The Journey of Chongzi Episode 37 Recap
> The Journey of Chongzi Recap
After rescuing Hai Sheng from the Tianshan Sect disciples, Luo Yinfan asked Hai Sheng what kind of person Chong Zi was in his impression. Hai Sheng responded that everyone yearns for light and despises darkness, and that the light in the world is born from goodness. To him, Chong Zi was that light; her essence remained unchanged, whether she was an immortal or a demon.
Luo Yinfan, deeply affected by these words and tormented by the Heart Poison, hurried away, following his fragmented memories to the abandoned Moon Elder Temple. There, he found Chong Zi. She confronted him, asking why he was there. When he asked about an old inscription she had made, she declared it no longer concerned him, as her name was now Demon Zi.
Luo Yinfan, calling her "Chong'er," pleaded with her to return, promising to bear all her past mistakes and suggesting they could be as they once were. Chong Zi scoffed at his words, reminding him of the pain he had caused and questioning if a few simple words could mend their past. Luo Yinfan admitted that the Tears of Phoenix had left him without memory and no antidote, asking for her help to remember.
Chong Zi, however, insisted it was better for him not to remember, as it wasn't a pleasant past. She asserted that while she may have failed others, she had never failed him. As she turned to leave, Luo Yinfan desperately embraced her, begging her not to go. Noticing his Heart Poison acting up, Chong Zi coldly remarked on the connection between the poison and love, dismissing his pain as a mere hallucination.
She then fiercely broke free, warning him to leave and threatening to take his life if they ever met again. Meanwhile, Chong Zi returned to Shuiyue City, lamenting the need for protective barriers due to unwelcome intruders. To her shock, Zhuo Hao appeared, completely changed. He explained that Wang Yue had given him a Bloodthirsty Demon Pill to strengthen the Demon World, causing him to become a demon.
Zhuo Hao pledged his unwavering loyalty to Chong Zi, declaring himself her sword and shield, vowing to protect her, fight for her, and eliminate all her enemies. Chong Zi was horrified by his transformation, feeling he had lost his mind. To avenge Chong Zi, Zhuo Hao had lured Yu Xuzi, the Kunlun Sect Lord, to the Mortal World, injured him, and brought him to the Demon World.
When he presented the injured Yu Xuzi to Chong Zi, urging her to take her revenge, she refused. Yu Xuzi provoked her, claiming the immortal sects would never let her go if he died. Zhuo Hao, uninterested, swiftly killed Yu Xuzi himself. Distraught by Zhuo Hao's ruthlessness, Chong Zi confronted Mengji, accusing her of giving Zhuo Hao the demon pill.
Mengji confirmed that the demon pill could not be removed, but offered a glimmer of hope: the Zhurong fruit from Buzhou Mountain. She explained that this rare fruit, which ripens only once every ten thousand years and is guarded by fierce Soul-eating Birds, could strengthen the primordial spirit, generate clear energy, and potentially purify the turbidity in Zhuo Hao’s body, restoring his sanity.
Separately, Qin Ke sought out his master, Yu Du, to inform him of his intention to travel to Buzhou Mountain to retrieve phoenix blood, hoping it would cure Luo Yinfan's amnesia caused by the Tears of Phoenix. Yu Du, while consenting, gave Qin Ke a breath-holding pill and advised him to return if he ever felt weary. Upon arriving at Buzhou Mountain, Qin Ke spotted a young phoenix.
As he prepared to extract its blood, a red-clad youth appeared, stopping him. Qin Ke explained his purpose, and the youth, revealing he guarded the "little phoenix," agreed to give him phoenix blood if Qin Ke could make the little phoenix happy by bringing it a Zhurong fruit.
He warned Qin Ke about the extreme dangers of Buzhou Mountain, emphasizing that the ferocious Soul-eating Birds were known to peck out the primordial spirits of those who dared to steal the fruit. Undeterred, Qin Ke took the breath-holding pill and successfully retrieved a Zhurong fruit without alerting the Soul-eating Birds. He returned to the red-clad youth, who, impressed by Qin Ke's success, granted him a drop of phoenix blood.
