Li Yunkai and Zhang Guoguo are dealing with a dog lawsuit. Li Yunkai directs Zhang Guoguo to take photos of the plaintiff's dog, leading to their usual bickering. Zhang Guoguo complains about Li Yunkai's bossy nature, but he insists his "spy work" is necessary for obtaining evidence.
During the formal resolution, Li Yunkai, representing Zhang Guoguo, refuses to pay any compensation, presenting evidence that the dog's diarrhea was caused by its owner, Mr. Yang, feeding it chocolate, not by Zhang Guoguo. Mr. Yang, surprised by this revelation, apologizes and agrees to revoke the lawsuit. As they conclude, the dog pees on Li Yunkai's pants, causing further playful conflict between him and Zhang Guoguo, who refuses to clean them.
Later, Xu Xiaoqin, an admirer of Li Yunkai, calls him to offer her sympathies about his pants and suggests hiring a housekeeper. She then secretly arranges for Zhang Guoguo, who owes her money, to be Li Yunkai's housekeeper, instructing Zhang Guoguo to keep her identity a secret. Zhang Guoguo, while cleaning Li Yunkai's apartment, discovers what she perceives as unusual items and habits, leading her to believe he is a "pervert."
She leaves a meal for him, but Li Yunkai, believing it was from "Miss Xiao Qin," calls to thank her, mentioning his dislike for egg dumplings. Zhang Guoguo overhears his comment, disappointed that her hard work might go to waste. While cleaning, Zhang Guoguo discovers the finalized list of participants for the Lisa Wu Cheongsam Competition and excitedly realizes she has been chosen as finalist number 273.
She rushes to tell Song Xiuhua, who congratulates her and expresses her faith in Zhang Guoguo's talent. Zhang Guoguo shares her apprehension about her mother's disapproval, mentioning her mother previously burned her embroideries. Song Xiuhua reassures her, promising to provide all necessary materials and support her embroidery dreams. Song Xiuhua later gives Zhang Guoguo a blanket she embroidered for her own daughter, Yi Bei, expressing her desire for Zhang Guoguo to sleep comfortably.
As Zhang Guoguo talks about her cleaning job for a "jerk lawyer," Song Xiuhua realizes she is talking about Li Yunkai and wonders if he could be her nephew. Meanwhile, Zhang Yuxin hides her pregnancy. She is seen washing clothes and appears unwell. Xu Huijie notices Zhang Yuxin's weakness and recalls Lu Sichen's earlier warning about Zhang Yuxin needing immediate medical attention. Xu Huijie presses Zhang Yuxin about her health, eventually taking her to a clinic.
During the examination, the doctor suspects pregnancy, which Zhang Yuxin vehemently denies to Xu Huijie. However, when alone with the doctor, Zhang Yuxin tearfully confesses her pregnancy and begs the doctor to keep it a secret from Xu Huijie, fearing severe repercussions from her mother. The doctor warns Zhang Yuxin about the risk of premature birth but reluctantly agrees to let her leave, provided she returns for follow-up check-ups.
Li Yunkai discovers that Zhang Guoguo left her shoe at his house and goes to the wonton shop, attempting to make various women try it on, believing it belongs to a "crazy fan." He confronts Zhang Guoguo, forcing her to admit the shoe is hers. Zhang Guoguo then tries to turn the tables, accusing him of stealing it while drunk.
Li Yunkai retorts that he was only drunk once and slept at Xu Xiaoqin's house that night, which surprises Zhang Guoguo and the bystanders. During the Lisa Wu Cheongsam Competition, after the dresses were presented, a frustrated Zhang Yuxin physically attacks Zhang Guoguo in the lounge, mockingly bringing up her adopted status. Zhang Guoguo, initially brushing it off, eventually threatens Zhang Yuxin, stating she will reveal Zhang Yuxin is not an orphan if she continues to harass her.
Zhang Yuxin, fearing exposure, falls silent. Xu Huijie is displeased by Zhang Guoguo's unexpected strong performance and blames Zhang Yuxin. To secure victory, Zhang Yuxin had approached Li Yunzhe, who assured her he had convinced Lisa Wu to make a decision after trying on the dresses, which somewhat eased Zhang Yuxin's mind. However, Zhang Guoguo is disheartened when Lisa Wu chooses Zhang Yuxin's dress after trying both on.
Unbeknownst to Zhang Guoguo and Li Yunkai, Zhang Yuxin had secretly threatened Lisa Wu with her pregnancy to manipulate her decision. Li Yunkai, unable to bear Zhang Guoguo's sadness, privately confronts Lisa Wu, who, in her difficult situation, evasively dismisses him. A staff member then brings Zhang Guoguo's "Black Swan" dress to Lisa Wu, but Li Yunkai, sensing Lisa Wu's guilt, takes the dress away.
