Bai Luoyin, plagued by recent misfortunes, sought solace at a night market stall, ordering five beers and an abundance of grilled skewers. Gu Hai soon arrived, joining him and urging him to slow his drinking, warning it would harm his stomach. Bai Luoyin, defiant, told him to leave, but Gu Hai insisted on drinking with him. As the drinks flowed, Bai Luoyin became more talkative, confiding in Gu Hai about his family troubles.
He defended his mother, explaining that although she never raised him and was materialistic, she had never engaged in illicit activities. He then revealed his frustration with his ex-girlfriend, Shi Hui, whose constant contact was causing him distress. Gu Hai, seemingly empathetic, shared that his own mother had passed away, but also hinted at his motives by remarking that Bai Luoyin's breakup was a good thing, as it created an opportunity for himself.
Gu Hai then playfully asserted that his constant teasing was a special way of showing he cared. As the night wore on, Bai Luoyin became completely intoxicated. He insisted he wasn't drunk, attempting to walk in a straight line and humorously accusing Gu Hai of plotting to cut his clothes again. When Bai Luoyin became unruly, Gu Hai threatened to throw him in a ditch, but ultimately carried him on his back all the way to his house.
At the doorstep, Gu Hai bid farewell to Bai Luoyin's father, who praised Gu Hai for being such a good and caring boy before helping his son inside. After dropping Bai Luoyin off, Gu Hai returned to his own home, where his father and an aide were waiting. His father, having already packed Gu Hai's bags, confronted him and ordered him to return to his old school, where he would be joined by Jiang Yuan's child, his new step-sibling.
Gu Hai adamantly refused, declaring he would rather die than return to a home with his step-family. When his father threatened to cut off his living expenses, Gu Hai defiantly accepted the challenge, vowing he would not come crawling back within a month. The next morning, Bai Luoyin greeted Yang Meng on their way to school. At a breakfast stall, Bai Luoyin inquired with the owner about how to remove bloodstains from clothes, referencing the uniform from his recent fight.
Shortly after, Gu Hai arrived on his bicycle and offered Bai Luoyin a ride. Bai Luoyin initially scoffed at the "broken-down" bike, but Gu Hai's playful taunts convinced him to get on. As they rode, Gu Hai vividly recounted Bai Luoyin's drunken antics from the previous night, including clinging to him, calling out "Hui," and trying to take off his pants. Bai Luoyin, initially skeptical, eventually recalled that Gu Hai had carried him home, realizing this was the second time.
Later at the breakfast stall, the two ate together, with Gu Hai remarking how long it had been since he'd had such an authentic meal. The conversation eventually turned to the blood-stained uniform. Bai Luoyin correctly guessed that Gu Hai had washed it for him, despite Gu Hai's playful denial. As the weekend approached, Gu Hai received a call from his friends, Li Shuo and Huzi, who invited him to a car race.
Distancing himself from his old circle, Gu Hai instructed them not to contact him unless it was an emergency and only with his prior approval, revealing his shift in priorities. Afterwards, Bai Luoyin teased Gu Hai about his "second-hand" bicycle, and Gu Hai joked that if he'd known bike theft was so common in the area, he would have stolen one instead of buying it. For the weekend, Bai Luoyin invited Gu Hai to go fishing.
Gu Hai initially feigned disinterest, claiming he was busy, but quickly agreed, humorously blaming his initial refusal on the wind. At the fishing spot, Gu Hai's restlessness disrupted Bai Luoyin's peaceful fishing, scattering the fish. Bai Luoyin chastised Gu Hai for his constantly annoying behavior. Just as Bai Luoyin hooked a large fish, Gu Hai rushed over, causing the fish to escape. Without hesitation, Gu Hai plunged into the cold water and, to Bai Luoyin's surprise, successfully retrieved the fish by hand.
