Director Wei briefly inquired about the situation and then asked Mi Ka what to do. Mi Ka made an incorrect judgment and was scolded by Director Wei, which left her a bit discouraged. After the patient’s condition stabilized, Chen Tao gave Mi Ka a tour of the emergency department and introduced her to Senior Zhou Zhe, Nurse Feng Manman, and Chen Xiaoyan.
During her break, Mi Ka wanted to tell Xing Kelei that she had been reassigned to the emergency department, but she hesitated and didn’t send the message. Although Shao Yuhan didn’t keep Mi Ka in neurosurgery, he still cared about her. He even arranged to meet with Director Wei to ask about her performance and hoped she could grow and gain experience in the emergency department.
At the next morning meeting in the emergency department, Director Wei specifically mentioned Mi Ka and told her to follow Zhou Zhe for the time being. Mi Ka said she would do her best to learn. Although Xing Kelei hadn’t visited the hospital in the past few days, he had been thoughtfully sending breakfast to the neurosurgery department. He originally intended the breakfast for Mi Ka but didn’t know she had been transferred.
The neurosurgery colleagues thought Mi Ka had been treating them. When Xing Kelei finally visited Xiao Chao and found out, he felt it was unfair to Mi Ka and went to explain things to Shao Yuhan. When Mi Ka heard about this, she hurried to Shao Yuhan’s office and stopped Xing Kelei from speaking on her behalf. She told Shao Yuhan that she would do her best in the emergency department.
Seeing that Mi Ka was upset, Xing Kelei chased after her. Mi Ka told him he was no longer her instructor and that he didn’t need to concern himself with her anymore. She also said that nothing good ever happened when the two of them got involved. Even though Mi Ka told Xing Kelei they should keep their distance, she still felt upset. That night, she didn’t take a taxi home but chose to ride a bike instead.
Xing Kelei didn’t leave either; he waited outside the hospital until Mi Ka got off work and pretended to bump into her so he could offer her a ride home. Mi Ka got in the car, and after a few words, she fell asleep in the passenger seat from exhaustion. When they arrived at her apartment, Xing Kelei didn’t wake her.
He waited until she woke up on her own, said goodbye, and only left after watching her go inside and turn on the lights. Mi Ka went to neurosurgery to collect a report and get Yanshan’s signature. That’s when she realized everyone thought she had been treating them to breakfast. She stopped the delivery person and asked him to call the person who ordered the food. That’s when she learned that Xing Kelei had been the one ordering breakfast.
Xing Kelei explained it was a thank-you from the police team for their care of Xiao Chao. When he learned that Mi Ka hadn’t had any of the breakfast he sent, he was visibly disappointed. Trying to please Shao Yuhan, Yanshan brought him a lunchbox and asked him to look at her paper. However, the cases in the paper were ones Yanshan had never actually encountered.
Shao Yuhan criticized her for being unrealistic and did not accept the lunchbox, leaving Yanshan quite upset. The emergency department suddenly received an elderly Alzheimer’s patient who was vomiting. After a brief diagnosis, Mi Ka suspected a brain injury and called Director Wei. Director Wei immediately ordered tests and informed neurosurgery for a consultation. Thanks to Mi Ka’s careful observation, the correct diagnosis was made. After the patient recovered, their family brought fruit to thank Mi Ka.
Director Wei even praised her, which was rare, and chatted with her after work. He asked if she had considered why Shao Yuhan had transferred her to the emergency department and said working there was like going to war. He also asked how long she thought she could last in emergency.
