Dragon Lord, eager to marry Yi Rongrong as his concubine, doted on her every whim and tried to appease Long Mohua, who strongly disapproved of Yi Rongrong and was openly hostile towards her. Yi Rongrong, taking advantage of Dragon Lord's affection, made demands, including converting Long Mohua's boudoir into her own dressing room and forcing Long Mohua to move. Yi Rongrong also demanded that Gu Haitang be her makeup artist for the wedding, to which Dragon Lord readily agreed.

Dragon Lord later placated Long Mohua, urging her to call Gu Haitang and even threatening to cut her monthly allowance, forcing Long Mohua to comply. Meanwhile, Gu Haitang diligently applied medicine to Lang Yueming's face daily, but it showed no improvement, leaving her anxious. Feng Chunyan threatened Gu Haitang, stating that if she failed to wholeheartedly cure Lang Yueming, she would never be allowed to leave the Lang family.

Miaolan, overhearing this, secretly resolved to ensure Gu Haitang remained trapped in the Lang family for life, just like herself. Later, Long Mohua reluctantly sought out Gu Haitang to apologize for past events; Gu Haitang, however, did not dwell on it, and the two reconciled. Long Mohua then relayed the Lang family's agreement for Gu Haitang to do the new concubine's makeup, revealing the concubine was Yi Rongrong.

At night, Miaolan brought food to Lang Yueming in the west attic, feigning concern and telling him she feared Gu Haitang's eagerness to cure him was solely motivated by a desire to leave the Lang family. Lang Yueming believed her words. Gu Haitang worried about the ineffectiveness of the ointment. Lang Yuexuan, in despair about his future, attempted to cut his wrist, seemingly a suicide attempt.

Gu Haitang arrived in time, saved him, and chastised him for attempting to escape his problems. Lang Yuexuan then confessed that he was trying to create a scar to personally test the scar-removing ointment and understand why Lang Yueming's treatment was failing. Gu Haitang acknowledged his dedication to his elder brother, though Lang Yuexuan stated his motivations were no longer solely for his brother.

Lang Yuexuan continued to apply the ointment to his self-inflicted wound, and after a week, it completely healed, proving its effectiveness. Gu Haitang was puzzled why Lang Yueming showed no similar improvement and worried he might be under pressure, asking Lang Yuexuan to keep a close eye on him. Meanwhile, Xinqiao reported the Lang family's recent situation to Shi Jizhou, informing him that Lang Yuexuan and Gu Haitang were researching methods to treat Lang Yueming's facial scars.

Fearing that Gu Haitang's success would make Lang Lichun (presumably the Lang family business) a sensation, Shi Jizhou decided he couldn't wait passively and resolved to act against Gu Haitang. Having learned that Yi Rongrong was allergic to daffodil bulb juice, Shi Jizhou instructed Xinqiao to secretly replace the cosmetic powder in Gu Haitang's makeup box with one containing this allergen.

His goal was for Gu Haitang to unknowingly apply it to Yi Rongrong, thereby provoking intense hatred between the Lang and Long families, from which Shi Jizhou hoped to profit. Xinqiao, initially afraid and unwilling, was forced to comply after Shi Jizhou threatened her parents' lives. Yi Rongrong, it turned out, was also allergic to cat fur. Dragon Lord, trying to appease her, sent her a fur shawl along with Long Mohua's beloved cat, Xiaohu.

Yi Rongrong's allergic reactions led Dragon Lord to demand Xiaohu be sent away. Long Mohua vehemently refused, but Dragon Lord ultimately persuaded her with reason and emotion, forcing her to give Xiaohu to Gu Haitang. Long Mohua was heartbroken and cried profusely at the thought of parting with her cat. As Gu Haitang took out her makeup box to touch up Long Mohua's makeup, Xiaohu suddenly ran off.

While Gu Haitang and Long Mohua chased after the cat, Xinqiao attempted to swap the cosmetic powder in Gu Haitang's makeup box, but Lang Yuexuan arrived looking for Gu Haitang, forcing Xinqiao to quickly hide. Xinqiao later found Xiaohu and returned him to Long Mohua. During their conversation, Xinqiao learned of Yi Rongrong's cat allergy and suggested to Long Mohua that they teach Yi Rongrong a lesson.

Xinqiao showed Long Mohua a box of fragrant powder, claiming it was a defective cosmetic from the workshop that caused intense itching when applied. Long Mohua, looking at the powder, got an idea. Dragon Lord later sent Yi Rongrong to the Lang family for a makeup trial, where Feng Chunyan personally welcomed her. Lang Qingqing, disliking Yi Rongrong's arrogant demeanor, secretly followed them to the dressing room.

Yi Rongrong initially praised Gu Haitang's makeup skills but then immediately mocked her, stating that Gu Haitang, like Yi Rongrong herself, married an "ugly man" for money and status. Gu Haitang retorted, emphasizing that even the best cosmetics could not conceal an ugly soul and warning Yi Rongrong to behave and not be blinded by temporary gains, or she would eventually suffer. Enraged, Yi Rongrong continued to mock Gu Haitang.

Lang Qingqing, having overheard the entire exchange, burst into the room and began fighting with Yi Rongrong. Feng Chunyan quickly intervened, severely scolding Lang Qingqing and repeatedly apologizing to Yi Rongrong. Yi Rongrong, directing her anger at Gu Haitang, stormed out. Lang Qingqing, still fuming, sat sulking in the pavilion. Miaolan came to comfort her and revealed that Lang Qingqing had once been blamed for drugging Gu Haitang.

Miaolan confessed that she was the one who had accidentally mixed up tonics, causing Gu Haitang to faint, and let Lang Qingqing take the blame. Wanting to use a similar method to prank Yi Rongrong, Lang Qingqing asked Miaolan for the tonic's recipe, which Miaolan confirmed would make anyone who consumed it faint. Despite her busy schedule assisting her mother in making Yi Rongrong's wedding dress, Gu Haitang designed the dress herself and sent it to Yi Rongrong.

Meanwhile, Hu Adjutan, unable to let go of Yi Rongrong, desperately urged her to elope with him, even offering to betray Dragon Lord. However, Yi Rongrong tearfully refused, stating she did not want to implicate her parents and that they could not escape Dragon Lord's powerful influence. She told Hu Adjutan she wanted to accept her fate and asked him to consider her selfish, leaving Hu Adjutan helpless.