A genuinely fond Lisa Wu tries to stop him but suddenly collapses due to a severe allergic reaction. Xu Huijie is initially jubilant about the victory, but her joy turns to alarm when she learns of Lisa Wu's critical condition. Upon seeing Zhang Yuxin's changed demeanor, she interrogates her and discovers that Zhang Yuxin had added pine resin to the dress to please Lisa Wu, unaware of Lisa Wu's allergy to pine nuts.
Fearing implication, Xu Huijie coldly tells Zhang Yuxin that this matter has no connection to Golden Thread Embroidery and that Zhang Yuxin must resolve it herself. Zhang Yuxin, resentful of Xu Huijie's attitude but knowing it's not the time for confrontation, agrees to handle the situation. Zhang Yuxin's solution is to frame Zhang Guoguo. She tells Zhang Guoguo that Lisa Wu was hospitalized due to an allergy to poultry and manipulates Zhang Guoguo into believing she is responsible.
Zhang Guoguo, horrified, expresses her fear. Zhang Yuxin feigns concern, offering to "solve" the problem but insists that Zhang Guoguo immediately return to Xiping and avoid contact with Lisa Wu or anyone else in Zhenhu. Zhang Guoguo, touched by what she perceives as Zhang Yuxin's protective gesture, agrees. Satisfied, Zhang Yuxin calls Li Yunzhe, reassuring him that the situation is resolved and urging him to keep the media from discovering the truth, lest Zhang Guoguo find out.
Meanwhile, Li Yunkai's father learns of the Lisa Wu incident and wants to handle it seriously, but Li Yunzhe persuades him to downplay it. Li Yunkai, impatient to leave and find Zhang Guoguo, who is waiting for him, argues with his father. Despite his father confiscating his car keys and wallet, Li Yunkai stubbornly leaves, even abandoning his clothes and pants, determined to find Zhang Guoguo.
He eventually finds her, and with only enough money for bus tickets, they take a shabby long-distance bus back to Xiping, without even enough for dinner. Zhang Yuxin's good mood is interrupted by a call from her mother, who informs her that a young man with a childhood photo of Zhang Yuxin (Lu Sichen) came to the wonton shop. Zhang mother, to protect Zhang Yuxin's secret about not being an orphan, had driven him away.
Recognizing Lu Sichen from the description, Zhang Yuxin warns her mother not to engage with him again. Meanwhile, Jin Zhiming is shocked to learn from a police officer about Yi Bei's missing person report being filed in Jiangling fifteen years ago by someone from "Golden Thread Embroidery." This contradicts Xu Huijie's account of Yi Bei disappearing in Zhenhu. Recalling the accident that day, Jin Zhiming suspects Song Xiuhua. Xu Huijie, overhearing this, is terrified.
She confides in Ding Wei about Jin Zhiming's renewed search for Song Xiuhua. Unbeknownst to them, Zhang Yuxin, who had been subtly tracking Xu Huijie due to her recent change in demeanor, overhears their conversation and learns about the past incident. Xu Huijie strongly insists on accompanying Jin Zhiming to find Song Xiuhua, hoping to control the narrative. As they near Zhang Guoguo's wonton shop, Song Xiuhua, who is visiting Zhang Guoguo, spots them.
She quickly tells Zhang Guoguo not to reveal her whereabouts and hurries away. When Jin Zhiming and Xu Huijie finally reach Zhang Guoguo, Jin Zhiming shows her a photo of Song Xiuhua, but Zhang Guoguo denies knowing her. Xu Huijie, relieved, urges Jin Zhiming to leave. Despite his disappointment, Jin Zhiming leaves with Xu Huijie but later contacts Li Yunkai's father to ask for Song Xiuhua's address. Remembering Song Xiuhua's previous plea, Li Yunkai's father tactfully refuses.
In the car, Jin Zhiming reflects on the information, gradually accepting Xu Huijie's narrative that Song Xiuhua must have been too ashamed to appear after losing Yi Bei, and surprisingly, their relationship seems to mend. At the wonton shop, Li Yunkai, now back in Xiping, is having dinner with Zhang Guoguo. He is startled to hear Song Xiuhua's name and presses Zhang Guoguo for details, but she refuses to disclose anything.
Zhang Guoguo, apprehensive about facing her mother after going to Zhenhu against her wishes, braces herself for a reprimand. Her mother scolds her for running away but softens upon seeing her injured foot. Zhang Guoguo then confronts her mother about her apparent favoritism towards Zhang Yuxin and questions her own adoption. Her mother briefly falters but quickly denies Zhang Guoguo's suspicions, reiterating her love and explaining her preference for Zhang Yuxin as compensatory care for her sister's early independence.
In a high-end restaurant, Li Yunzhe waits for Zhang Yuxin. He buys her flowers, even though he knows they weren't ordered by him, in an effort to please her. Their conversation confirms their alliance: he aims for total control of the Li family's assets, and she seeks to replace Jin Yi Bei as the Jin family's legitimate daughter, even intending to eliminate Song Xiuhua as an obstacle. As Zhang Yuxin leaves the restaurant, feeling triumphant, she is abruptly pulled aside by Lu Sichen.
