Hua Zhen was about to undergo training at the Shanghai wharf for a week. During his free time from training, he bought some fruit to visit Tian Dongbao. Everyone was very happy to see Hua Zhen; they were all former comrades. Bai Shoujun and several others brought Tian Dongbao supplies like rice, eggs, and essential winter coal briquettes. It was clear that the group often helped each other out and still maintained a close relationship.

The meal was ready, and everyone sat around the table chatting, talking about their lives after the Fourth Department was disbanded. Tian Dongbao was moving goods and doing manual labor at the wharf, Bai Shoujun was a salesman at a department store, and the former chief was now serving meals in the canteen at the Sixteenth District Branch. Hua Zhen smiled, nodded, and listened carefully. Only Chen Hao wasn't mentioned.

He specifically asked about Chen Hao's situation, and the former chief murmured that Chen Hao was currently working in the detective section of the Sixteenth District Branch. The former chief immediately called everyone to start eating. After dinner, Hua Zhen drove Luo Minmin home. Along the way, Hua Zhen finally asked Luo Minmin about her recent life. Luo Minmin immediately said she was very busy.

Since the Fourth Department was disbanded, she had been managing her family's photo studio business while also attending classes in the evenings. Actually, Luo Minmin really wanted to ask Hua Zhen why he hadn't written to her. She clutched her abdomen tightly, saying she had severe stomach pain. Furthermore, since her husband's disappearance, she had been subjected to some inexplicable stalking and pursuit. Just recently, after leaving the hospital, she was hit by a large truck. Fortunately, she escaped onto a tram.

However, after getting off, the license-plate-less large truck drove directly towards her again, clearly intending to kill her. Nevertheless, Reporter Peng's wife managed to escape all the way here. Hua Zhen and Luo Minmin understood the general situation. Seeing that Reporter Peng's wife was in very poor physical condition and the truck was rushing towards them again, in a moment of urgency, Hua Zhen immediately took Luo Minmin and Reporter Peng's wife into the car.

They struggled to evade the pursuit along the way, entering the Navy Headquarters infirmary where they settled Reporter Peng's wife. It was already late at night. Hua Zhen was worried that the truck might still be there if Luo Minmin left at this time, so he found an excuse to keep Luo Minmin at the hospital as well, claiming it would be convenient to look after Reporter Peng's wife.

The truck chasing Reporter Peng's wife belonged to killers hired by Feng Guangyun, specifically for carrying out assassinations and other illicit activities in secret. They reported everything that happened throughout the night to Feng Guangyun. Feng Guangyun was puzzled as to who had such great influence as to settle Reporter Peng's wife at the Jiangnan Shipyard. This place was a military facility with extremely strict security measures, and generally, one could not enter casually.

That night, Chen Hao was also secretly tracking the assassination truck, but he lost sight of it near a gas station. He also learned that Hua Zhen had protected Reporter Peng's wife at the Jiangnan Shipyard. He asked Shi Junyu what to do next. Shi Junyu instructed him that Feng Guangyun could not possibly trust him completely at this point, and he must maintain his distance from Reporter Peng's wife, the farther the better.

Chen Hao kept his superior's arrangement in mind, but the next day when Feng Guangyun was going to the Navy Headquarters with his men, he called upon Chen Hao. Chen Hao and the other police officers arrived at the heavily guarded Navy Headquarters. Feng Guangyun used the excuse of looking for someone but was directly denied entry. It just so happened that Hua Zhen and other sailors were going out for training and crossed paths with Feng Guangyun.

Feng Guangyun knew that Hua Zhen and Chen Hao had a good relationship, so he specifically asked Chen Hao to help facilitate entry. Hua Zhen did not agree to Chen Hao's request and refused him directly and walked away without hesitation. Chen Hao felt relieved. When he met with Shi Junyu that day, she gave him a pistol. Now the organization intended to rescue Reporter Peng and his family, and encountering Hua Zhen had made things complicated.

Shi Junyu instructed Chen Hao not to shoot unless it was an emergency. Chen Hao understood the intention; he didn't want to implicate Hua Zhen and the police officers from the Fourth Department and tried to find a compromise solution. Luo Minmin received a mission to secretly investigate who Tan Shiyuan was meeting with in secret, as this person was highly relevant to Reporter Peng's disappearance case.

While patrolling near Yipinxiang Restaurant, Chen Hao suddenly discovered that the person meeting Tan Shiyuan was none other than Hua Liang! He had met Hua Liang before and had worked with him to rescue Hua Zhen, so he couldn't be mistaken.
