Feng Qingchen was tidying up herbs, and Yuan Ling was painting beside her. Every stroke depicted Feng Qingchen's graceful silhouette. Feng Qingchen looked back at him; her smiling eyes were bright, like a new crescent moon in the sky. Her pure smile warmed Yuan Ling's heart. A talented scholar and a beautiful lady, a perfect match, this fated couple finally came together.

As night fell, deep in the bamboo forest, Yuan Ming told Wu Pinging that the Dark Witch Elder had been eliminated. Now the Dark Witches were to be put under Wu Pinging's command, and he wanted her to quickly consolidate their power to help him. Wu Pinging was willing to stay by Yuan Ming's side.

It turned out that a year ago, Wu Pinging, a disciple of the Jade Blood Pavilion, made a mistake and was being punished by Ding Shui. Yuan Ling returned to his residence and handed the completed portrait of Feng Qingchen to Shi Yi, instructing him to give it to Yuan Hao as a portrait for the selection of imperial consorts.

Shi Yi lowered his head and admitted his mistake to Yuan Ling, confessing that he had asked Yuan Zhan not to let Cai Qian participate in the selection. Yuan Ling smiled slightly upon hearing this, thinking that Shi Yi, who wasn't afraid to fight on the battlefield, was completely smitten by Cai Qian. Yuan Zhan sought out Prime Minister Yin to discuss Cai Qian's participation in the selection, explaining the pros and cons one by one.

Prime Minister Yin fully agreed, stating that he could not allow a daughter of the Yin family to become a casualty in court struggles. The next day, Elder Tao Yao came to the imperial court to meet Yuan An. Tao Yao's attitude was firm, hoping to clear the Witch Clan's grievances. Yuan An then questioned his officials for not daring to remonstrate and for being confused along with him, causing all the officials to kneel. Seeing this, Tao Yao also admitted that what happened that day was indeed a misunderstanding and that the Witch Clan also had faults. Yuan An then issued an imperial decree to restore the Witch Clan's position of assisting the royal family and to rebuild Lijing Heaven.

After the Witch Clan's innocence was cleared and the news of Prince Ling's selection of consorts was announced to the world, the whole nation celebrated. Cai Qian excitedly went to prepare rouge and powder for the selection of imperial consorts. Her wish since childhood was to marry her fourth brother.

Shi Yi saw her so happy, and though he knew Cai Qian's name was not on the selection list, he couldn't bear to tell her, and could only accompany her as she ran around playfully. Meanwhile, Feng Qingchen and Yuan Ling were once again walking hand in hand by the lake. Yuan Ling noticed that Feng Qingchen's current carefree demeanor was much more beautiful than her previous worried, frowning appearance.

Feng Qingchen thanked Yuan Ling for helping the Witch Clan clear their grievances and for staying faithfully by her side. Hearing this, Yuan Ling embraced Feng Qingchen deeply, saying, "If you want to repay me, then be my Princess Ling." Feng Qingchen smiled, and readily replied, "Alright." Feng Qingchen returned to her residence. Prime Minister Feng told her that His Royal Highness Prince Ling had personally drawn a portrait of Feng Qingchen and sent it to the palace.

It seemed Prince Ling's decision was made, but he wondered what Feng Qingchen's intentions were. Feng Qingchen, in turn, asked Prime Minister Feng which prince he had chosen. Prime Minister Feng replied that as a daughter of the family, she would one day understand that she could only rely on herself. Yuan Zhan saw Feng Qingchen's portrait. He asked Feng Qingchen if she truly wanted to participate in the selection of consorts.

Feng Qingchen frankly stated that this time, it was her willing choice and she was determined to succeed. Yuan Zhan finally confirmed Feng Qingchen's intentions, but he was wrong, wrong for betting with Feng Qingchen's heart, and now only sorrow remained for himself. As for Feng Qingchen, she was grateful for Yuan Zhan's constant care, and from now on, she would choose to trust Yuan Zhan.

Cai Qian came again to make things difficult for Duo Xia, but she learned from Duo Xia that she was not on the list for the selection of imperial consorts. She guessed that her seventh brother, Yuan Zhan, was behind it. Cai Qian angrily went to find Yuan Zhan, questioning why he wouldn't even give her this chance.
