Ever since Nan Ya's father died on a winter night with heavy snow, Hu Xiu has hated Nan Ya deeply, even cursing her as a "vixen" in front of the police. She seemed convinced that Hu Lifan did not lustfully assault Nan Ya back then, but rather Nan Ya intentionally seduced Hu Lifan. This resentment always gave Hu Xiu an excuse to attack Nan Ya. The evil of Qingshui Town was etched into its bones and flowed in its blood.

When this "water" was no longer clear, the malice would scatter with just a gust of wind, making one shudder. Most of the rumors about Nan Ya were spread by Xu Yi and Chen Ling together, and another part was instigated by Hu Xiu to achieve her ulterior motives.

On New Year's Eve of the millennium, Hu Xiu cursed at Nan Ya on the street, but Nan Ya was not to be outdone, warning her to move out of her father's house as soon as possible, otherwise she would seek legal recourse. These words completely enraged Hu Xiu. She ran to Xu Yi to complain, maliciously speculating that Nan Ya had a lover outside, and Xu Yi actually believed her.

Seeing Xu Yi angrily take Nan Ya away, Hu Xiu felt triumphant. However, the next second, she was rushed to the hospital due to angina. After waking up, she noticed Chen Ling crying sadly in the corner, and using Chen Ling's plight, she attempted to solidify Nan Ya's image as a ruthless and promiscuous woman.

Last time, Liu Xun felt unsatisfied after provoking Zhou Luo with a photo of the female teacher, so this time he escalated, posting posters all over the classroom. The two got into a big fight on campus, making it known throughout the school. Principal Zhang Huashan rushed to call the police to stop the farce, but he didn't want the students to be detained and affect their college entrance exams, so he eventually just criticized and lectured them.

Lin Fanglu spoke to Liu Xun alone, warning him not to do things that harm others without benefiting himself. In contrast, Zhou Luo had dinner with Chen Jun and others, intending to reveal the real reason he dropped out of school, but everyone didn't mind at all and were still willing to be friends with him. Zhang Qingli was even more heartbroken by Zhou Luo's experience.

On the other side, Lin Guixiang was rummaging through Zhou Luo's room, always feeling that her son was hiding something from them. Zhou's father advised his wife not to pry into their son's privacy, but Lin Guixiang revealed that she witnessed the car burning on New Year's Eve and, based on Zhou Luo's reaction, he was the one who burned the car.

Lin Fanglu contacted his girlfriend Wen Ting, asking her to help find out the reason for Zhou Luo's dropping out. Wen Ting knew that Lin Fanglu used to like Nan Ya and reminded him not to get caught up in such a clichéd romance drama, much less dream of being a hero saving a beauty. They were both rational people and eventually had to return to normal life. That night, everyone was lost in their thoughts.

Lao Chen learned from the cinema ticket checker that Nan Ya and Xu Yi did not watch a movie, which meant Xu Jian's testimony was not mixed with lies. Afterwards, Lao Chen asked Lin Fanglu to accompany him for a chat by the river and shared their own concerns.

Lin Fanglu said his mentor had regrets over an unsolved case, while Lao Chen also stated frankly that as long as the Hu Lifan case remained unsolved, it would be a knot in his heart. Although a suspect was arrested before, the suspect revealed the killer was Qiu Kuan, who was already dead. Only Hu Xiu insisted that Hu Lifan was killed by Nan Ya. The next morning, the two personally went to Hu Xiu to understand the situation.

Hu Xiu was still cursing Nan Ya, wishing she were dead. This hatred was definitely not groundless. Seeing that Hu Xiu was unwilling to reveal more information, Lin Fanglu prepared to leave. However, Hu Xiu suddenly stopped them and, after a moment of hesitation, voluntarily confessed some old matters. From her disjointed words, Lin Fanglu and Lao Chen were basically able to confirm that Hu Lifan had assaulted Nan Ya when they were students. Although in everyone's eyes this was a forced assault, Hu Xiu still insisted that Nan Ya was indecent and deliberately seduced her son, which led to this result.
