Well-Intended Love S2 Episode 14 Recap
> Well-Intended Love S2 Recap
In an elegant private dining room, Chu Yan's father eagerly anticipated the arrival of their mysterious dinner guests, playfully chiding Chu Yan for keeping secrets and expressing that he would have been overjoyed to know. The door then opened, revealing Ruan Meng and her mother. Chu Yan froze in surprise. Ruan Meng, looking shy, greeted Chu Yan's father, who praised her beauty and politeness, commending her mother's good upbringing. Chu Yan almost choked on his drink.
Ruan Meng's mother then shared how much she and Ruan Meng's father liked Chu Yan, expressing happiness that the two young people were in love and suggesting it was good for the families to meet. Chu Yan tried to clarify their relationship, but Ruan Meng's mother assumed her shyness was due to being in love. Both Chu Yan and Ruan Meng momentarily exclaimed "Dad!"
in confusion, before Ruan Meng quickly corrected herself to "Uncle" and clarified to her mother and Chu Yan's father that she and Chu Yan were not what they imagined. Ruan Meng's mother then revealed she found out by "surfing on the internet," leading Ruan Meng to realize her social media photos had caused the misunderstanding.
Ruan Meng then pulled Chu Yan outside to the riverside, apologizing that she hadn't known her mother was bringing her to meet him, or that her mother had taken him for her boyfriend due to their "photo event" on Weibo. Chu Yan remarked that he hadn't expected that incident to have further consequences. Ruan Meng, feeling apologetic for disturbing his life, asked if he was angry.
Chu Yan replied he was not, just found it a little funny, adding that they had nothing to hide and only needed to clarify things with their parents. Ruan Meng then bravely asked, "What if I have?" stunning Chu Yan. Mustering her courage, she confessed, "Chu Yan, I like you." Chu Yan initially tried to rationalize her feelings, suggesting she might just find their first meeting special and would feel the same way about anyone else.
But Ruan Meng quickly interjected, "No. You are different." She then boldly leaned in, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed him on the lips before running off, blushing. Chu Yan, regaining his composure, couldn't help but smile. Meanwhile, Ling Yizhou, who had been supporting his wife Mumu (Xia Lin)'s career and even discussing bodyguard presence, received a report from Wen Li that Fu Weining had purchased several plane tickets abroad with different departure times.
Wen Li suspected it to be a deceptive tactic and suggested someone keep an eye on the airport, to which Ling Yizhou agreed. Separately, Ling Yizhou surprised Mumu at her hotel for their first Double Seventh Festival since getting married, creating a romantic setup. Mumu was deeply touched, though she playfully admitted preferring spicy hot pot over the wine and steak. Ling Yizhou expressed his wish to spend every future Double Seventh Festival with her.
Mumu promised they would hold their wedding after she finished filming her current movie. As they parted ways in the parking lot, with Mumu heading into the elevator, Ling Yizhou received a video on his phone showing their recent farewell. Surprised, he looked around before getting a call from Fu Weining, who proposed a meeting.
Ling Yizhou agreed, but immediately called Mumu, instructing her not to be alone in her room and to stay with her agent, Yuyuan, explaining that Fu Weining had asked to meet him. When Mumu questioned if he was going alone, Ling Yizhou confidently stated that Fu Weining wouldn't dare do anything in broad daylight. He then drove off towards the meeting point.
Concerned, Mumu immediately contacted Wen Li, Ling Yizhou's assistant, informing him that Ling Yizhou was meeting Fu Weining and that she couldn't reach him. Wen Li quickly investigated, discovering Fu Weining owned two properties and an ice house. They decided to split up to cover all locations. Ling Yizhou entered the cold, vast ice house, only for Fu Weining to remotely seal the large door behind him. Shortly after, Mumu arrived at the ice house.
Fu Weining, watching through surveillance cameras, cynically remarked, "Buy one and get one free," before opening the door to let her in. Inside, Mumu found Ling Yizhou shivering and struggling from the extreme cold. She desperately tried to wake him. Ling Yizhou, seeing Mumu, immediately took off his jacket and put it over her, despite his own freezing state. Mumu, seeing the surveillance camera, lashed out at Fu Weining, calling him a "coward" and daring him to face them directly.
Fu Weining responded by steadily lowering the temperature, causing both Mumu and Ling Yizhou to shiver uncontrollably. Ling Yizhou urged Mumu to stay awake. Mumu, eyes beginning to close, promised they would get married as soon as they got out and even have a baby. Seeing her fading, Ling Yizhou struggled to his feet and faced the camera, challenging Fu Weining to come out. He offered to play the game on his own if Fu Weining would release Mumu.
Fu Weining demanded that Ling Yizhou kneel down to show sincerity. Mumu, despite her weakening state, defiantly declared that she would not allow her man to kneel before anyone. Nevertheless, Ling Yizhou knelt. Fu Weining, still unsatisfied, entered the ice house and mockingly demanded Ling Yizhou crawl to him. He then heartlessly tore the jacket off Mumu, taunting Ling Yizhou about his loss of dignity despite his privileged background.
