This was the consequence of her own actions, and she didn’t blame anyone else.

Though he kept saying he wouldn’t hurt her, Jin Jingxue was still afraid.

She became more convinced that he knew what happened to Li Yingliang, so she pretended to be obedient and ate the breakfast he brought back. Shen Zhiheng received an invitation sent by Vice Officer Wu—it was a gesture of goodwill. Jin Jingxue specially wore the clothes Situ Weilian had bought her and prepared wine to seduce him. Situ Weilian didn’t approach, afraid of hurting her.

Mi Lan wanted to hear Shen Zhiheng’s story, so he slowly began, but Mi Lan was curious about only one thing—had he ever loved someone?
