Love a Lifetime Episode 29 Recap
> Love a Lifetime Recap
Lu Yizhou arrived at the Sacred Temple at a critical moment to subtly stop Mo Huan and protect Rong Su. A messenger from Buzhuo had just informed Mo Huan that Xuan Ye was leading Dragon Howl City disciples in an attempt to breach the Ling Sect. Mo Huan questioned Lu Yizhou whether to prioritize dealing with Rong Su or Xuan Ye.
Rong Su, who was present, interjected, stating that she had anticipated the possibility of not returning and had instructed Xuan Ye to detonate gunpowder at the Ling Sect's entrance if she failed to return, intending for mutual destruction. Mo Huan acknowledged Rong Su's unexpected cunning but ultimately dismissed it as futile.
She then ordered Lu Yizhou to take disciples to guard the entrance, remove the gunpowder, and kill all incoming Dragon Howl City disciples but to specifically keep Xuan Ye alive. Xuan Ye was to be sent back to deliver a message to Rong Jingfeng: Dragon Howl City was facing its doom. Lu Yizhou followed the order, reiterating at the entrance that all but the leader, Xuan Ye, were to be killed.
Xuan Ye confronted Lu Yizhou, declaring that Lingxu Pavilion would not be slaughtered and that this was the beginning of Dragon Howl City paying its blood debt. Lu Yizhou countered that Rong Su knew she couldn't escape Mo Huan and had planned for a collective demise. He also revealed that the explosives had been disarmed. Lu Yizhou spared Xuan Ye's life to send a message to Rong Jingfeng, demanding that he personally atone for Lingxu Pavilion's blood debt.
Rong Su was then taken to the dungeon and bound by iron chains. Lu Yizhou visited her, intentionally taunting her newfound composure, which was a stark contrast to her usual unease at the mention of Mo Huan. Rong Su, understanding his deep-seated hatred for Dragon Howl City, resigned herself to his judgment, daring him to kill her and stating that she wouldn't beg for mercy or allow Dragon Howl City to yield.
She described his and Mo Huan's hearts as being as dark as the dungeon itself, noting her own familiarity with fear from growing up there under Mo Huan's cruel restraints. Lu Yizhou, however, claimed he no longer felt pity for her and revealed that all of her Dragon Howl City disciples were dead, except for Xuan Ye, who was sent back to report to Rong Jingfeng that this was merely the beginning of their suffering.
Despite his harsh words, Rong Su saw through his facade, telling him that this cruel persona was not his true self and that he couldn't deceive her. She challenged him, reminding him that he had protected her by intervening at the Sacred Temple just in time. Lu Yizhou vehemently denied any lingering affection, asserting that he would destroy Dragon Howl City, kill her father, and ensure no one survived, expecting her to feel no sentiment for him afterward.
Rong Su, calling his bluff, dared him to carry out his threat, saying it would also satisfy Mo Huan. In response, Lu Yizhou declared that in three days, at the Sacred Temple, he would personally sever her meridians and cripple her martial arts. He vowed to have her hands sent back to Dragon Howl City, eager to see if Rong Jingfeng valued his daughter's life or his position as city master more.
Rong Su, enraged by his words, demanded he repeat the threat while looking her in the eye. When Mei Ying awoke, he discovered the Chihua Pill had entered his heart meridians, causing him great distress. Just then, Xiaoxiao from the Hall of Sickness arrived, dispatched by Rong Jingfeng to assist him. Xiaoxiao immediately inquired about his injuries and the whereabouts of his Hall of Life disciples.
Mei Ying claimed his disciples were ambushed and all killed during their investigation of Lingxu Pavilion, implying survivors from Lingxu Pavilion were retaliating. Xiaoxiao openly questioned why he was the only one who survived. Mei Ying tried to assert his authority as a hall master, but Xiaoxiao scoffed, hinting that his position was obtained through disreputable means and stating that she was only there out of duty as ordered by Rong Jingfeng.
She reminded him that his recent promotion wouldn't protect him from blame for such heavy casualties. Xiaoxiao then asked to examine his injuries, but Mei Ying quickly refused, claiming they were minor. Sensing his evasiveness, Xiaoxiao departed but not before ordering two of her disciples to secretly monitor Mei Ying's every move and report any anomalies. After Xiaoxiao left, Mei Ying, alone, privately fretted over the Chihua Pill now within him, wondering who was behind this secret attack.
Rong Hua brought Nalan Yue to Black Rock Mountain and introduced him to her grand-master, Bai Su, and her master, Bai Weizhi. She explained that with their help, she had managed to cut off the Snow Alliance's intelligence network. On the way, Nalan Yue subtly revealed knowledge of the Mei Mansion's renovation, surprising Rong Hua since that information was supposedly confined to Black Rock Mountain.
