In Hong Kong, while Ding Zhitong was in a meeting, receptionist Xiao Li called to inform her that Gan Yang had asked to see her. However, Ding Zhitong did not meet with Gan Yang, and his arrival distracted her from her work. When Ding Zhitong got off work, Gan Yang blocked her downstairs, but she called security, pretending not to know him and asking them to remove him.

Song Mingmei brought afternoon tea for the company but deliberately didn’t bring any for Deng Baiting, instead giving a portion to Qin Chang. She was about to finalize all the agreements with Deng Baiting, after which she would be the sole voice in the project. She was clearly in a good mood. Qin Chang asked if she wasn’t worried that he and Deng Baiting might deliberately miscalculate the valuation, but Song Mingmei said she wasn’t.

Gan Kunliang, angry at Gan Yang, demanded ten million to give up his shares. Gan Yang agreed and publicly announced he would have no further relationship with Gan Kunliang. Xu Chenxi wanted to fund Gan Yang, but he refused. Instead, he asked her to sell the engagement ring he had originally bought for Ding Zhitong and sold all the properties left by his mother.

From then on, to grow his company, Gan Yang kept reaching out to major corporations and frequently had to drink for business, which led to stomach problems. Technically, Wang Yi was always a strong support for him. Dr. Chen had also been waiting for Gan Yang’s return. After finding a breakthrough, Gan Yang borrowed twenty million from Dr. Chen and promised to pay it back within three years. Dr.

Chen said that if he couldn't, he’d have to work for him for life, which was a fair trade given Gan Yang’s worth. With the funding, Gan Yang’s career took off, and Liu Yongjuan’s condition improved significantly. Liu Yongjuan wept with heartache for her son, and Gan Yang believed things would only get better. Gan Yang wrote out his company’s development history in detail on a whiteboard and explained why he broke up with Ding Zhitong.

Ding Zhitong clenched her hands tightly but still coldly asked Gan Yang to leave, claiming she had another meeting. However, as she looked at the black text on the whiteboard, tears rolled down her cheeks. She felt the hardship Gan Yang had gone through and finally understood his reasons for ending their relationship. Gan Yang bought two concert tickets and sent a photo of them to Ding Zhitong, inviting her to the 8 PM concert.

Ding Zhitong didn’t reply, but she kept checking the time on her phone while sitting in the office. Meanwhile, Gan Yang sat outside the concert venue, waiting for her. As the clock struck eight, Ding Zhitong couldn’t focus on work anymore. She packed up and rushed out. By then, Gan Yang was already sitting silently in the rain, waiting. Ding Zhitong arrived with an umbrella, feeling a deep heartache at the sight of him.

Gan Yang smiled and reminisced about how they used to sit like this together outside. He sincerely asked her to stay and listen to the concert with him. The two sat outside, just like before, listening to the music and drinking beer. Gan Yang admitted that he used to fear that even if he told Ding Zhitong the whole truth, she might still leave. Over the years, he had stayed away so she could live peacefully and happily.

But now, he didn’t want to give up anymore. Ding Zhitong stubbornly said they could never get back together, but Gan Yang talked about meeting Feng Sheng and how, as long as he persisted, things could work out. He expressed his love for her and asked if she still loved him. Ding Zhitong’s tears fell as she admitted she did. But when Gan Yang, having not heard clearly, asked again, she said nothing more.

She also wished none of this had ever happened—then she could have loved him fearlessly. Feeling torn, Gan Yang called Wang Yi for help, asking why Ding Zhitong still couldn’t forgive him. Just as Wang Yi was about to analyze, Gan Yang received a message from Ding Zhitong, inviting him to dinner that evening. Gan Yang hung up excitedly.
