Justice In the Dark Episode 24 Recap
> Justice In the Dark Recap
Wei Zhanhong and his son were implicated in the case and brought under investigation. Public discussion of the Apaths reignited, stirring public fear. Qiming Reading published a new article, signaling the start of a new chapter. Du Guosheng had confessed, and the March 27th case came to a close. Pei Su asked Du Jia about his plans. Du Jia mentioned genetic modification, believing such changes completely alter one’s identity. Pei Su understood the feeling.
Du Jia doubted himself—he felt that life had no meaning, and even if he caught the killer, it wouldn’t ease the pain. Pei Su comforted him, saying time would heal the wounds. While they couldn’t change the past, they had to face it. Luo Weizhao came to pick up Pei Su, who gave his car to Du Jia and told him to go for a drive to clear his mind.
Xiao Qiao worked late into the night and caught Xiao Hanyang sneaking around. She asked why he was working on a weekend. Xiao Hanyang pretended to be busy, but when Xiao Qiao offered to treat him to dinner, he immediately got dressed and said he would treat her. Tao Zhi went on a movie date with his girlfriend. She got scared and jumped into his arms, and their relationship quickly deepened.
On a snowy late night, Minister Du visited Huo Xiao’s grave. Luo Weizhao had been waiting, knowing he would come. They went to a food stall for a meal. Luo Weizhao brought up Huo Xiao and asked to hear Minister Du talk about him. Minister Du recalled the past—Huo Xiao and Old Yang were stars at school. After starting work, case numbers rose, and a special task force was formed. Huo Xiao, though the youngest, was the most hardworking.
After becoming deputy team leader, Huo Xiao cracked the March 27th case, but the only flaw was letting Du Guosheng escape. Later, Du Guosheng resurfaced, leaving fingerprint traces. Huo Xiao continued to investigate until he was framed and died. When Minister Du rushed to the hospital, an informant slandered Huo Xiao, claiming he faked solving the case for money. Thinking about all this still pained him. Luo Weizhao asked about the details on the right bank of the Seine.
He learned they had once trusted an informant called Old Cinders, but Huo Xiao’s death made them distrustful. A scorched notebook left behind in the fire contained an address, which led to an investigation where they were told Huo Xiao had threatened them. They later discovered Du Guosheng’s fingerprints in a bar, and a bartender identified Old Cinders. Unfortunately, evidence found under Huo Xiao’s bed—including bribe gold bars—and his mother’s illness led the case to be pinned on Huo Xiao.
After hearing this, Luo Weizhao had doubts. Minister Du believed there was a traitor within the special task force. Luo Weizhao asked his father for help in accessing the original Zero Degree Project files. Families of victims protested outside, demanding justice and accusing the special task force of wrongful convictions. Luo Weizhao called a meeting, reminding everyone to stay focused. He wanted to reinvestigate the Seine fire case, believing Old Cinders was the key figure.
Xiao Hanyang applied to investigate Old Cinders, but Luo Weizhao rejected it, saying he was bad at communication, though secretly assigning him to investigate someone else. Pei Su barged in, deliberately letting Xiao Qiao in. Xiao Qiao, feeling wronged, said she wasn’t eavesdropping and knew someone inside was corrupt. She just didn’t want to be excluded. Luo Weizhao assigned her to work with Xiao Hanyang on the investigation.
Pei Su found a clue and suspected something was wrong with the ecological park. Luo Weizhao interrogated One-Eye and learned he was following orders from A13. Pei Su suspected someone had intentionally led them to capture Du Guosheng. Luo Weizhao went to the school and found something fishy on surveillance—this person was not a staff member. Tao Zhi called Xiao Wu, asking him to unlock a photo of Old Cinders’ relative.
Kong Weicheng assisted Tao Zhi in the investigation and revealed that Old Cinders had a twin brother named Lin Ming. Tao Zhi was shocked upon seeing Lin Ming—they looked exactly alike. Xiao Hanyang found information on Zhou Feng, whose husband had been fatally stabbed by a mentally ill man. Pei Su identified her as one of the first victims.
