Xu Lai went to see Huo Yanzong and felt guilty when she saw that he was injured while trying to save her. Huo Yanzong learned that she hadn't reconciled with Jin Shichuan yet, but she already knew the reason why Jin Shichuan wanted to break up with her. Xu Lai took Jin Shichuan back to the kindergarten, and the piano was still there. Xu Lai wanted to evoke Jin Shichuan's feelings for her through childhood memories. Jin Shichuan initially planned to wait until his leg was better to face their relationship, but he couldn't resist Xu Lai, so they reconciled. That night, Xu Lai slept peacefully. Huo Yanzong received a call from Xu Lai's mother and passed on the message for Xu Lai to come home. Zang Qiu came to check on the patients but decided not to disturb them. Lu Fangqi came to deliver wounded soldiers and took the opportunity to see Jin Shichuan, but more importantly, he wanted to meet Zang Qiu.

Lu Fangqi saw a photo on Zang Qiu's desk, a picture of Zang Qiu and the late Fang Huai. Zang Qiu was holding daisies in her hand and smiling happily. Lu Fangqi was severely allergic to pollen, so Zang Qiu immediately performed artificial respiration and gave him emergency treatment. When Lu Fangqi regained consciousness, he didn't show any signs of fear from just having come back from the brink of death; he was immersed in the excitement of Zang Qiu performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Zang Qiu called Xu Lai and Jin Shichuan to her office to congratulate Jin Shichuan on his recovery and reminded him to come back for regular check-ups. Xu Lai hugged Jin Shichuan excitedly. Jin Shichuan privately talked to Zang Qiu about Fang Huai's past and hoped that Zang Qiu could move on from the pain. Jin Shichuan returned to the station and took a day off with the political commissar to go on a date with Xu Lai. Jin Shichuan messaged Xu Lai after returning to the station, addressing her as his leader, and ended with a sweet pouting kiss, much to the delight of the onlookers at the entrance. Jin Shichuan announced that he and Xu Lai were in a romantic relationship, and they now referred to Xu Lai as "sister-in-law."
