Sweet Combat Episode 16 Recap
> Sweet Combat Recap
Song Xiaomi, confident that she and Ming Tian would soon be a couple, eagerly anticipated a chance to boast to Fang Yu. However, Sun Hao, wishing to spare Fang Yu any heartache, suggested a more gradual approach, like "boiling a frog in warm water," a strategy Song Xiaomi ultimately accepted. Meanwhile, Fang Yu furiously punched a sandbag at the martial arts hall, haunted by the image of Song Xiaomi kissing Ming Tian.
Cheng Yanan urged Fang Yu to seek clarification from Ming Tian, but her advice only intensified Fang Yu's frustration. Later, while having dinner at Cheng Yanan’s home, Fang Yu overheard a conversation about the "Death Strike"—the very technique that killed Ji Gang. She learned that the person who delivered the fatal blow was Cheng Yanan's father's senior martial brother.
Startled and enraged, Fang Yu immediately stood up to leave, sternly warning Cheng Yanan that if she ever learned the Death Strike, their friendship would be irrevocably severed. Ji Gang held profound significance for Fang Yu, and she harbored deep resentment for both the Death Strike and the one who wielded it. In his own space, Ming Tian, contemplating his upcoming league match, began to understand the immense pressures his father must have faced.
Gazing at his father's photograph, he firmly resolved not to disappoint him. Back home, Fang Yu continued her relentless training, her hands bleeding from the impact. Fang Zhou, concerned, tried to persuade her to let go of her pain, but Fang Yu couldn't. She confessed that Ji Gang felt more like a parent to her than her actual mother and father, having been the most important person in her life, especially when her parents were away.
Cheng Yanan found Luo Guanyan and urged him not to learn the Death Strike. Luo Guanyan, however, insisted the accident wasn't solely the Death Strike's fault. He revealed that he had watched the competition video and from his observation, the final strike was not a lethal blow, and the experienced athlete should not have died from it. Cheng Yanan's stomach grumbled, prompting Luo Guanyan to offer to treat her to baked flatbread and fried bread sticks.
She declined, explaining she was dieting to make her body lighter and increase her punching speed, all in preparation to finally beat Fang Yu. Ming Tian had a vivid dream where Fang Yu "wall-slammed" him, expressing her dislike for the situation and the image of Song Xiaomi kissing him that she couldn't erase from her mind. Ming Tian tried to clarify it was a misunderstanding, but Fang Yu was insistent she had to "completely erase that image."
As she leaned in to kiss him, Ming Tian abruptly woke up, startled and confused. Downstairs, he found his siblings, Ming Zhu and Ming Lang, joyfully eating a breakfast made by Song Xiaomi. Ming Tian attempted to clarify some matters with her, but she cut him off, instructing him to focus solely on the upcoming preliminaries. The day of the preliminaries arrived at Zhengze Academy. Sun Hao attended with his mother.
Song Xiaomi also brought Ming Zhu and Ming Lang to cheer for Ming Tian. Ma Yichen confronted Ming Tian, declaring him fated to be a loser. Ming Tian calmly responded that he hoped Ma Yichen would get a chance to prove his words in the ring. Fang Yu arrived in the audience, eliciting cheers; as S-rank players, she, Cheng Yanan, and Song Xiaomi did not have to participate in the preliminaries.
The principals of Zhengze and Zhiying academies exchanged veiled threats before the supervisor initiated the matches. Two groups of competitors simultaneously entered the arena, with Sun Hao in one of them. He was immediately pinned by his female opponent. However, drawing on his diligent training and street-fighting techniques, Sun Hao quickly turned the tables and defeated her. Later, while purchasing drinks, Fang Yu overheard a mysterious individual arrogantly disparaging Zhengze Academy.
She attempted to pursue the person but was stopped by Ming Tian. He seemed to have something urgent to tell her, anxiously reaching out to hold her hand as she tried to walk away. Fang Yu, still replaying the scene of Song Xiaomi kissing Ming Tian in her mind, instinctively pulled her hand away, the awkward atmosphere prompting her to quickly flee.
Elsewhere, He Xiaofeng tried to give Luo Guanyan her lucky bandages, but her gesture was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Cheng Yanan. Watching Cheng Yanan encourage Luo Guanyan, a jealous He Xiaofeng made an excuse to leave. Cheng Yanan's father also arrived to watch Luo Guanyan's match. Luo Guanyan then faced Sun Hao in the ring.
Luo Guanyan initially adopted a defensive stance, allowing Sun Hao, who had already fought multiple rounds, to attack so they could fight under the same conditions. Sun Hao, frustrated, pressed his offense, but Luo Guanyan eventually unleashed his formidable skill, defeating him. As Ming Tian prepared for his match, Fang Zhou, attending a company meeting, opened his laptop to watch the live broadcast.
Fang Yu found Ming Tian and encouraged him, telling him not to be nervous and that his hard work would pay off. In the ring, Ming Tian immediately attacked Luo Guanyan, but his impatience proved costly. He was quickly knocked down, causing Fang Yu, Cheng Yanan, Song Xiaomi, and Fang Zhou to watch on with bated breath.
