Her manager, Miss Jiang, immediately asks if she is alright and apologizes for the way she handled the recent breakup announcement on social media. Xia Lin expresses concern that Ling Yizhou might have taken the breakup seriously. Miss Jiang encourages Xia Lin to focus on her work, assuring her that she will handle the relationship matters. Later, Xia Lin, accompanied by her assistant Yuyuan, visits the hospital.
The doctor assures her that her foot is fine. After sending Yuyuan away, Xia Lin returns to the doctor, feigning severe symptoms like heart pain and dizziness, asking for various comprehensive tests. The doctor calmly explains that she is in the orthopedics department and these tests require other specialists. As Xia Lin leaves the consultation room, she notices another female patient with a bandaged foot in the waiting area.
She discreetly takes a photo of the woman's foot, posts it on social media, and captions it, saying she has been busy and her foot sprain is merely "the icing on the cake." Moments later, a team of doctors, identifying themselves as orthopedic experts from Lingshi medical team, approaches, mistaking the other patient for Xia Lin. They explain they heard about her injury and are there to treat her, then wheel the confused patient away.
Observing this, Xia Lin realizes Ling Yizhou is behind it, seeing it as proof of his concern, and decides to escalate her plan. Upon returning home, Xia Lin finds Ling Yizhou occupied with work. Ling Yizhou simply tells her to ask Ms. Huang for anything she needs before leaving again.
Ms. Huang later reports to Ling Yizhou that Xia Lin's sprain is mild. Ling Yizhou instructs Ms. Huang to send Xia Lin's luggage to her room, ensure she has everything she needs, and prevent her from moving around too much. That evening, Xia Lin attempts to get Ling Yizhou to share her room by wearing a seductive nightgown and drinking wine.
Ling Yizhou takes the wine away, reminding her that injured people shouldn't drink, and tells her he will sleep in the guest room. Xia Lin protests, accusing him of "cold violence" and insisting she won't disturb him. Ling Yizhou seems to understand her intentions, wraps her in his sleepwear, and carries her back to her own room. Later, he brings her milk, applies medicine to her sprained foot, and then leaves after she gives him a quick kiss.
Though Ling Yizhou remains outwardly composed, Xia Lin senses he still cares for her. Xia Lin later goes down for dinner but finds Ling Yizhou still working in his study. She brings him fruit and offers to massage his shoulders, which he politely declines, citing an upcoming online conference. Frustrated by Ling Yizhou's distant behavior, Xia Lin confides in her friend Fei. Fei suggests that Ling Yizhou is torn, deeply in love but also hurt, and needs time to heal.
She advises Xia Lin to buy him an apology gift. Unsure of what Ling Yizhou likes, Xia Lin even consults Wen Li, who also admits he doesn't know much about Ling Yizhou's personal preferences. Meanwhile, Xiao You visits Chu Yan at his office, finding him working late. When Chu Yan experiences an asthma attack, Xiao You promptly offers him medicine, explaining that a family member also has asthma.
A sudden power outage leaves Xiao You frightened, and she asks Chu Yan to accompany her to the restroom. In the dark, empty hall, Xiao You becomes nervous, hearing sounds she can't identify. Chu Yan attributes it to the air conditioner, but Xiao You points out the power is out. A chair then rolls towards them, startling Xiao You. It turns out to be a colleague who had fallen asleep while leaning on the chair.
The lights soon come back on, relieving Xiao You. Later, while searching Ling Yizhou's bedroom for gift ideas, Xia Lin discovers a photograph of him at eight years old, holding a robot. She speaks to Ling Yizhou's grandmother, who reveals the robot was a gift from his mother. Xia Lin confesses her recent mistakes and her desire to mend her relationship with Ling Yizhou. His grandmother reassures her that Ling Yizhou is very loyal and, once he commits to someone, he loves them wholeheartedly. He coldly tells her he has long grown accustomed to handling all problems on his own since she left and requests that she no longer disturb his life. After Mrs. Nan departs, Xia Lin apologizes to Ling Yizhou, admitting her own shortcomings in their relationship, particularly keeping secrets and making decisions for him. Ling Yizhou confides in Xia Lin, sharing his long-held emotional burden of being expected to be flawless, and expresses gratitude for her understanding.
He acknowledges that today's confrontation, though painful, was a step towards healing and making peace with his past. They reconcile, with Xia Lin tenderly asking if "Mumu can still become Yizhou," to which Ling Yizhou affectionately replies, "Mumu has already become Yizhou," and they embrace.
Following their reconciliation, Ling Yizhou instructs Wen Li to find the best orthopedic doctor for Xia Lin, specifically mentioning her social media posts, indicating he had been aware of her initial deception but still prioritized her well-being. Meanwhile, Ling Yizhou and Wen Li discuss Miss Jiang, confirming she is Yao Liang's sister, which was previously unnoticed due to their different surnames and separate household registrations.
Wen Li reveals that Miss Jiang purchased and disseminated the gossip photos of Ling Yizhou and Xia Lin, is highly suspected of planting the listening device in Ling Yizhou's phone case, and spread rumors about him using a scapegoat for an accident. Ling Yizhou believes Miss Jiang is not acting alone and stresses the danger they face if they cannot uncover the person supporting her from behind the scenes.
