Two months earlier. After Yang Caiwei’s death, Pan Yue’s hair turned white overnight. He returned to the Pan residence to question his father about what he knew. Ten years ago, Yang’s father was a Court of Justice official and Pan’s father his deputy. One day, Yang’s father received an anonymous tip-off about a hidden rebel force in the court, with clues pointing to Heyang. After investigating secretly, he was falsely accused and exiled upon returning.

Pan’s father, who succeeded his post, pretended to know nothing and never let Pan Yue search for Yang Caiwei. In the end, if Pan Yue hadn’t found Yang Caiwei, she wouldn’t have died. He blamed himself deeply. Upon learning that Pan Yue went to the Life and Death House, the mastermind decided to use others to kill him in Heyang. Pan Yue went alone, only to find Yang Caiwei already there.

He told her to leave quickly as he couldn’t protect her if anything happened. But Yang Caiwei clung to him, refusing to leave. The two kidnapped a man and a woman, dressed in their clothes, and infiltrated the inner court. Yang Caiwei presented Madam Chen’s name card, and they successfully entered and saw the area where tokens were exchanged. Yang Caiwei posed as Madam Chen, while Pan Yue pretended to be her delicate companion.

In a private room, someone soon beat drums, and six beauties entered the stage for a battle against wolves. Yang Caiwei gritted her teeth and cursed, as a ferocious wolf was released. Strangely, she felt her whole body burning and aroused like the others. Pan Yue noticed her odd behavior and reminded her of their purpose. Yang Caiwei took a half token to exchange, and Pan Yue mingled with the crowd to support her.

To avoid complications after achieving their goal, Pan Yue quickly dragged her away. However, Yang Caiwei began hallucinating, seeing butterflies and claiming she wasn’t Shangguan Zhi. Pan Yue was alarmed and realized there was something wrong with the tea. He gave her the antidote. After regaining clarity, she remembered she might have kissed Pan Yue and hid in a room to compose herself, only to be chased. The assailant, seeing her token, pressed her for answers.

She accidentally fell onto the wolf fighting stage. To save her, Pan Yue was wounded on the back by the wolf and killed it before escaping with her and the attacker. Pan Yue recognized the man as someone who had disguised as a musician a month ago, sneaked into the wedding room in bridal attire, and killed Yang Caiwei. His reaction confirmed Pan Yue’s suspicion. In a rage, Pan Yue tried to kill him but was stopped by Yang Caiwei.

Pan Yue believed the man had been ordered to kill her, but he refused to confess and poisoned himself. After they left, someone used Pan Yue’s wolf-killing dagger to murder the brothel master’s concubine. Zhuo Lanjiang, realizing they were being framed, tipped them off to flee, but Yang Caiwei insisted on performing an autopsy. Watching her examine the corpse, Pan Yue recalled how she used to be. Yet before him was Shangguan Zhi’s dead face.

Yang Caiwei found a ripple-patterned token on the body—could the deaths of Shangguan Zhi and her parents be linked to the Ripple Organization? Surrounded and with arrows flying from the Life and Death House, Yang Caiwei was shot in the abdomen.