The youth then revealed that he too was a phoenix and that his kind didn't actually need Zhurong fruits. He allowed Qin Ke to keep the fruit, explaining that it could strengthen a cultivator's primordial spirit and dispel demon qi for those who had fallen to the demonic path. Qin Ke immediately realized the fruit could help Chong Zi. Back at Nanhua, Zhuo Yao, concerned about his son's disappearance, sought counsel from Min Yunzhong.
Min Yunzhong initially chided Zhuo Yao for allowing Zhuo Hao to go to the Demon God Hall alone, fearing he was courting death. However, a disciple then reported that Zhuo Hao had lured the Kunlun Sect Lord, Yu Xuzi, to the Mortal World, wounded him, and taken him to the Demon World. This news shocked everyone. Zhuo Yao, distraught, confided that he had lost all sense of his son's presence and feared the worst.
Min Suqiu, weeping, begged Min Yunzhong to save Zhuo Hao. Yu Du, however, calmly stated that as long as Zhuo Hao was alive, there was still hope. Meanwhile, Chong Zi found herself battling the ferocious Soul-eating Birds on Buzhou Mountain, steadily losing ground. Qin Ke, who was about to leave, saw her plight and rushed to her aid.
After placing Chong Zi in a safe spot, he engaged the Soul-eating Birds in a fierce fight, eventually driving them away but sustaining severe injuries himself. In a cave, Chong Zi, seeing Qin Ke's critical condition, attempted to feed him the Zhurong fruit. However, Qin Ke, refusing to let her sacrifice the fruit for him, gently kissed her and transferred the fruit to her mouth, ensuring she consumed it.
Although Chong Zi protested that she had been seeking the fruit for Zhuo Hao, Qin Ke insisted she needed it most to return to the righteous path and quell all disturbances. As the Zhurong fruit began to work, expelling dark demon qi from Chong Zi's body, she became overwhelmed and collapsed into Qin Ke's arms. When she awoke, she was pained to see Qin Ke so weak.
He, however, was resolute, urging her not to trouble herself, assuring her that he would die alone in a quiet place, and wishing for her to once again be herself. At Nanhua, Luo Yinfan was diligently practicing the Mirror Heart Skill to regain his memories, despite showing signs of strain.
A disciple named Mu Tong rushed in with an urgent report: the demons, led by Zhuo Hao, were clashing fiercely with the Kunlun and Tianshan Sects at the foot of Kunlun Mountain. Arriving at the scene, they found Zhuo Hao besieged by immortal cultivators. Zhuo Yao frantically pleaded for his son's life, explaining that Zhuo Hao must have been forced into demonhood. However, Zhuo Hao, proclaiming that his former self was dead, refused to return home with his father.
Zhuo Yao desperately begged the immortals to spare him, promising to find a way to bring him back. The various Sages, acknowledging the severity of the demonic threat and the death of Yu Xuzi, gathered to discuss countermeasures. Luo Yinfan emphasized the need for all immortal sects, regardless of size, to unite. He proposed an exchange of disciples to balance power and reinforce the defenses of the Tianshan and Qinghua Palaces.
He also directed that mortal cities be notified to stock up on troops and provisions in preparation for a full-scale war. Finally, Luo Yinfan declared that he would personally handle Demon Zi, even if it meant dying alongside her. Meanwhile, Wang Yue, sensing that Chong Zi was in danger on Buzhou Mountain, deliberately informed Zhuo Hao of her whereabouts. Zhuo Hao rushed there, finding Qin Ke carrying a weakened Chong Zi.
Zhuo Hao demanded that Qin Ke hand her over, but at that moment, Luo Yinfan arrived, having received a message from Qin Ke. Zhuo Hao was no match for Luo Yinfan and, after a brief confrontation, Qin Ke urged him to flee while he still could. As Luo Yinfan took Chong Zi, Qin Ke handed him the phoenix blood, explaining that it could cure the Tears of Phoenix and restore his memories of Chong Zi.
With his task complete, Qin Ke collapsed from his injuries, falling into Yu Du's arms, who had just arrived. Severely wounded, Qin Ke, referring to Chong Zi as his "ugly girl," pleaded with Luo Yinfan to truly cherish her this time.
