The mathematical modeling competition was scheduled to be completed within two days, with simple beds and food provided in the machine room. Lin Zhaosheng arrived early, but when the staff came to take attendance, he deliberately stalled, hoping for Lin Zhaoxi and Pei Zhi to arrive. The impatient staff member warned him that if his two teammates didn't show up immediately, their team would be disqualified.
Just then, Lin Zhaoxi rushed in with Ji Jiang, who was wearing his hat pulled low to conceal his identity. The staff, unsuspecting, allowed them into the machine room. Meanwhile, Zhang Liang, feigning a trip to the restroom, saw "Pei Zhi" (Ji Jiang) arrive through a window. He then instructed his teammates, A-guang and Mr. Wang, to choose the most challenging problem, B, and they divided the work among themselves. Lin Zhaoxi also chose Problem B.
She and Pei Zhi had previously developed a program to catch thieves, so they were quite adept at the task. As Lin Zhaoxi articulated her ideas, Lin Zhaosheng and Ji Jiang, unable to assist, sat nearby and played chess. At the same time, Bao Xiaomeng called Lin Zhaoxi, saying that Lu Zhihao's father had sent a large quantity of fish and seafood, and she wanted to deliver some.
Lin Zhaoxi, expecting to finish the competition in two days, asked Bao Xiaomeng to place the seafood in her refrigerator. Meanwhile, the real Pei Zhi went to the ancient tower. He smashed open the wall containing the mathematical formulas, retrieved a tin box holding a letter, and then meticulously repaired the breach with cement. Bao Xiaomeng happened to pass by and noticed Pei Zhi restoring the wall.
Pei Zhi asked her to keep his actions a secret, fearing Lin Zhaoxi would scold him for being meddlesome. Bao Xiaomeng chuckled, calling him the "Best boyfriend on earth." Back at the competition, Ji Jiang was repeatedly losing at chess. Feeling discouraged, he wanted to quit, but Lin Zhaosheng urged him for another round. Ji Jiang then excused himself to use the restroom. Lin Zhaosheng advised him to keep his mask on to avoid being recognized.
Ji Jiang stealthily made his way to the restroom, but Zhang Liang followed him. Ji Jiang quickly hid in a stall, but Zhang Liang persisted, pressing him about which problem their team had chosen. Ji Jiang, his voice hoarse, reluctantly revealed they chose Problem B. Zhang Liang announced his team also chose B and hinted at their upcoming rivalry, then left.
Believing the coast was clear, Ji Jiang tried to sneak back to the machine room but was caught by Zhang Liang, who recognized him despite the disguise. Zhang Liang threatened to report him for cheating. Ji Jiang pleaded with Zhang Liang not to, explaining that Pei Zhi had an emergency today and would be back tomorrow, and that he was only filling in to maintain their qualification.
He argued that their team was already at a disadvantage and that reporting them would prevent Zhang Liang from competing fairly against Pei Zhi, whom he seemed keen to face. Zhang Liang, after some thought, agreed not to report him, confirming that Pei Zhi would indeed come the next day. Soon after, Lu Zhihao called Ji Jiang, reminding him about a new film showcase he had to attend the next morning.
Ji Jiang promised to be ready for pickup at Sanwei University's gym entrance. Pei Zhi arrived at a boxing gym and locked himself in a room, securing it with three locks. It was Cheese Pei Zhi, the version of himself from the Cheese World, in control of the body. He addressed the trapped consciousness of Strawberry Pei Zhi, the original Pei Zhi of this world, intending to exchange their lives via self-hypnosis.
He explained that his arrival in Strawberry World was because he had fallen in love with its Lin Zhaoxi, who was different from the Lin Zhaoxi he knew in Cheese World. He offered Strawberry Pei Zhi a way back to the Cheese World to live with his father, Pei Donglai, claiming he had already discussed it with him. Cheese Pei Zhi then initiated the hypnosis, setting an alarm for when he would regain full control.
During the hypnosis, Strawberry Pei Zhi, briefly in control, vehemently refused the exchange, asserting he would tell Lin Zhaoxi everything. He tried desperately to escape the locked room but failed. When Cheese Pei Zhi regained control, he showed Strawberry Pei Zhi a video explaining that a bloodstain on a letter was the key to traveling between worlds. He noted that two of the three original bloodstains had already been used for previous travels.
He then attempted to entice Strawberry Pei Zhi with the "P=NP" world of Cheese World, where he was a renowned mathematician. When Strawberry Pei Zhi again refused, Cheese Pei Zhi revealed that he had anticipated this and had learned lock-picking specifically for this moment. He asserted that one world could only have one Pei Zhi and declared his intention to permanently trap Strawberry Pei Zhi in his body, using Strawberry Pei Zhi's mental illness to his advantage.
Back at the modeling competition, Lin Zhaoxi was deeply immersed in her work. Ji Jiang, observing her, commented on her intense focus, likening her dedication to the "Halo of Courage" that inspires those around her. He reflected on how much he used to admire her for her positivity. Later that night, Pei Zhi called Lin Zhaoxi, saying he was outside. She opened a window to let him in, and he immediately embraced her tightly.
Ji Jiang, feeling a bit awkward, decided it was his cue to leave. He climbed out the window, getting momentarily stuck, before heading off to wait for Lu Zhihao to pick him up.
