The twelve golden drums of Dragon Howl City resounded, a signal reserved for moments of grave crisis. Rong Hua went to investigate, while Lin Jing, discerning the Tang Sect’s true intentions, dispatched Lu Yizhou to assist her. The Tang Sect’s two grand elders, accompanied by elite iron-masked warriors, had arrived at the city gates, demanding Mei Ying. The fact that Tingfeng Town, Dragon Howl City’s forward outpost, had provided no prior warning of their approach suggested a premeditated conspiracy.

With Bai Weizhi absent and Rong Jingfeng occupied treating Zi Yan, Rong Su ordered Xuan Ye to open the city gates, allowing the Tang Sect members to enter only after disarming. Rong Su then confronted the grand elders, but despite Rong Hua’s attempts at mediation, a battle was inevitable. Fearing the city’s fall, Rong Hua urgently sought Mei Ying’s help. Mei Ying, acknowledging the potential danger to himself if the Tang Sect breached the city, agreed to accompany her.

As Lu Yizhou joined the fray, the Tang Sect forces suddenly retreated from Dragon Howl City. Rong Su deduced this was a ruse to lure Dragon Howl City’s disciples out. Despite knowing it was a trap, she declared she needed this fight. She instructed Xuan Ye to remain in the city to tend to the casualties, then led Lu Yizhou and other disciples to pursue the Tang Sect.

Outside, Tingfeng Town lay in ruins and deserted, clearly having fallen the previous night. The Tang grand elders stood amidst a fresh wave of elite iron-masked warriors. Rong Su and Lu Yizhou fought fiercely, eventually slaying all the iron-masked men. The grand elders remained unfazed, gloating that the Xiao family had already infiltrated Dragon Howl City and would soon claim the city lord’s head.

Indeed, inside Dragon Howl City, Xuan Ye was tending to the injured when seemingly lifeless bodies suddenly rose, attacking and knocking him unconscious. Meanwhile, in the Herbal Garden, Lin Jing sensed intruders. Three figures, known as the Nameless of the Xiao Family, confronted him.

Lin Jing revealed he knew their secret: they were not a single person but three individuals, members of the renowned Baili sword-forging family from the Nanhai region, bound by an old promise to protect the Xiao family. When they refused his offer to join Dragon Howl City, Lin Jing, revealing his true identity as Nalan Yue of Lingxu Pavilion, prepared to fight.

Rong Hua arrived and, working with Mei Ying, lured the Nameless into a tight space where she scattered Red Flame Lotus pollen, causing poisonous insects to swarm and bite them. As the Nameless were defeated, the Chihua Pill began to condense. Nalan Yue, Rong Hua, and Mei Ying then headed to Tingfeng Town to aid Rong Su and Lu Yizhou. At Tingfeng Town, Lu Yizhou took a poisoned blade to protect Rong Su from the Tang elders.

Just then, Rong Jingfeng and Bai Weizhi arrived. Rong Jingfeng ordered his men to unleash a purple mist into the air. The Tang grand elders scoffed, claiming their bodies were immune to all poisons. However, within moments, they began to vomit blood. Rong Jingfeng explained that the mist was not poison but the Jieyou Pill, specifically developed by Zi Yan for the Tang Sect.

When dispersed, the pill’s embedded antidotes would infiltrate the skin and hair, systematically neutralizing the various poisons in the Tang members’ bodies. This disruption would paradoxically cause poisoning symptoms in their toxin-accustomed systems, leading to irreparable damage to their vital meridians. As death approached, the two grand elders attempted to escape, vowing to expose Rong Jingfeng’s misdeeds. Mo Huan intercepted and captured the second elder.

The grand elder, now blinded and hiding in the forest, stumbled upon Nalan Yue and Rong Hua. With his dying breath, he revealed Rong Jingfeng’s true identity: a former close disciple of Mo Huan in the Ling Sect. To become the supreme martial arts master, Rong Jingfeng had betrayed the Ling Sect, severely injured Mo Huan, and massacred the Nalan family in the Northern Wastelands to seize the Chihua Pill.

The grand elder recounted witnessing the horrific bloodbath in the Northern Wastelands, a memory he would carry to his grave. Before Nalan Yue could press further, Rong Jingfeng arrived and summarily executed the grand elder. Noticing Nalan Yue’s profound distress, Rong Jingfeng grew suspicious. Rong Hua quickly intervened, downplaying the elder's words as delirious nonsense to deflect Rong Jingfeng’s suspicion. Nalan Yue, feigning ignorance of the Nalan family, probed Rong Jingfeng about his knowledge of them.

Rong Jingfeng deflected, speaking vaguely of the costs of ambition and the fleeting nature of history. He asserted that he had earned everything through painstaking effort and refused to dwell on past grievances, questioning if Nalan Yue’s own hands were clean. As Rong Jingfeng left with Rong Hua, Nalan Yue silently vowed to grow strong and avenge the Nalan family’s sacrifice, upholding justice in Jianghu.

Later, Rong Jingfeng questioned Rong Hua about Nalan Yue’s true identity, specifically his angry reaction to the Nalan family’s story. Rong Hua defended Nalan Yue, explaining his sadness for the innocent victims and emphasizing his loyalty in protecting Dragon Howl City and the Chihua Pill. Rong Jingfeng, still contemplative, expressed his own conflicted feelings about the stained world and hoped Rong Hua would understand his difficult path.
