A Girl Like Me Episode 35 Recap
> A Girl Like Me Recap
To get the grain password, Ban Heng is forced to accompany Miss Sun and engages her in a drinking game. After getting her drunk, she blurts out a phrase of love, which she reveals is the password to the grain store. Ban Heng shouts it aloud, and Du Jiu, positioned on a nearby rooftop, relays it to Ban Hua and Rong Xia, who successfully retrieve the much-needed grain.
As Ban Hua and Rong Xia secure the supplies, they realize they have forgotten Ban Heng. Meanwhile, Miss Sun grows increasingly forward with him. Just as Ban Heng fears for his safety, Xie Wanyu kicks down the door to rescue him, calling him her husband in the heat of the moment.
After they escape, Ban Heng, delighted by the endearment, playfully asks her to say it again while calling her his wife, causing a flustered Xie Wanyu to cover her ears and run away. Later, Ban Heng complains to his sister about the ordeal, but she dismisses his dramatics. Knowing her brother's heart, Ban Hua probes Xie Wanyu about her feelings. Xie Wanyu admits that despite Ban Heng's greedy and flamboyant exterior, she finds him to be kind-hearted and trustworthy.
Afterward, Rong Xia playfully asks Ban Hua if she would have forgotten him too if he had been the one to go. Ban Hua reassures him with a smile, affirming that he is the only one who can touch her and will always be her beloved. Relief spreads through the camp as grain from the capital finally arrives. Ban Hua and Rong Xia oversee its distribution, but Rong Xia senses something is wrong.
His fears are confirmed when refugees who ate the porridge begin to show signs of poisoning. Enraged that Jiang Luo would poison innocent people to eliminate them, Ban Hua vows to march back to the capital and make him pay. The soldiers, furious at the emperor's cruelty, pledge their loyalty to her cause. Upon learning of Ban Hua's plan, a furious Jiang Luo orders the northwest garrison to intercept and kill her and Rong Xia.
Shi Feixian reminds him that the rebellion's stated goal is to restore the Crown Prince, who is currently in the capital. Jiang Luo sends Xie Chongjin to capture him, but they only find a dummy. Shi Jin had already escorted the Crown Prince and Crown Princess out of the palace through a secret door. He chose to stay behind, however, still hoping to convince his sister, Shi Feixian, to abandon Jiang Luo.
Xie Chongjin returns to his family mansion and finds his father, Count Xie, hosting Ban Hua's parents. Seeing Xie Chongjin, Ban Huai explodes with anger, mistakenly believing Count Xie betrayed them. To the Count's horror, Xie Chongjin then orders his men to arrest the couple. When his father protests, Xie Chongjin fiercely retorts that this action is necessary to save the Xie family from being executed for treason.
He blames his father's loyalties for their current danger, leaving the old count devastated. Ban Hua and Rong Xia's forces easily take the city of Jinzhou, where they are welcomed by the populace. Soon after, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess arrive, thanking them for the rescue. When Ban Hua learns Shi Jin stayed behind in the palace, she calls him a fool, knowing Jiang Luo would not spare him. In the palace, Jiang Luo indeed orders Shi Jin's execution.
However, Shi Feixian pleads for her brother's life, arguing not with sentiment, but with strategy. She points out that Shi Jin is a military genius and proposes a devious plan: use Ban Hua's captured parents as leverage to force her to switch sides. An alliance between Ban Hua and Shi Jin, she claims, would crush Rong Xia's rebellion. Intrigued, Jiang Luo agrees to spare Shi Jin. As Ban Hua's army marches on, Jiang Luo sends her a letter.
It reveals that her parents are his prisoners and gives her three days to return to the capital alone, or they will be killed. Ignoring Rong Xia's warnings of a trap, Ban Hua resolves to go. Rong Xia places her under guard, but Ban Heng drugs the guards and offers his sister an escape route. Unwilling to endanger him, Ban Hua knocks her brother unconscious.
Rong Xia intercepts her as she tries to leave, begging her not to go on a suicide mission. Ban Hua insists her parents' lives are her priority and entrusts the fate of the rebellion to him, reminding him that he already lost the throne for her once and must not do so again. Rong Xia declares he has never regretted any choice he made for her.
Torn but resolute, Ban Hua vows to repay her debt to him in the next life and departs. Rong Xia immediately orders Du Jiu to mobilize all their agents in the capital to support her. Zhang Meng and other loyal soldiers insist on accompanying her. Ban Hua details her plan: she will enter the palace to confront Jiang Luo, buying them half an hour to rescue her parents.
Ban Hua enters the palace and faces Jiang Luo, who offers her tea. She coolly dissects the poor quality of two different offerings, subtly mocking him. As Shi Feixian joins them, Jiang Luo reveals his true aim is to capture Ban Hua. As she retorts, she suddenly feels weak and collapses, realizing too late that the incense burning in the room was poisoned.
