Xiao Yan came to see the Valley Master. He wanted the Valley Master to leave Villain's Valley with him, but the Valley Master and everyone else were unwilling to leave. She warned Xiao Yan that an inescapable net was waiting for him above ground, and he would be captured as soon as he appeared. Xiao Yan's mind was set on leaving, so the Valley Master no longer insisted on keeping him.
She pardoned Xiao Yan, stating that if he entered Villain's Valley again, he could have food and lodging without needing to compete. Xiao Yan left Villain's Valley with Mi Tengshan and his group. He planned to go to Silver City alone to tell the Yelan Emperor all the truth. Before parting, Mi Tengshan congratulated Xiao Yan on passing the Demonic Realm Heavenly Tribulation at such a young age.
Xiao Yan knew that he should thank Mi Tengshan and Yao Chen for helping him through the tribulation. Xiao Yan returned to Silver City alone. Outside Fa Ma's mansion, he met the Ice Emperor Hai Lao, who was waiting for him. Hai Lao told Xiao Yan about the strange occurrences in Silver City. Two days prior, he had encountered patrolling soldiers on the street, only to his surprise discover that the soldiers were not human, but walking puppets.
Xiao Yan believed that Fa Ma was involved in all of this. He wanted to enter Fa Ma's mansion to investigate everything, but he was stopped by Hai Lao. Hai Lao entered Fa Ma's mansion on behalf of Xiao Yan and gave Xiao Yan a sound transmission whistle, saying that as soon as he saw Fa Ma, he would blow the whistle, and Xiao Yan could follow the sound to find him. Hai Lao sneaked into Fa Ma's mansion.
Inside, he saw people from the Blood Sect and concluded that Fa Ma was indeed problematic. Hai Lao initially wanted to go forward and fight alongside the medicinal puppets, but the medicinal puppets kept increasing, and Hai Lao couldn't fend them off. To Hai Lao's surprise, even Nalan Jie had become one of Fa Ma's medicinal puppets. Hai Lao, understanding the situation, went to Fa Ma proactively, hoping Fa Ma would spare him.
However, Fa Ma was determined to refine Hai Lao into a medicinal puppet. Helpless, Hai Lao secretly ambushed and killed Fa Ma, but what he killed was only Fa Ma's clone; the real Fa Ma had not died. Fa Ma brought Nalan Jie before Hai Lao. Hai Lao used all his strength to deal with Nalan Jie, destroying Nalan Jie's physical body. Hai Lao was baffled by the appearance of two Fa Mas. Another Fa Ma appeared before Hai Lao.
Hai Lao knew that if he continued fighting, it would only be an endless repetition, depleting his vital energy, so he chose to surrender. Hai Lao was tied to a platform by Fa Ma. Fa Ma prepared to act on Hai Lao. He sealed Hai Lao's mouth and took the sound transmission whistle from him. Fa Ma blew the sound transmission whistle, and Xiao Yan came following the sound, but was knocked unconscious by Fa Ma's clone.
Like Hai Lao, he was tied to the platform. What one seeks everywhere in vain, one finds effortlessly when least expected. Fa Ma prepared to refine Xiao Yan into a medicinal puppet. He inserted a bone-piercing needle into Xiao Yan's skull, intending to seal Xiao Yan's spiritual consciousness. Once Xiao Yan's spiritual consciousness was sealed and he reawakened, he would become a medicinal puppet. Xiao Yan asked Fa Ma about the cultivation method for Fa Ma's clone.
Fa Ma stated that it was the Soul Severing Technique of the Soul Palace. The Soul Severing Technique had multiple realms, and the clone was the third realm of the Soul Severing Technique, achievable by gathering Dou Qi in the central meridian. Xiao Yan did as Fa Ma said. He successfully summoned his own clone, saving himself and Hai Lao. Afterwards, Xiao Yan came to the storage ring space to ask Yao Chen about methods to defeat Fa Ma.
Yao Chen said that Fa Ma's true body was inside the Soul Palace altar, and the Soul Palace altar was extremely dangerous. Yao Chen advised against Xiao Yan going there, but Xiao Yan's mind was already set. Helpless, Yao Chen had to tell Xiao Yan that if he wanted to go to the altar, he must use the Soul Severing Technique to enter the Soul Palace.

However, if Xiao Yan's Dou Qi failed to activate the Heavenly Flame, the Bone Chilling Flame would burn him to ashes, so Xiao Yan's speed had to be very fast. Xiao Yan embarked on the path to the Soul Palace.
Outside the Soul Palace was a vast expanse of blooming Higanbana flowers. Higanbana was one of the medicinal ingredients used to create medicinal puppets. Yao Chen reminded Xiao Yan to be careful of the potent venom on the flowers. After passing through the flower patch was the Soul Palace altar, which was absolutely the most terrifying place Xiao Yan had ever seen.
Xiao Yan did as Yao Chen said; he ignited the Bone Chilling Flame and passed through the giant barrier, then step by step entered the Soul Palace altar. The Soul Palace altar was incredibly dark and sinister. Inside, Xiao Yan saw his mother, but rationality told him that it was all fake, and he could only continue forward.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Hai Lao was protecting Xiao Yan, but the medicinal puppets surged out in increasing numbers, and Hai Lao could not defend against so many of them.
