Lucky With You Episode 24 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Zhang Yingnan expressed her satisfaction with the band Hou Jue had arranged for her birthday. That evening, Lanqi also hosted a grand dinner for Zhang Yingnan, Wu Tianyi, and Wu Shiyi. During the meal, Wu Tianyi, inspired, recited a poem for Zhang Yingnan, who feigned annoyance, jokingly calling herself an "old demon" and remarking on how sentimental it was. Wu Shiyi and Lanqi exchanged amused glances, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
However, as they prepared for a family photo, Zhang Yingnan inadvertently touched Wu Shiyi's arm and instantly noticed her injury. Zhang Yingnan became frantic, immediately guessing that Wu Shiyi had been hurt protecting Hou Jue. She declared that Wu Shiyi absolutely could not continue as a bodyguard, unwilling to see her child risk her life for someone else's.
Wu Shiyi tried to explain that they were "minor injuries" and attempted to change the subject to taking photos, but her mother was insistent, demanding she resign immediately. Zhang Yingnan passionately argued that Wu Shiyi's past injuries as an athlete were for national honor, while these were a "life for a life," questioning if their lives were inferior.
Wu Shiyi tried to clarify that it had nothing to do with Hou Jue, but her mother was beyond reasoning, even appealing to Lanqi for help. Lanqi advised Wu Shiyi against arguing with her mother. Wu Tianyi, however, supported Wu Shiyi, reminding Zhang Yingnan of her pride when Wu Shiyi was praised for courageous acts. Zhang Yingnan differentiated, saying those acts were to protect people's lives and property.
Wu Tianyi pointed out that Wu Shiyi saving Hou Jue’s life was also a virtuous act. Despite his arguments that bodyguard work in their country was safer than ever, Zhang Yingnan dismissed him as "cold-blooded" and their views as incompatible. Later, Lanqi drove Wu Shiyi to Hai Xing's apartment. He expressed concern about her temporary living situation and advised her not to take her mother's words too seriously, assuring her that her mother was just worried.
Wu Shiyi reaffirmed her commitment to her job, stating, "I need this job. I also like my job. I will not resign." Lanqi understood her passion, remarking that she hadn't changed in years and that he was proud of her. Wu Shiyi then asked him not to disclose Hou Jue's current situation to her parents, fearing unnecessary trouble. After Lanqi left, Hou Jue, who had been waiting outside her door, confronted Wu Shiyi about their conversation, seemingly jealous.
Wu Shiyi mischievously played along, implying they had discussed marriage, which clearly annoyed Hou Jue. At the security company, Mr. Ma, representing Hou Zhirong, formally terminated the existing security contract with Wu Shiyi’s agency. Hou Jue, eager, immediately pushed to sign a one-on-one contract with Wu Shiyi, aiming for a "seamless connection." However, Lanqi arrived, stating he had previously arranged with Mr. Zhao to sign Wu Shiyi as soon as her contract expired.
With both Hou Jue and Lanqi vying for Wu Shiyi's services, Mr. Zhao suggested that Wu Shiyi make her own choice. Lanqi presented his offer, explaining that his group's resort hotel was opening soon and he wished for Wu Shiyi to be their security consultant, tasked with developing security plans and training staff. He also mentioned that Wu Shiyi’s parents approved of this offer. Hou Jue, though clearly anxious, told Wu Shiyi to choose freely.
After a moment of consideration, Wu Shiyi thanked Lanqi for his appealing invitation but ultimately chose to remain with Hou Jue. Lanqi, with gentlemanly grace, accepted her decision, stating he respected her choice. Overjoyed, Hou Jue embraced Wu Shiyi and swiftly signed their new contract. Meanwhile, Qian Xiaoyan was living in Hou Zhirong's villa, enjoying what she thought was her dream life.
She excitedly announced to her parents and maternal uncle that the person who had lent her the villa and car was her boyfriend. While her parents were initially happy about her finding a mature, stable, and wealthy partner, they became uneasy about the significant age difference and the fact that he hadn't met them. Qian Xiaoyan revealed her boyfriend was Hou Zhirong, 55, a widowed architectural design CEO with a son her age, who had not remarried in 20 years.
She also admitted that he had asked her to resign from her job, wanting her to enjoy life. Her parents expressed concern about her potentially becoming a stepmother and worried that their financial demands over the years had pushed her into this situation.
Her mother tearfully confessed that all the money they had asked for was saved for Qian Xiaoyan, and they had even bought a house in her name, hoping she would always have a home to return to if things didn't work out. Despite their reservations about the age, they insisted on meeting Hou Zhirong. Qian Xiaoyan, initially hesitant, eventually resolved that Hou Zhirong, as her future son-in-law, must meet them regardless of his busy schedule.
She arranged a meeting with Hou Zhirong, subtly suggesting he meet her parents, but he repeatedly made excuses about his busy work schedule and needing his assistant to manage his appointments. He avoided committing to a date, even after Qian Xiaoyan assured him that her parents were aware of his age and past, and did not mind. Growing increasingly frustrated by his evasiveness, Qian Xiaoyan directly asked Hou Zhirong if he intended to marry her.
He was taken aback, only managing vague responses about "long-term consideration" and needing more time to understand each other. He confessed his love but stated he was "too tired" to bear the "weight of marriage," suggesting they simply enjoy their pure affection without the pressure of matrimony. Qian Xiaoyan, however, deeply longed for a husband, a family, and a happy marriage, believing she could change his mind and make him experience the beauty of marriage.
She called him, demanding to see him, but Hou Zhirong offered to transfer money for her parents' expenses, saying it was better they didn't meet for now. This callous offer solidified Qian Xiaoyan’s realization that he never intended to marry her, only to support her. Heartbroken and enraged, she kicked him and immediately blacklisted him, telling him to "roll." Later, a distraught Qian Xiaoyan confided in Wu Shiyi at Hai Xing's restaurant.
She tearfully admitted her impulsiveness, her desperate desire for marriage, and her realization that Hou Zhirong only wanted to "raise her," which she couldn't accept. Wu Shiyi comforted her, acknowledging that Qian Xiaoyan, with her strong character, would never be content with such a life. She remarked that it was not too late to realize the truth now. Unbeknownst to them, Hai Xing was observing from upstairs.
Hou Jue, also present, taunted Hai Xing for his cowardice, urging him to go downstairs and talk to Qian Xiaoyan instead of just watching. Hai Xing, trying to appear magnanimous, claimed his love was kept "in his heart" and that "distance creates beauty," but Hou Jue called him "worthless." Wu Shiyi then playfully told Hai Xing that his wish had come true: Qian Xiaoyan had broken up with Hou Zhirong.
Hai Xing immediately became ecstatic, despite attempting to feign sympathy and denounce Hou Zhirong as an "asshole." Hou Jue continued to mock his transparent joy and lack of courage. Meanwhile, Hou Zhirong was in a furious meeting with his company's designers. He lambasted them for submitting designs that merely made "minor adjustments" instead of the "comprehensive transcendence" and "soul" he demanded for an international project.
A manager explained that the current design team lacked the structural capability for such ambitious projects. Furthermore, attempts to recruit external talent were unsuccessful because many potential candidates were unwilling to join, especially after the "Bao Xiaohan incident," and the company's current offers were not competitive enough. Hou Zhirong criticized the designers for being focused solely on money and lacking artistic vision.
Facing the crisis, a senior manager suggested the quickest solution was to re-hire Bao Xiaohan and Hou Jue, or at least one of them. Mr. Ma specifically advised bringing back Bao Xiaohan, emphasizing his unparalleled design abilities and the critical need to prevent him from being poached by rival companies.
