Following the incident with the passenger, Gu Nanting goes to the police station asking about Cheng Xiao, inquiring about "the female ground staff who had a dispute at the departure hall." He learns she has already left after giving her statement. Meanwhile, a distressed Cheng Xiao messages her roommate Xia Zhi, who replies that she just signed in for an overnight flight and is unavailable. Gu Nanting also tries to call Cheng Xiao, but her phone is busy.
After completing her flight preparations, Li Yuheng is on her way home when a colleague receives distressing news about her mother falling ill. Li Yuheng lends her umbrella to the colleague, who rushes to the hospital. While Li Yuheng waits for a taxi in the rain, Gu Nanting drives by and offers her a ride home. During the ride, Li Yuheng asks Gu Nanting about his late working hours, to which he replies he is used to it.
Gu Nanting then asks Li Yuheng if she knows where Cheng Xiao lives. Li Yuheng offers to ask her roommate Xia Zhi, who used to live with Cheng Xiao, but Gu Nanting dismisses the idea. When Li Yuheng presses him about his interest in Cheng Xiao's address, he vaguely attributes it to a missing detail in her staff records. Cheng Xiao, looking lost, arrives at a cafe where retired pilot Xie Zetian is helping his friend, the owner.
Xie Zetian notices her sitting forlornly and messages Gu Nanting. After dropping Li Yuheng off, Gu Nanting politely declines her invitation for tea, stating he has other matters to attend to. At the cafe, Xie Zetian comments to the owner about how difficult things are for the "little female pilot" and recalls being "stuck at home for a month" after his own retirement. The owner assures him "a savior" will come for her.
Gu Nanting soon arrives, his expression pained as he sees Cheng Xiao staring blankly through the window. As the cafe prepares to close, the owner instructs his staff not to disturb Cheng Xiao, who has fallen asleep at a table. He tells Gu Nanting that waking her now would only cause her insomnia. Gu Nanting quietly drapes his jacket over her and then leaves.
The next morning, Cheng Xiao wakes up and learns from a staff member that the owner had them watch over her in shifts. She discovers Gu Nanting's jacket, realizing he had been there. Later, at the company, she shares breakfast with Qiao Zhengyu, who brings homemade buns from his father's shop. He apologizes for leaving her alone during the incident, but Cheng Xiao reassures him not to worry.
Gu Nanting calls the cafe and learns Cheng Xiao has gone to the company. He prepares a sandwich for her and goes to the office, but upon hearing Cheng Xiao already having breakfast with Qiao Zhengyu, he quietly leaves. Separately, Ni Zhan meets Cheng Xiao before his flight.
Noticing her low spirits, he shares his own story of being rejected from flight school due to laser eye surgery and finding a new path in maintenance, encouraging her that challenges can be opportunities. Inspired, Cheng Xiao asserts her resolve to overcome Gu Nanting's "oppression." Ni Zhan corrects her, revealing that her transfer to Ground Handling was Jiang Tao's decision, not Gu Nanting's.
Surprised, Cheng Xiao wonders why Gu Nanting never explained, and Ni Zhan notes that he "never gives too much explanation." He also informs her that he has arranged for her to handle a flight to Beijing the next day, which he and other company leaders will be on. Cheng Xiao returns Gu Nanting's jacket, which she has washed. He tells her it was unnecessary, as he uses a specific dry cleaner.
She sincerely apologizes for misunderstanding him, having learned the truth about her transfer from Ni Zhan. She asserts her determination to keep working hard and never give up. Gu Nanting then asks why her home address is missing from her records. Cheng Xiao explains she was planning to move and intended to update it later. The next morning, Gu Nanting arrives early for his flight to Beijing and finds Cheng Xiao and Qiao Zhengyu at gate 72.
Qiao Zhengyu praises Cheng Xiao's diligence. Cheng Xiao makes a boarding announcement for a different flight to Shenzhen, urging passengers Zhang Jingya and Hu Guoping to proceed to gate 73. Gu Nanting tells Cheng Xiao he came early to see her. When Cheng Xiao notes the two passengers haven't arrived and discusses removing them from the flight with Qiao Zhengyu, Gu Nanting volunteers to inform the captain.
As the Shenzhen flight is about to depart, Hu Guoping rushes up, frantic because he cannot find his wife, Zhang Jingya. Cheng Xiao explains the plane cannot wait, and while Qiao Zhengyu suggests consulting the captain, she insists on prioritizing the search and rebooking their tickets to avoid delaying all passengers. Hu Guoping then reveals that his wife has a mental illness and doesn't know her own name.
He provides a photo and a description: a purple shirt, purple shoes, and a basket of grapes. Hearing this, Gu Nanting takes a walkie-talkie and volunteers to search for her. Cheng Xiao immediately joins him, first using the public address system to broadcast a detailed description of the missing woman. Gu Nanting finds Zhang Jingya in the amusement arcade, clinging to a young man she mistakes for her son, Manman. He gently separates them and calls the others.
Hu Guoping arrives and calms his wife by reminding her they are going to Shenzhen to see their son. As Cheng Xiao offers a tissue, Hu Guoping reveals the heartbreaking truth: Manman died from gas poisoning in Shenzhen twenty years ago. Zhang Jingya's mind broke from the grief, and she insists on going to Shenzhen for her son's "birthday," which is actually his death anniversary.
Deeply moved, Gu Nanting arranges new tickets to Shenzhen for the couple in first-row economy seats and has fresh grapes and a new shirt delivered to them. Hu Guoping gratefully gives Gu Nanting a box of grapes, noting that his son would have been Gu Nanting's age. Gu Nanting gives the box of grapes to Cheng Xiao, thanking her for her hard work.
Ni Zhan and Xu Ce board their Beijing flight, and Ni Zhan points out to Xu Ce that the diligent ground staff member is Cheng Xiao, the transferred pilot. Jiang Tao arrives late and sarcastically asks Cheng Xiao if she has adapted well. She retorts that she is learning a lot and won't disappoint the leadership. On the plane, Xu Ce questions Jiang Tao about the transfer.
Jiang Tao claims it was due to complaints, but Xu Ce criticizes the decision to misuse an expensively trained pilot. Jiang Tao concedes the arrangement was inappropriate and promises to transfer her back to the Flight Department soon. Overhearing them, Gu Nanting realizes Ni Zhan prompted Xu Ce to intervene. The emotional encounter with the elderly couple inspires Cheng Xiao to call her father and invite her parents to dinner, wanting their family to spend more time together.
