Wan Mei, supervising Wan Xiang's mission to assassinate Cha Wu, cunningly disguised herself as a desperate young woman selling herself to cure her ailing father. Cha Wu, feeling sympathetic, gave Wan Mei a silver ingot and instructed her to come to Mi's Clothing Shop the following day. When Wan Mei arrived at the shop, her face already healed by Gong Zi, Cha Wu presented her with beautiful new clothes.

Cha Wu then surprisingly asked Wan Mei to be her daughter for just one night, a request Wan Mei, though startled, readily accepted. Cha Wu explained that it was her daughter's birthday, and she intended to take her to Transitory Chateau to witness the rare blooming of the epiphyllum.

Unbeknownst to Cha Wu, the chateau's proprietress had been coerced by Wan Xiang to manipulate the lucky draw, ensuring Wan Xiang would be seated with Cha Wu and Wan Mei to enjoy the wine and the flower viewing together. During their time, Cha Wu shared stories about her daughter and asked about Wan Xiang's mother, but Wan Xiang was evasive.

Cha Wu then shifted the conversation, directly asking Wan Xiang and Wan Mei which of them was there to kill her and usurp her position as Supreme Killer. She revealed she had long seen through the deception and knew someone intended to assassinate her. With her plan exposed, Wan Xiang immediately attacked Cha Wu, engaging in a fierce battle. Wan Mei tried to intervene, urging them to wait until the epiphyllum bloomed, but they disregarded her.

Wan Xiang used her signature incense, only to discover Cha Wu had long lost her sense of smell and the ability to use incense. Wan Xiang blamed Wan Mei for providing misleading information, while Wan Mei retorted that Wan Xiang should have used her own unique incense and listened to her advice from the start. Wan Xiang was ultimately defeated and fell to the ground.

As the white epiphyllum finally blossomed, Cha Wu calmly began to admire it with Wan Mei. However, Wan Xiang, still on the ground, placed a Bull's Head Sandalwood, given to her by her mother years ago, into an incense burner. She gritted her teeth, demanding another fight, and used the sandalwood's fumes to injure Cha Wu. Upon seeing the familiar Bull's Head Sandalwood, Cha Wu was stunned, realizing that the assailant, Wan Xiang, was her own daughter, Zheng Er.

Stunned, Cha Wu tearfully confessed she was Wan Xiang’s mother, calling her by her birth name, Zheng Er. Wan Xiang was shocked and conflicted by the revelation. Cha Wu then explained that she had been recalled to Gui Hua City the day Wan Xiang turned one, forcing her to leave her family behind. Witnessing the tragic reunion, Wan Mei urged them to flee while Chang An distracted the other shadows.

Knowing she couldn't escape far with an injured Wan Xiang, Cha Wu made the heartbreaking decision to sacrifice herself to ensure her daughter’s mission was completed. She willingly used Wan Xiang's Red Demon Umbrella to take her own life, urging Wan Xiang with her dying breath to find a way to leave Gui Hua City forever. Devastated by the loss of her mother, Wan Xiang fainted. When she regained consciousness, Wan Mei was by her bedside.

Wan Xiang hoarsely asked if Wan Mei had known the truth all along. Wan Mei confirmed that the entire scenario, designed for the mother and daughter to kill each other, was a setup by the Lady of Gui Hua City, Cha Luo. She explained that she had tried her best to subtly hint at the danger, but the pervasive spies of Gui Hua City made direct warnings impossible.

Wan Xiang was filled with bitter irony and hatred: the Lady she had always sought to please had orchestrated her mother's death, while Wan Mei, whom she had always seen as a rival, had genuinely tried to help her. Consumed by her desire for revenge against Cha Luo, Wan Xiang proposed an alliance with Wan Mei, but Wan Mei declined the offer.

Meanwhile, Yue Ying reported to Gong Zi that Han Xiu's salt business was now being handled by Fang Ge, the Master of Martial Arts, who had arrived at King Ning's Residence demanding answers about Han Xiu's death. Gong Zi, maintaining a composed demeanor, calmly denied any direct involvement in Han Xiu's murder.

He stated that Gui Hua City operates on strict rules, especially regarding employer confidentiality, and therefore he could not reveal the identity of the person who commissioned the assassination. Fang Ge, reminding Gong Zi of a past favor, insisted that Gui Hua City turn over the killer. Gong Zi, still unwilling to reveal Wan Mei, claimed he only knew the order came from Cha Luo and that the killer was a junior assassin whose specific name he did not know.

He requested one month to investigate and personally deliver the killer to Fang Ge, a proposition Fang Ge reluctantly accepted. Back in Gui Hua City, Cha Luo was informed of Cha Wu's defeat. Delighted, she proceeded with the rewards, promoting Wan Xiang to Supreme Killer and allowing Wan Mei to remain a Junior Killer for her effective supervision of the battle.

Cha Luo then offered to divide the twenty Kylin Worms taken from Cha Wu's body between Wan Xiang and Wan Mei. Wan Mei respectfully declined her share of the worms, asserting that she merely supervised and did not deserve such credit. She emphasized that Kylin Worms were exclusive to the Supreme Killer and should rightfully belong solely to Wan Xiang. Wan Mei further declared that she had come to understand the city's philosophy of strength and pledged her unwavering loyalty to Cha Luo, a declaration that greatly pleased the Lady.
