For Zhang Yajun’s surgery, Mi Ka carefully studied videos of surgeries for intracranial abscesses. She noticed there were new wounds on Xing Kelei’s hand and grew worried. She told Xing Kelei that he bore a lot of responsibility and reminded him not to get injured so easily anymore. She didn’t realize these words only added more pressure to Xing Kelei’s heart, making him even more reluctant to tell Mi Ka about his illness.

After leaving, Xing Kelei called Captain Hao, saying something was wrong with his body and that he might not be able to participate in the competition. He arranged to talk about it tomorrow afternoon. Zhang Yajun’s surgery started soon after. Before it began, Xing Kelei sent Mi Ka a message saying he had something to tell her at noon. Mi Ka replied that she had a surgery in the morning and wouldn’t be free until around two.

Mi Ka was the lead surgeon for Zhang Yajun’s operation, with Dr. Wang supervising. Meanwhile, the emergency department admitted a patient with severe brain hemorrhage from a car accident, and Dr. Wang had to rush over, instructing Jia Li to continue observing Mi Ka’s procedure and to report any issues immediately. Not long after Dr. Wang left, a complication arose during the operation. Fortunately, Mi Ka remained calm under pressure, stabilized the condition in time, and successfully completed the surgery.

Mi Ka went to find Xing Kelei right after the surgery. Xing Kelei confessed his illness to her. Mi Ka was momentarily unable to accept it and asked why he had waited until now to tell her. As his girlfriend, she wanted to share the burden and see the most authentic side of him. No matter how he was, she could accept it and was willing to stay by his side.

Xing Kelei hurried to reassure her, saying it wasn’t a serious illness. Mi Ka knew it wasn’t life-threatening, but the fact that Xing Kelei was sick made her anxious. Mi Ka accompanied Xing Kelei to see a specialist, who still recommended a craniotomy. Xing Kelei made up his mind to undergo the surgery next week.

After seeing the doctor, Xing Kelei went to talk to Captain Hao and told him he planned to transfer to logistics and could not participate in the competition anymore. However, Captain Hao didn’t agree right away. Instead, he arranged for Zhuo Wenjing to take over Xing Kelei’s spot in the shooting training. As for whether Xing Kelei could still participate in the competition, it would depend on his recovery after the surgery.

When the team members found out about Xing Kelei’s condition, they all wanted to accompany him during training. But Xing Kelei told them to rest, and they had no choice but to leave him alone to reflect. Xing Keyao, who was still attending a seminar in Hainan, hadn’t heard about Xing Kelei’s condition. That day, she was having breakfast with Yi Qian and Shao Yuhan.

When Shao Yuhan stepped away, Yi Qian asked Xing Keyao how she managed to win over Shao Yuhan. Xing Keyao found it funny and asked why it was assumed that she was the one pursuing him. Yi Qian said the whole school used to say that Xing Keyao chased Shao Yuhan all the way to the elevator. Xing Keyao recalled the past, explaining that she ran after him to the elevator back then to correct a surgical record.

Yi Qian originally planned to hang out with them both, but then Mi Ka called Xing Keyao to inform her about Xing Kelei’s illness. Xing Keyao immediately booked the next flight back to Jiangning. Once home, she scolded Xing Kelei angrily. Xing Kelei quickly tried to reassure her that it wasn’t a serious illness, but she was still furious that he hadn’t told her anything. Xu Yanshan also found out about Xing Kelei’s illness.

She sought out Mi Ka to comfort her and thanked her for what she did for her mother during the surgery. Xu Yanshan finally admitted her past mistakes and sincerely apologized to Mi Ka, who accepted her apology. That evening, Xing Kelei came to pick Mi Ka up from work. At home, Xing Keyao even cooked dinner, and they chatted as they ate.

Mi Ka suggested that Xing Kelei take two days off, and she would take leave as well to spend some time relaxing and shopping with him. Their special treatment of him made Xing Kelei a little nervous, and he urged them to just live normally and not do anything out of the ordinary for him. Though Xing Kelei appeared calm, Mi Ka felt he was forcing himself to be strong.

She was upset because she didn’t know what she could do for him. She was also worried that he might not be able to return to frontline duty after the craniotomy. She shared her concerns with Shao Yuhan, who said that although minimally invasive surgery was difficult, he believed he could try. After work, Mi Ka rushed to tell Xing Kelei the good news, explaining the pros and cons of minimally invasive versus open surgery, and let him decide.
