Gu Yanxi was worried that Hua Zhi would be drawn closer and closer to the dark politics of the palace in the future, but Hua Zhi was unafraid. When Gu Yanxi heard that Manager Bai had gone to the Hua family with a betrothal gift, he became furious and stormed over with a knife. Chen Qing followed closely behind with a sack, poison, and a large machete. Hua Zhi, completely confused, stood at the door to welcome Manager Bai, unaware of what was going on.

Manager Bai took out the marriage contract to show Hua Zhi, but before she could take it, Gu Yanxi slashed it to pieces with his knife and pointed at Manager Bai, ordering him to leave. Manager Bai exclaimed, “I bear no grudge against you, brother—why do you want to break up me and Miss Fudong? ” Upon hearing this, Gu Yanxi quickly dropped the knife and timidly said, “Congratulations.

” It turned out that Manager Bai and Fudong had met during the competition, and after the opening of Zhiming Tower, they spent every day together and fell in love. Instead, he smiled, picked up a bowl, filled it with wine, and then drove a chopstick straight through the bowl and into the table. Because he had previously tried to curry favor with Prince Xian, Shen Huan’s father was afraid the investigation might lead to him. So, he planned to use Shen Huan’s marriage to form an alliance with the Jiang family, which controlled six major grain transport routes. Shen Huan disagreed, but his father tried to sway him emotionally, and Shen Huan had no choice but to comply.

Sun Xiang came to discuss business with Hua Zhi but didn’t forget to ask about Yingchun and Hua Qin. This made Hua Zhi furious. After driving Sun Xiang away, she went straight to the kitchen to find Yingchun and told her to thoroughly investigate Sun Xiang’s background. Shao Yao came to play with Shen Huan, but Shen Huan told her they couldn’t see each other anymore. The Jiang family’s daughter wanted Shen Huan to study hard and earn a title—things Shen Huan had no interest in.