He quickly covered his tracks by claiming he had merely inquired about renovations while visiting his mother's grave. Upon their arrival, Bai Weizhi was initially upset with Rong Hua for having caused worry, but his mood quickly shifted when Nalan Yue, after a brief slip, respectfully addressed him as "Master," explaining that since he was now married to Rong Hua, he should adopt her form of address and consider their past grievances settled. Bai Weizhi was overjoyed.
However, Bai Su remained observant. He directly questioned Nalan Yue about his disappearance and past injuries, to which Nalan Yue vaguely replied that he had been gravely wounded protecting others during a chaotic period and was too ashamed to face his people after Lingxu Pavilion's destruction. Rong Hua interceded on his behalf, offering to cook a meal for everyone.
Later, after Nalan Yue and Rong Hua had left, Bai Su told Bai Weizhi that Nalan Yue's evasive answers indicated he was hiding something and possessed a deeper mind than he let on. Bai Su ordered him to discreetly investigate Nalan Yue's recent movements, the nature of his injuries, and who had treated him. Meanwhile, Mei Xueman learned from a subordinate that Nalan Yue had reconciled with Rong Hua and was residing at Black Rock Mountain.
Distraught and worried that his actions were impulsive and that his still-recovering powers put him at grave risk, Mei Xueman decided to go to Black Rock Mountain. Cang Qi offered to accompany her. As they navigated the bumpy mountain paths, Cang Qi cautiously asked Mei Xueman why she persisted in her unrequited devotion to Nalan Yue.
Mei Xueman acknowledged the apparent foolishness of her feelings but confessed she couldn't help but want to be by his side, finding solace merely in his well-being, without needing his love in return. Cang Qi stated he understood her feelings. They soon spotted Nalan Yue's location, and Mei Xueman expressed her concern that his presence at Bai Su's residence would easily expose him, given Bai Su's formidable martial arts.
Nalan Yue appeared, reassuring them he knew what he was doing and instructed them to stick to their original plan to avoid detection by Bai Su and his people. He told them he merely wanted to confirm Rong Hua's safety before leaving. That evening, as the meal was served, Nalan Yue was nowhere to be seen. Worried he might have left without saying goodbye again, Rong Hua confided in Bai Weizhi.
He agreed that Nalan Yue seemed changed—more somber, taciturn, and with a colder aura. Rong Hua admitted she had noticed it too but hesitated to ask, fearing it would bring back painful memories of Lingxu Pavilion's destruction. She resolved that as long as he was safe, the change was understandable. Later, Nalan Yue joined Rong Hua outside. When she asked who he had been talking to, he feigned ignorance.
He then chided her for being out in the cold, but she explained she was worried he might leave without saying goodbye again. They shared a playful moment, with Nalan Yue joking about tying her up. He lamented that the rainy weather prevented them from stargazing, recalling their first encounter when she mistakenly thought him a thief, and how that night's stars were the most beautiful he had ever seen.
To cheer her up, he playfully said that while there were no stars in the sky, he could see one reflected in his own eye. Rong Hua blushed and teased him for his cheesy lines, but he earnestly declared his sincerity, even offering to let her "take his heart out" to see for herself. As Rong Hua reached out and touched his chest, Nalan Yue recoiled, appearing visibly nervous, which immediately piqued her suspicion.
He quickly covered by expressing his wish to watch the stars with her for a lifetime, and Rong Hua, seemingly pacified, agreed that they would have plenty of time once everything was settled. The next morning, Nalan Yue and Rong Hua were picking sweet fruit in the wilderness. During a playful exchange, Nalan Yue suddenly experienced a severe backlash from the Chihua Pill within him, forcing him to suppress the intense pain and hurry back to their lodging.
There, they found Liuli, who had come to deliver a message, tied up inside the room by Bai Weizhi, with the two bickering endlessly. Upon Rong Hua's intervention and untying of Liuli, Liuli immediately reported that Ziyan, in Dragon Howl City, was critically ill and in a coma, with not much time left. Bai Weizhi was distraught upon hearing about Ziyan's critical condition, blaming Rong Jingfeng for his neglect and regretting leaving Ziyan in Dragon Howl City.
He impulsively declared his intention to return, vowing to cure Ziyan or seek Bai Su's help if he failed, and then take her away from the city. Nalan Yue cautioned him that entering Dragon Howl City might be easy, but leaving would be far more difficult. Rong Hua urged Bai Weizhi to remain calm and formulate a well-thought-out plan.
She suggested that while Dragon Howl City might lack a cure, Bai Su, with his profound medical knowledge, surely had the means to heal Ziyan. Liuli then took Rong Hua aside, revealing that Mei Ying was lingering around his ancestral home in town, determined to find its new owner. Rong Hua saw this as an opportunity to deal with Mei Ying.
With a firm resolve, Rong Hua and Bai Weizhi approached Bai Su to inform him of their decision to return to Dragon Howl City to rescue Ziyan. Rong Hua asked for Bai Su's permission, while Bai Weizhi assured him that he had made all necessary arrangements for Bai Su's safety during their absence.