Fu Weining then angrily recounted his past grievances, accusing Ling Yizhou of reporting him and causing his expulsion from teaching and indirectly, his mother's death. Ling Yizhou vehemently denied the accusations, stating that Fu Weining was fired for cheating. Enraged, Fu Weining attempted to drag Mumu away. Ling Yizhou struggled to intervene but was struck down by Fu Weining. Mumu, mustering what little strength she had left, pushed Fu Weining, sending him crashing into a towering stack of boxes.
The boxes toppled, collapsing onto both Mumu and Fu Weining, trapping them underneath. Wen Li and Chu Yan arrived moments later, quickly helping Ling Yizhou clear the debris and rescue Mumu, who was rushed to the hospital. In the hospital room, Ling Yizhou gently held Mumu's hand, pleading with her to wake up, reminding her that he still owed her the dream wedding she always wanted.
Soon, Mumu's eyes fluttered open, but she looked at him with confusion, asking who he was and stating, "Who is Mumu? My name is Xia Lin." A distressed Ling Yizhou immediately sought out the doctor, who explained that a severe impact had caused a hematencephalon, with a small blood clot pressing on memory nerves, resulting in amnesia. While fortunate the clot was small and caused no major physical harm, her memory loss was significant.
The doctor presented two options: a risky surgical procedure for quick recovery, or a slower, conservative medication-based approach that could take months or even years. Ling Yizhou opted for the conservative medication due to the surgical risks. Later, Fei and Chu Yan came to visit. Xia Lin recognized them but discovered her memory was stuck two years in the past.
She was shocked to learn she was no longer a "nobody artist" but a "main second-line artist" and had even retired from entertainment. Her greatest shock came when Fei revealed she was married to Ling Yizhou. Ling Yizhou presented their marriage certificate as proof. Xia Lin, bewildered, wondered if she had "slept for two years." Ling Yizhou reassured her, promising to take good care of her and help her remember everything.
Xia Lin, however, struggled to accept the reality of their marriage, openly questioning it even to Chu Yan. Chu Yan, in turn, tried to comfort Ling Yizhou, informing him that Fu Weining had been arrested on suspicion of murder. Separately, Chu Yan found himself in an elevator with Ruan Meng. Suddenly, the elevator malfunctioned and became stuck. Ruan Meng's face paled with fear. Chu Yan calmly reassured her and pressed the emergency button to contact maintenance.
Unexpectedly, Chu Yan suffered an asthma attack, struggling for breath. Ruan Meng, without hesitation, quickly retrieved medicine from her bag and helped him use it. Once Chu Yan felt better, he asked if anyone in her family had asthma. Ruan Meng explained that no one did; she carried the medicine specifically because he had asthma, anticipating he might need it. Curious, Chu Yan then asked why she had previously described him as "special."
Ruan Meng revealed that as a child, she had been abducted, which led to her developing "androphobia," a fear of men. She confessed to being scared of being alone with men and sometimes experiencing allergic reactions upon physical contact. However, that day in the coffee shop, she found that she had no such reaction to him, which made her genuinely happy. Chu Yan then understood why she had always worn gloves before.
She explained she was at the hospital for her regular psychotherapy sessions and was feeling much better now. She then apologized for her "impolite" behavior that night when she kissed him, despite her true feelings. Just as Chu Yan leaned in, perhaps to kiss her, the elevator doors suddenly opened. He stepped out and extended his hand. Ruan Meng happily took it, and they ran out of the elevator together.
Later, Ling Yizhou tried to convince Xia Lin to move back in with him, citing the inconvenience of living alone. Xia Lin firmly declined, asserting that while she had lost her memory, she was not disabled. When Ling Yizhou wondered how she knew her house password, she calmly stated it was the date of her first award win.
Ling Yizhou wished to stay the night, but Xia Lin politely asked him to leave, explaining that she needed time and space to process the reality of their marriage and couldn't find peace with him there. Wen Li subtly advised Ling Yizhou to respect her need for time and space. Ling Yizhou agreed, promising to leave and asking to be informed immediately of any issues.
As Ling Yizhou was about to leave, he asked Wen Li about his plans for the Double Seventh Festival. Wen Li mentioned preparing a romantic candlelight dinner with red wine for Fei, believing it was what girls liked. Ling Yizhou dismissed the idea as "outdated," suggesting that sending a red envelope would be far more effective, and warned Wen Li that such an old-fashioned gesture would hinder his chances with Fei.
Convinced, Wen Li immediately called to cancel his restaurant reservation. Alone in her home, Xia Lin pondered if her housekeeper, Ms. Huang, was a spy sent by Ling Yizhou, and then questioned aloud where her marriage certificate was.
