Before the Empress Dowager died, she had already left an edict to choose an Empress for Liu Ziye. When Liu Ziye heard about this, he flew into a rage, even making everyone laugh during the Empress Dowager's mourning period and going on a killing spree. After Liu Ziye left, Liu Chuyu stood before the Empress Dowager's coffin, clenching her fists. Such an inhumane and unjust Liu Ziye truly deserved to be killed.

That night, with thunder rolling, Liu Chuyu went to Liu Ziye's palace, filled with a strong intent to kill. Liu Ziye cried loudly, holding his elder sister, shouting that there were ghosts, and that Yin Shuyi and the Empress Dowager had come to claim his life. He also shouted that someone was trying to kill him. Liu Chuyu had originally planned to act, but the Imperial Guards rushed in after hearing Liu Ziye's shouts.

After Liu Ziye drove the people out, Liu Chuyu saw him hiding in the quilt out of fear and asked him what he was so afraid of. Liu Ziye recalled how, when he was a child, Yin Shuyi, relying on the Emperor's favor, subjected him to all sorts of humiliation. Later, when Liu Ziye grew up, he personally strangled Yin Shuyi. Whoever made him afraid, he would kill. Liu Chuyu asked him if he would kill her.

Liu Ziye leaned on her shoulder, his behavior intimate, saying his elder sister was the best to him, and he still wanted to protect her. Liu Chuyu was momentarily moved and let go of her murderous intent. Liu Chuyu found Tian Rujing and asked him about the grievances between his master and Rong Zhi. Tian Rujing told her that Rong Zhi was destined to be a greedy wolf, a naturally insidious and cunning person.

However, Liu Chuyu was so captivated by his appearance that she kept him in the princess's manor. Therefore, the previous Celestial Master had made an agreement with Rong Zhi that unless he could reverse the losing situation, he could not leave the princess's manor. After the Celestial Master's death, this agreement was inherited by Tian Rujing. Liu Chuyu never believed in the talk of destiny; she only believed that her fate was her own to control.

She hoped Tian Rujing could exorcise the ghosts for Liu Ziye so that he would no longer be afraid of spirits. However, Tian Rujing insisted that he could not exorcise ghosts and would certainly not lie. After Liu Chuyu returned to her manor, facing the calm lake, her heart rippled with indecision. She didn't know whether she should kill Liu Ziye. Just then, Rong Zhi came over. Liu Chuyu asked him what to do when her heart was conflicted.

Rong Zhi told her to follow her own heart. This made Liu Chuyu suddenly enlightened. Since she couldn't bear to act, she would thoroughly change Liu Ziye; this would not go against her original intention. However, facing Fendai, who was also from the Tianji Pavilion, and seeing her worry for her, Liu Chuyu couldn't help but feel guilty.

For Liu Ziye, Liu Chuyu planned to host a banquet for the clans in the bamboo forest under the name of Yu Zichu to win over people's hearts. She had previously attended a winding-stream poetry gathering under the name of Yu Zichu, and it would be excellent to invite famous people widely under this name. Liu Ziye refused to attend court, and Liu Chuyu did not force him.

Instead, she told him stories about the ancestors of the Liu clan, hoping he would benefit from them. The Liu ancestors were originally from humble backgrounds but later, through their own efforts, joined the military, treated scholars with respect, and thus achieved great success. Liu Ziye listened with great interest, but it was unknown if it would be effective.

When Liu Chuyu left the palace, Tian Rujing specifically waited at the palace gate to tell her that doing so was futile and went against the way of heaven. Liu Chuyu did not believe in any way of heaven; she only believed in herself. Liu Chuyu was extremely dedicated to transforming Liu Ziye, working tirelessly from dawn till dusk to prepare stories of enlightened rulers.

Rong Zhi, knowing her intentions, shook his head and chuckled, surprised that she could go to such lengths for Liu Ziye. Liu Chuyu had been too overworked these days, and her voice was hoarse. Rong Zhi personally treated her and told her to take good care of her throat. Liu Chuyu's bamboo forest banquet was set for three days later, and Rong Zhi promised her that he would dance at the banquet.

At the bamboo forest banquet, renowned clan members gathered. Rong Zhi danced gracefully in the bamboo forest, using a bamboo branch as a sword, his posture free and easy, yet Wang Yizhi saw a sharp edge in his movements. After the dance, Liu Chuyu, dressed in men's attire, rushed over. She had previously clashed with a certain Xiao Langjun during a winding-stream poetry gathering. At the banquet, Xiao Langjun's words carried hidden meanings, showing great prejudice against her.

Liu Chuyu was determined to make him yield wholeheartedly. Xiao Langjun was a lover of the zither. The zither Liu Chuyu had prepared for the banquet had a distinguished origin: it was Sima Xiangru's Luqi. To completely subdue Xiao Langjun in one go, she raised her hand and smashed the Luqi.

Xiao Langjun was furious, but Liu Chuyu laughed at him, saying he possessed only zither skills but no true zither heart, treating playing the zither merely as a tool for seeking fame and profit. These words filled Xiao Langjun with shame and completely changed his perception of Liu Chuyu. After Xiao Langjun left, Jiankang's foremost beauty, Zhong Niannian, arrived at the bamboo forest.

This zither originally belonged to Zhong Niannian; she had intended to use it to choose a husband, which was why she sold it at a high price. Huan Yuan, unaware of the deeper meaning behind this, had purchased the zither. When Zhong Niannian saw the person behind the purchase of the zither, she wished to stay by her side. Although Liu Chuyu presented herself in men's attire outdoors, she was, after all, a woman.

Her refusal made Zhong Niannian feel humiliated, and she swore to leave Jiankang city and never appear again. In the princess's manor, Moxiang discovered Fendai secretly sending pigeons to contact the outside world, raising suspicions.
