Students, having seen a newspaper article, directly confront Gu Haitang about its contents.
Gu Haitang admits the article is true but explains that her parents were excellent beauty experts who compassionately helped the deceased maintain dignity, allowing relatives to retain fond memories. The students are deeply moved by her explanation, agreeing that it's an act of kindness rather than something shameful. Lang Yuexuan visits Gu Haitang after finishing his work. Gu Haitang shows him the newspaper, expressing concern about its potential negative impact on Langlichun's business.
Lang Yuexuan suspects someone is deliberately causing trouble, a sentiment Gu Haitang shares. She urges Lang Sinian (Mr. Lang) to entrust Lang Yueming with management, and Lang Yueming himself humbly expresses his readiness. That same night, Long Mohua secretly hires people to scout Gu Haitang's school, instructing them to rally others to cause trouble there, promising a substantial reward for their success. The next morning, Gu Haitang arrives at her school to find significantly fewer students. Soon after, a group of unidentified individuals arrives to cause a disturbance. They claim the Gu family's practice of beautifying the deceased makes them unfit to teach the living and that their cosmetics are for the dead.
Chu Chu also appears, inciting the crowd and turning against Gu Haitang, demanding fee refunds. Gu Haitang attempts to reason with them, but they refuse to listen. Chu Chu secretly reports to Long Mohua, who instructs her to provoke the mob to smash the school, promising her a large sum of money; it's revealed that Chu Chu herself recruited the parents involved.
Lang Yueming arrives, exposes Long Mohua's plot, and then bravely rushes forward to protect Gu Haitang, getting severely beaten by the mob. After the confrontation, Gu Haitang bandages Lang Yueming's wounds, comforting him and urging him not to be defeated. Lang Yuexuan also rushes to the school, advising Gu Haitang to move out and reopen her school elsewhere. However, Lang Yueming strongly objects, insisting that he can protect Gu Haitang and criticizing Lang Yuexuan for not arriving more promptly.
Lang Yuexuan then escorts Gu Haitang home, where they find several seemingly ill-intentioned reporters gathered at the Gu family's door, hoping to interview Gu Haitang. Lang Yuexuan calls the reporters away, allowing Gu Haitang to enter her home. Gu Haitang's mother consoles her, recalling that Gu Haitang's father, Gu Shunqi, who was perfecting a "Hibiscus Paste" to make the deceased look alive and appear vibrant, had faced similar issues.
Gu Xiahe wants to drop out of school to help Gu Haitang shoulder the pressure, but she firmly opposes it, urging him to study hard and succeed in the future. Later, Feng Chunyan learns that Lang Yueming provided the location for Gu Haitang's school and admonishes both Lang Yueming and Lang Yuexuan for helping Gu Haitang. Lang Sinian intervenes, advising Lang Yuexuan to leave Gu Haitang.
However, Lang Yuexuan not only refuses to end their relationship but also proposes that Gu Haitang collaborate with Langlichun to develop new products, asserting that both he and Gu Haitang are working for the good of the Lang family.
