, her mother blaming her father, and her father insisting that two people together just make do with life and plain is true.
Her mother also complains about Wu Shiyi's father and how he is a burden, and about Wu Shiyi's living conditions at nearly thirty. Wu Shiyi cuts them off, emphasizing that it was a simple breakup and she needs to focus on her new job. She quickly ends the call, then sees on a security monitor that Hou Jue is preparing to leave the house.
Wu Shiyi quickly changes and follows Hou Jue, ignoring his protests that she is off duty and should go to sleep. Hou Jue goes to a race track where his friends, including Hai Xing, are gathered. Hou Jue introduces Wu Shiyi as a distant relative and tells them to call her "big cousin," bragging that she is a retired racing champion. His friends tease him about changing girls and comment on his new "female driver."
Hai Xing, who recognized Wu Shiyi from a previous encounter, thanks her for saving Hou Jue from being beaten. Xiao Dan also greets her. Amy shows off her new M5, detailing its 4. 4 turbocharged V8 engine, six hundred horsepower, and 750 torque, boasting a 0-100km/h acceleration in 3. 4 seconds. One of Hou Jue's friends, Brother Hao, attempts an S-level curve challenge but fails badly, leading to taunts from his friends.
They then challenge Wu Shiyi, recalling Hou Jue's earlier boast. Despite Hou Jue's initial hesitation, claiming she's a "left-hand drive champion" and not used to "right-hand drive," Wu Shiyi, with a straight face, puts on a helmet and gets into the car. As Hou Jue tries to give her last-minute driving tips, she interrupts him by flooring the accelerator.
She flawlessly executes the S-level curve challenge, exiting the car to cheers from everyone, leaving Hou Jue a mix of admiration and confusion. On the drive back, Hou Jue jokingly asks if he could complain about her for stealing his and his friends' thunder as a bodyguard, to which Wu Shiyi replies, "You can try it." On the way back, Hou Jue receives an emergency call about a collapsed dormitory building at the Old Farm.
He immediately instructs Wu Shiyi to drive there as fast as possible. At the scene, Captain Wang informs them of a risk of secondary collapse and the need to confirm that all residents have safely evacuated. Impatient, Hou Jue attempts to rush into the building, wanting to see for himself. Just as he approaches, a secondary collapse occurs, and Wu Shiyi quickly shoves him to safety, saving him. Despite being rescued, Hou Jue is visibly angry.
He reminds Wu Shiyi of the oath he took upon joining the rescue team: "In the face of crisis, I tried my best to save others' lives," and warns her not to interfere with his rescue efforts again. Wu Shiyi argues that as a professional bodyguard, her job is to protect others, while he is merely a volunteer.
She asserts that safety is paramount in rescue, prioritizing personal safety first, then teammates', and finally the rescued, to ensure more lives can be saved. She demonstrates her understanding of rescue principles, stating she did "detailed homework" on him. Hou Jue acknowledges her point as valid but dismisses it, telling her he won't listen. He warns her that if she interferes with his rescue again, he will "never forgive her." Hai Xing procures Huang Yue's wedding invitation for Hou Jue.
He also reports his findings: Huang Yue's husband is Bai Quan, two years younger than her, a local who owns an Oral Care and Plastic Surgery Hospital. They met online and married within three months. With malicious intent, Hou Jue and Hai Xing arrive at the wedding, with Wu Shiyi closely following, maintaining her guard. Hai Xing suggests several mischievous plans, like secretly putting drugs in the toast or thumbtacks in Bai Quan's shoes, or changing the display screen content.
Hou Jue dismisses these, asserting he does "bad things clearly." After securing the cooperation of the wedding MC, Hou Jue takes a ring and confidently steps onto the stage. Huang Yue’s face stiffens at his unexpected appearance. Ignoring her, Hou Jue takes the microphone and announces that he is there to represent "Huang Yue's fifty-plus ex-boyfriends," or "our ex-boyfriend Group," to extend new wedding wishes.
