Originally, when facing police questioning, Zhang Huashan admitted that Zhou Luo was a smart child, but his excessive intelligence made him elusive, so he worried that Zhou Luo might go astray. As for whether Zhang Qingli would like Zhou Luo, Zhang Huashan had never thought about this question. He believed his daughter was relatively simple and, while not minding her seeking Zhou Luo's help with studies, he strongly opposed them dating.

However, Zhang Huashan never expected Zhang Qingli to get involved in this scandal. Although Zhou Luo and Chen Jun cut off the power in time, preventing damage to Zhang Qingli's reputation, he still found it difficult to accept the fact of his daughter's early romance with Zhou Luo. Zhang Qingli stood in front of Zhou Luo and argued fiercely with Zhang Huashan, angering Zhang Huashan to the point of almost fainting. Lao Chen's request to recuse himself was rejected. The captain of the criminal police team believed that although Chen Ling was involved in the case, her involvement was not significantly related to the main case, thus there was no need for recusal from the Nan Ya case.

The captain cautioned them not to overthink things, and simply to uphold the law impartially and justly. Before the superiors made a decision, the case would be primarily handled by Lin Fanglu, with Lao Chen temporarily assisting alongside him. Subsequently, Lao Chen went to the hospital to visit his daughter Chen Ling and asked about her whereabouts on the night of the incident, which resulted in Chen Ling losing emotional control.

Her colleagues were discussing how well-matched Chen Ling and Jiang Zhi were. Hearing this, Chen Ling became furious and even smashed the things Jiang Zhi had left in the office. Afterwards, she found out that they were actually full moon gifts from Jiang Zhi to the director's grandson. That night, Lao Chen dreamed that Chen Ling had killed Xu Yi. He woke up with lingering fear.

Meanwhile, Chen Ling was restless in her room, looking at the gift Xu Yi had given her, her emotions complex. The romance between Zhang Qingli and Zhou Luo spread throughout the school, causing much discussion. Zhang Qingli knew that gossip could be destructive, but she still chose to hide the secret for Zhou Luo. Due to the relationship exposure, Zhou Luo was suspended from school.

Lin Gui Xiang and her husband sought out Lin Fanglu and others to uphold justice, firmly believing their son was innocent and would not do anything to harm a girl's reputation. Therefore, Lin Fanglu suspected that either Zhang Qingli or Zhou Luo was lying. Zhang Qingli argued with her parents, threatening that if they insisted on suspending Zhou Luo, she would give up her chance to retake the university entrance exam.

At this moment, Yang Mei called to counsel Zhou Luo, blaming herself for not protecting him and letting him fall into gossip. In the past, Yang Mei always felt that the innocent would naturally be proven innocent and disdained explaining and clarifying, which led to things getting out of control later on.

However, she now underestimated the seriousness of the matter and did not advise Zhou Luo to cut his losses in time, which caused a huge change in his life. Therefore, she hoped he wouldn't waste time on meaningless things, and that as long as he got into a top domestic university and achieved success, his future would be limitless from then on.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Zhang Qingli came to the Zhou family looking for Zhou Luo but was refused entry by Lin Gui Xiang. Crying outside the door, she expressed her true feelings, which made Lin Gui Xiang feel sorry for her. Zhou Luo brought Zhang Qingli into the room and said he didn't want her to bear such a reputation, deciding to confess to the police.

But Zhang Qingli hugged him tightly, believing that as long as they could get into university in Beijing and never return, she didn't care about her current reputation. As long as she could protect Zhou Luo from harm, she was willing to pay any price.
