Lucky With You Episode 13 Recap
> Lucky With You Recap
Hou Jue, eager to join the Sanda training class, found the current session full. He told Hai Xing that he couldn't wait half a year for the next session and insisted that Hai Xing, who was already enrolled for Qian Qian's sake, withdraw from the class so Hou Jue could take his spot. Hai Xing refused, explaining he couldn't risk Qian Qian getting fired for bending the rules.
Hai Xing even joked about marrying Qian Qian if she got fired for letting Hou Jue enroll, outlining a domestic future with two children, and boasting about learning tricks from Qian Qian to "conquer" her. Unbeknownst to them, Qian Qian overheard their entire conversation. She confronted them, asking who was getting fired and who was getting married, making Hai Xing extremely embarrassed. Hou Jue then directly asked Qian Qian to let him into the Sanda class.
After he offered several unconvincing reasons, Qian Qian accepted his final, more truthful excuse about relieving boredom and stretching his muscles. She agreed to an assessment. During the grueling training, Qian Qian put both Hou Jue and Hai Xing through intense physical exercises, including running many laps and performing numerous frog jumps. When Hai Xing questioned the purpose of stretching in Sanda, Qian Qian explained its importance for flexibility and injury prevention.
She also demonstrated a carry-out fall technique using Wu Shiyi as a partner, who was repeatedly thrown to the ground. Hou Jue, visibly distressed by Wu Shiyi's rough treatment, was hesitant when it was his turn to practice, resulting in him being knocked down by Wu Shiyi with a punch, though the fall itself was gentle. After the session, a team doctor checked on Wu Shiyi's injuries, expressing sympathy for her rigorous training.
Qian Qian also showed concern, telling Wu Shiyi to take it easy as a trainee. She then playfully suggested that Hou Jue seemed to have feelings for Wu Shiyi, noting his "childish but cute" behavior. Wu Shiyi quickly dismissed the idea, stating that Hou Jue was simply a sentimental person who would show the same care to anyone. She then asked Qian Qian for an update on the police investigation into her case.
Qian Qian's personal life was also becoming complicated. She received a call from her father, informing her that her parents, aunt, uncle, and two cousins would be coming to visit. Despite her attempts to book a hotel due to her small apartment, her father insisted they stay with her.
Qian Qian confided in Wu Shiyi about the financial burden, explaining that her parents frequently asked her for money using various excuses, such as contributing to her cousin's new car or buying an apartment for her in their hometown for which she would pay the mortgage. This left Qian Qian under considerable pressure, leading her to pursue a golf instructor certification to earn extra income. At the golf course, Qian Qian coincidentally met Hou Zhirong.
After he nearly hit her with a golf ball and attempted to make a lighthearted excuse, Qian Qian astutely pointed out his lack of exercise. Impressed by her candidness and skill, Hou Zhirong offered to cover her game fees and challenged her to a match. During their interaction, Hou Zhirong introduced himself as "Hou" and, after some playful banter about being called "Uncle Hou" versus "Brother Hou," settled on "Mr. Hou."
Qian Qian revealed her profession as a coach at a security company, training security personnel and bodyguards. This immediately caught Hou Zhirong's attention, as he had recently hired a bodyguard for his son, Hou Jue, who was known for getting into trouble. Realizing she was speaking to Hou Jue's father, Qian Qian became upset, directly confronting him about Fang Lu, his son's friend, falsely accusing Wu Shiyi of stealing a necklace.
She passionately defended Wu Shiyi, asserting that her friend was incapable of such an act. Hou Zhirong quickly intervened, apologizing on his son's behalf. He clarified that Fang Lu was merely an acquaintance of Hou Jue and not his girlfriend, and that he himself was unaware of Fang Lu's malicious actions. He promised to personally call Mr. Zhao, the director of Qian Qian's company, to explain the situation, emphasizing his desire to prevent an innocent person from being wronged.
Before he left for an urgent work call, Hou Zhirong asked to exchange WeChat contacts with Qian Qian, making future arrangements easier. Qian Qian thanked him for his help regarding Wu Shiyi. Meanwhile, Lanqi's secretary informed him that Wu Shiyi was no longer working at Zhirong Construction and had returned to the security company, replaced by a male bodyguard. Concerned, Lanqi immediately cancelled his meeting and messaged Wu Shiyi, insisting on seeing her.
Wu Shiyi, initially reluctant due to work, eventually agreed to meet him at the company, asking him to keep it from her parents. After hearing the full story, Lanqi unconditionally believed Wu Shiyi but suspected Hou Jue was behind the "despicable means" to force her departure, arguing that Hou Jue's girlfriend's actions implicated him. Wu Shiyi, however, defended Hou Jue, stating he was not involved and the police were handling the matter.
Lanqi offered to hire a lawyer to seek double compensation, but Wu Shiyi refused, wanting only a swift resolution to clear her name; otherwise, she would have to leave the industry. Lanqi urged her to consider a less dangerous and less emotionally taxing career, even offering to help with her father's debts, but Wu Shiyi steadfastly refused, professing her love for her work and the self-worth it brought her.
Lanqi ultimately respected her decision, promising to stand by her side and support her through any future challenges. Lanqi then confronted Hou Jue directly, informing him that Wu Shiyi was no longer alone and that he would be her steadfast supporter. He sternly warned Hou Jue that he would not escape responsibility for what had transpired, leaving Hou Jue utterly bewildered.
Separately, Hou Jue attempted to purchase an identical replacement for the necklace he had given Fang Lu, only to discover it was a limited edition and sold out everywhere. Hai Xing came to his rescue, finding what he claimed was an identical necklace online, advertised with a "three times compensation for fakes" guarantee, assuring Hou Jue of its quality and value. Later, Wu Shiyi noticed Qian Qian happily chatting on WeChat and smiling in an "unusual" way.
Qian Qian brushed it off as a conversation with a "friend." Wu Shiyi pressed her, asking to meet this mysterious friend, but Qian Qian maintained it was just a casual acquaintance she had met once, emphatically stating that a romantic relationship between them was "impossible," and swiftly changing the subject back to food. Meanwhile, Fang Lu and Mary celebrated the success of their scheme against Wu Shiyi.
However, Fang Lu was plagued by guilt and anxiety, fearing Hou Jue's reaction if he ever discovered the truth. She revealed to Mary that she would not be going to Dubai for a client, as she had developed genuine feelings for Hou Jue during their time together and refused to do anything that would betray him. Mary reacted with anger, accusing Fang Lu of being ungrateful after all her help. She returned the necklace Hou Jue had given Fang Lu, signifying the end of their friendship. Fang Lu then offered the necklace back to Mary as a form of compensation.
