Chief Dreamer Xing Jiu, seeking the murderer of the five Ice Tribe youths, summoned sprites from the Sprite Lands through Pian Feng. The sprites, charmed by Xing Jiu's handsome appearance, immediately offered their help. Xing Jiu explained that he needed their talkative nature to gather information from creatures in the Forest of Snow and Fog about the day the Ice Tribesmen were killed.

The sprites enthusiastically agreed, eager to find the truth, with Xing Jiu promising to grant all their wishes upon success. Pian Feng, however, privately expressed his dislike for their noisiness and admired Xing Jiu's patience. As the Ice King competition loomed the following day, Ka Suo found himself deeply conflicted about contending against Ying Kong Shi.

He longed for Li Luo and questioned why he had to choose between the people he cared for most: Li Luo, Ying Kong Shi, and his mother. Ying Kong Shi, unseen by Ka Suo, observed his brother's pain. He was, however, driven by an unwavering resolve to win the throne, restore Ka Suo's divine power, and grant him the freedom he desired, and wished for a swift end to their difficult situation.

Meanwhile, Grandma Feng Tian, sympathetic to Ka Suo's distress, approached the Ice King and offered to serve as the judge for the upcoming competition. The Ice King noted her unusual involvement in palace matters, to which she simply replied that this time was different because of Ka Suo. The Ice King declared that the first competition, a test of speed, would feature Pian Feng against Liao Jian on the Frozen Lake. The goal was to defeat the opponent.

Huang Tuo, supporting Liao Jian, assured him that he could heal any injury, while Yue Shen cautioned Pian Feng to be careful, to which he confidently replied he would win. As the battle commenced, Ka Suo was consumed by memories of a past snowstorm. He recalled how their other siblings had mocked a young Ying Kong Shi for his struggles with magic, but Ka Suo had remained by his side, playing snowballs.

Ying Kong Shi had then asked if they would ever become enemies and hate each other, to which Ka Suo firmly replied, "We definitely won't. No matter what, I will never see you as my enemy because you are my dearest little brother." Ying Kong Shi promised to protect his brother when he grew up. Now, both Ka Suo and Ying Kong Shi, standing on opposing sides, privately wished for the other's protection, highlighting the tragedy of their current rivalry.

On the Frozen Lake, Pian Feng and Liao Jian began their fierce battle. Chao Ya watched with evident concern for both men. Initially, Pian Feng's speed allowed him to gain an advantage, knocking Liao Jian to the ground. However, Liao Jian quickly retaliated with his immense strength. Pian Feng then activated his Gold-Feather Armor, an invincible defense formed from an eagle sprite's perfected feathers, stunning the observers with his unexpected power.

Liao Jian, recalling a previous conversation with Chao Ya, knew the armor's single weakness: prolonged exposure to high temperatures would cause it to soften and break apart. He unleashed a powerful attack, striking the ground and summoning a storm of fiery clouds. Pian Feng's eyes filled with despair as he realized Chao Ya must have revealed this secret to Liao Jian, effectively signaling her choice. Losing his will to fight, Pian Feng was struck by Liao Jian and ultimately defeated.

Ying Kong Shi's side secured the first victory. After the battle, Ka Suo offered his solace to a defeated Pian Feng. Huang Tuo, tasked with treating the injured, first attended to Liao Jian before being directed to Pian Feng. Shortly after, Chao Ya arrived to check on Pian Feng, puzzling Huang Tuo who was then discreetly led away by Yue Shen, leaving Chao Ya and Pian Feng alone.

Chao Ya took up her zither, a gesture she always performed when Pian Feng was injured. He asked if she still remembered, and she assured him she had "never forgotten anything about" him. This poignant moment triggered Pian Feng's memories of their shared past. He recalled his decision to leave the Sprite Lands to "create his own world" and become a man truly worthy of her.

He had even proposed that they leave together, but Chao Ya, bound by her duties as Princess to her mother and her tribesmen, had declined. Upon his return, he found her formally engaged to Liao Jian, the Bear Tribe King, and could only offer the zither music he had collected across the Three Realms as a wedding gift.

Chao Ya had asked why he returned, to which he replied that "no matter how big the outside world is, a bird must eventually return to his nest." Pian Feng now understood the depth of his regret. He had originally sought to defeat Liao Jian, hoping to make Chao Ya regret her decision not to leave with him. But now, he was consumed by his own regret for not having stayed by her side to face their challenges together.

Accepting his fate, Pian Feng resolved to move forward, declaring that he would "fulfill his duty and serve his loyalty to the Sprite Lands," safeguarding Queen Chao Ya in his capacity as chief guard. The Mermaid Saint visited Lan Shang, who was diligently practicing her leg strength for the upcoming competition. The Saint presented her with the Deep Sea Night Pearl, explaining that its radiance could temporarily blind members of other tribes on land.

Lan Shang initially hesitated, concerned about the immorality of such a tactic. However, the Saint, knowing Lan Shang was no match for Queen Chao Ya, clarified that the pearl's purpose was primarily for escape and self-preservation, urging her to run if the competition went awry. Despite the Saint's cautions, Lan Shang remained defiantly confident, proclaiming that she would not only win but "win beautifully" for Ka Suo, her king, for whom she was willing to do anything.

The second competition was announced as a test of "battling music." Queen Chao Ya of the Sprite Tribe would wield her zither, while Princess Lan Shang of the Mermaid Tribe would employ her mesmerizing voice. The objective was to see who could compel the most strong-willed Ice Tribe warriors to drop their weapons. The order of performance was decided by guessing the number of snowflakes in Grandma Feng Tian's hand. Chao Ya correctly guessed two and chose to go first.

Lan Shang, having guessed incorrectly, watched as Chao Ya began her performance. As Chao Ya played her zither, its sound waves subtly attacked the warriors' minds, affecting those with lower magic and causing them to involuntarily clap before collapsing to the ground, their weapons falling from their hands. Observers noted that the zither's sound waves could both control minds and act as a direct weapon.
