Yuan Ling ordered several elite soldiers to thoroughly investigate Duo Xia's situation and bring her back at all costs. Xiao Xu received news that Yuan Hao was passing nearby while escorting grain and fodder. Thinking that Yuan Hao was once a prince of Da Wei, he decided to arrange men to ambush the army escorting the grain and fodder, intending to capture Yuan Hao alive.

In the desolate valley, Yuan Hao, clad in golden armor, led his army to the border of the A Cai ethnic group. In a few days, they would reach Taoyang City and rendezvous with Yuan Ling. Duo Xia finally returned from the rebel camp. She told Yuan Ling that although Mu Kaisha acted rashly, he was actually meticulous beneath his rough exterior and very familiar with the city's terrain.

Now, allied with Xiao Xu, they would inevitably be attacked from front and back, making victory hard to secure. Upon hearing this, Yuan Ling decided to plan ahead, taking a defensive stance to launch an offensive, starting by targeting the enemy's grain and fodder. In the steep and perilous valley, numerous fireballs suddenly rolled down from the cliffs. Liang soldiers surrounded Yuan Hao's army layer by layer.

In an instant, most of the grain and fodder were destroyed, and the Wei army suffered heavy casualties. The remaining soldiers raised their shields and, under Yuan Hao's leadership, escorted the grain and fodder to break through the encirclement. Elder Xi Xie was successfully rescued but was severely wounded. Master Mo told Xi Xie about Feng Qingchen, and only then did Xi Xie realize that Feng Qingchen had come from another place through the Nine-Turn Ling Long Array.

Master Mo knew that Feng Qingchen was trapped in the Forbidden Palace and hurried to rescue her. Deep within the dungeon, Yuan Ming was about to strike a fatal blow on Feng Qingchen. Severely wounded, Feng Qingchen coughed up blood and collapsed to the ground. Fortunately, Master Mo arrived in time. Yuan Ming told Yuan An about capturing Master Mo, vehemently claiming that Yuan Ling and Yuan Zhan conspired with the Witch Clan and should be condemned.

Yuan An was furious, rebuking Yuan Ming for framing his brothers and for his wolfish ambition. He even issued an imperial decree demoting Yuan Ming to a commoner and exiling him to the frontier, stating that his throne would be passed to anyone but Yuan Ming. Yuan Ming listened and malevolently said, "If one day Father finds himself deserted by all, do not forget everything that happened today."

Yuan Hao led the remaining army and grain and fodder into an abandoned ancient city. With the enemy close behind and the situation critical, they could only take shelter first. Yuan Hao sent someone to inform Yuan Ling and await rescue. General Chai, the main commander of the Liang army, also guarded outside the ancient city. Xiao Xu planned to trap Yuan Hao for a few days first.

Yuan Ling arranged for Duo Xia to lead the army in a breakout, while he and Eleventh would distract Mu Kaisha and Xiao Xu's main army. However, Duo Xia insisted on fighting alongside Yuan Ling. As night fell, the reinforcements were still delayed, and Yuan Hao was deeply worried. Zhang Shu accompanied him, comforting Yuan Hao that he could actually withdraw safely first, but Yuan Hao remained principled.

As a Crown Prince, he couldn't do much for the common people; now was the time to repay them. Deep in his heart, he was still thinking of Luan Fei, and perhaps it wouldn't be long before he could join her. Duo Xia knew Yuan Ling was troubled by Yuan Hao being trapped and comforted him, telling him not to worry about the A Cai ethnic group.

Yuan Ling, however, intended to deal with the situation by remaining calm and observing. Meanwhile, in the Wei Kingdom's dungeon, Feng Qingchen looked at the broken jade bracelet in her hand. She had to see Yuan Ling. Thinking of this, she tried to forcefully break through the enchantment but was injured by the dungeon's restraints.

Xiao Xu and Mu Kaisha conspired that they could use Yuan Ming to destroy Yuan Ling and the Black Armored Army, and then the Wei Kingdom would surely fall. The two decided to break camp that very night and head straight for the ancient city. Duo Xia told Yuan Ming that to save Yuan Hao now, they would have to bypass Mu Kaisha's main army, but if Mu Kaisha counterattacked, Taoyang City would be in grave danger.

Eleventh was extremely worried; Yuan Hao absolutely could not fall into the hands of the Liang army. Yuan Ling planned to lead an elite surprise force to rescue Yuan Hao, but Duo Xia secretly decided to take a risk alone to end everything. Feng Qingchen was trapped in the dungeon, greatly weakened. Yuan An demanded that she reveal who one of the Twin Stars was, otherwise he would kill both Yuan Zhan and Yuan Ling.

Behind ultimate imperial power lay always a mountain of bones. Even though Feng Qingchen believed in karma and retribution, she was unable to prevent Yuan An from deciding to execute her and Master Mo, and to purge the Witch Clan tomorrow. Yuan Zhan started with the economy, hoping to gain another month for Yuan Ling's war efforts. At the same time, if he controlled Da Wei's national treasury and annual tribute, he would have leverage to save Feng Qingchen.

However, Feng Qingchen was to be executed tomorrow, and there was no time. Yuan Zhan was extremely anxious and immediately entered the palace to seek an audience with the Emperor. But Yuan An refused to see him. Yuan Zhan could only persist, kneeling outside Zhiyuan Hall to wait.
