The next day, Yuan Ling came to report everything he had investigated to Yuan An. Upon hearing this, Yuan An was even more determined to exterminate the Witch tribe. Yuan Ling informed Yuan An of the antagonism between the Dark Witches and the Witch tribe, stating that those Witch tribe members who had been wronged should not be killed.

Yuan Ling also said that the symptoms of the person poisoned by the Dark Witches that day were the same as the Empress's symptoms when she fell ill back then. Harming the Empress might not have been the Witch tribe's doing. Yuan Ling requested a thorough investigation of this matter to ensure the peace of Great Wei.

Feng Qingchen chided Yuan Ling for easily agreeing to investigate the Dark Witches, asking how she would protect herself if there were no results. Duo Xia, however, dismissed it, saying she would just calmly await the actions of Great Wei's Crown Prince.

Luanfei handed the auspicious date chosen by the Taichang Temple to Yuan Hao, with an expression of dissatisfaction that he was eager for the marriage alliance. Yuan Hao watched Luanfei's annoyed figure depart and sighed helplessly in his heart, saying that the birth characters on the paper were actually Luanfei's own. Yuan Zhan stood tall and elegant, he gently brought his jade flute to his lips, and a clear, ethereal flute melody drifted out softly, blending with Feng Qingchen's bright and soothing guqin music.
