Lang Qingqing, indignant over Lang Yuexuan's beating, wanted to confront her parents, but Gu Haitang quickly stopped her, urging her not to cause more trouble. Lang Yueming personally came to apply medicine to Lang Yuexuan, who was heartbroken that Lang Yueming also suspected him. However, Lang Yueming insisted he had solid evidence, and, dismissing Lang Yuexuan's painful memories of their childhood camaraderie, asserted that the present was most fair.
Before leaving, Lang Yueming told Lang Yuexuan to reflect at home and mentioned he was under house arrest. Lang Sinian was also pained, feeling he had been too harsh on Lang Yuexuan. Quan Shu, believing in Lang Yuexuan's character, was convinced he would not harm the Lang family. Lang Sinian worried that Shi Jizhou would reveal the past to Lang Yuexuan.

Distressed, Gu Haitang consulted Master Shang, who promised to persuade Lang Sinian to cooperate. Master Shang presented some defective products to Lang Sinian, suggesting they be put up for sale, which Lang Sinian firmly rejected. As part of the deception, Gu Haitang publicly accused Master Shang of being the mole, presenting her shoes that were seen at Shi Hanglu as incriminating evidence, leading Lang Sinian to suspend Master Shang from work and ban her from the workshop. Lang Yueming and Gu Haitang staked out Shi Hanglu, where they observed Xin Qiao nervously entering and tampering with shoes. They then followed Xin Qiao as she went to meet Shi Jizhou late that night. Gu Haitang vowed to find concrete evidence to clear Lang Yuexuan's name.
