After finishing dinner, Dong Dong'en reflected on Zhang Jiamu's difficult life, sacrificing dignity for profit, and felt she preferred her own unrestrained way of living. Lou Yuan asked her what kind of person she aspired to be, and Dong Dong'en expressed a desire to be capable like him, someone who lives for their dreams with dignity. Dong Dong'en also remarked on how enjoyable it was to be professionally addressed as "Ms. Dong," a first for her.
Lou Yuan reminded her that he had called her that before. Ma Chengshu arrived at Hai's apartment with cut fruit, but she was furious and loudly rejected his gesture. Hai warned him that since they had broken up, he had no right to interfere in her life as if he were still her boyfriend. Ma Chengshu explained he was just concerned and asked for one last chance to meet at their usual place.
Hai adamantly refused, stating she would never give an ex a second chance. Dong Dong'en, who had heard the commotion, helped take the fruit inside and confirmed with Hai that she was resolved not to go. Later, Lou Yuan called Dong Dong'en to a meeting to discuss a new advertising design plan. Lou Yuan gave Dong Dong'en a special gift, adding that he had also prepared some for her colleagues at Ba'er. Afterward, while the others were outside with fireworks, Lou Yuan privately gave Dong Dong'en an invitation to Peony's annual party, asking her to be his dance partner.
Surprised, she asked if he didn't have other female friends. Lou Yuan replied that while others like Cao Ya might be available, he specifically wanted to invite her. Though flustered, Dong Dong'en accepted his offer, including his proposal to teach her to dance. Soon after, Lou Yuan went to pick up his mother, Lou Mudan, upon her discharge from the hospital. Lou Mudan was delighted with the thoughtful gift, praising Dong Dong'en and chiding her son for arriving empty-handed. While packing, Lou Yuan noticed Dong Dong'en wasn't wearing the hair tie he had given her. He reminded her to wear it to the annual party. Back at the studio, Dong Dong'en announced the invitation to the Peony annual party, exciting Xie Yi with the news of a 50,000 yuan prize for the best program. They learned that the absent Ke Maoxu was at the library, having enrolled in a course and even considering business school to better support the team.
