The light in the room was very dim. Luo Minmin offered herself as bait, walking in front, feeling apprehensive. Hua Zhen followed close behind her. Finally, they saw the brutal Japanese person. Their eyes met, and the Japanese person leaped up to harm Luo Minmin, but was immediately kicked down by Hua Zhen. Luo Minmin originally had a good chance to counterattack, but she hadn't undergone formal combat training and almost put herself in danger.

Seeing that there were many people, the Japanese person continued to flee. Chen Hao and Hua Zhen rushed over. The Japanese person had a gun in hand. Worried that the other colleagues from Team Four were in danger, Chen Hao locked the door of the room he was about to enter. After working with Hua Zhen to subdue the Japanese person, Chen Hao took out handcuffs.

After putting the Japanese person in handcuffs, Chen Hao also handcuffed Hua Zhen to the side, saying he was going to hand the Japanese person over to the Sixteenth Police Station. Hua Zhen was very angry when he heard this. He knew that Feng Guangyun from the Sixteenth Bureau colluded with the Japanese people and that it was impossible to get justice for the Meng couple. Of course, Chen Hao would not hand the murderer over to Feng Guangyun.

He had anticipated this with Shi Junyu before, but to protect Hua Zhen, Chen Hao still lied. Chen Hao escorted the Japanese person to the French Concession. Soon, Shi Junyu arrived with the police from the French Concession. Shi Junyu produced an arrest warrant, reporting that the Japanese person had killed someone in the French Concession, and presented the dagger as physical evidence.

Chen Hao deliberately pretended to be unaware and was reluctant to hand over the murderer he had finally caught to the French Concession. After taking the Japanese person away, Shi Junyu told Chen Hao that the Japanese people's influence in China was currently very strong. Even if the murderer was caught, he could not be sentenced to death. The final outcome would be nothing more than being sent back to his country and paying a fine to settle the matter.

Chen Hao felt very disheartened. This was the most ideal outcome – on Chinese territory, they couldn't convict a Japanese person, and they could only watch them get away with it. It was just extradition, just temporarily preventing them from acting wildly on Chinese soil. Chen Hao also asked Shi Junyu about Hua Zhen's identity. Shi Junyu had investigated before and found that Hua Zhen had a strong family background.

He was currently studying at the Naval Academy and would become an important figure within the Kuomintang after graduation. He was completely different from them and could not possibly become one of them. Chen Hao felt very regretful. He had already considered Hua Zhen his closest friend. Thinking that they might face each other as enemies in the future, he could not accept it.

In the evening, Chen Hao returned home and saw Hua Zhen waiting for him at the door. Hua Zhen wanted an explanation. Chen Hao claimed that he was taken away by the French Concession police halfway there. Hua Zhen questioned Chen Hao why he didn't trust the Kuomintang so much, saying that even if someone from the Sixteenth Sub-bureau was corrupt, it didn't mean the entire Nationalist Government was corrupt accomplices. He even struck Chen Hao.

Chen Hao was also full of grievances; he hated the Japanese people more than anyone and hoped to bring them to justice. The next day, Hua Zhen went to see Shi Junyu in the French Concession again. Shi Junyu reconfirmed that extraditing the murderer was the best possible outcome. Meanwhile, Wei Daiqing was not idle either. He had been tracking whose belt was tied to the Communist Party member's body.

He tracked it all the way to Nanjing and heard the tailor shop owner confirm that it was specially custom-made for him by Hua Zhen's mother. Wei Daiqing was overjoyed and immediately requested an arrest from Secretary-General Guo of the Kuomintang that night. However, Secretary-General Guo was very cautious and refused to issue an arrest warrant based solely on this belt. He asked Wei Daiqing to find more clues.

Wei Daiqing devised a plan to meet Hua Zhen, deliberately claiming that Deng Mingyuan was about to be executed and that Hua Zhen could go see his teacher one last time. Originally, Wei Daiqing was hoping to find evidence that Hua Zhen was a Communist Party member. Who knew that during the eavesdropping, he heard Hua Zhen still asking Deng Mingyuan if he had really joined the GD? Wei Daiqing's calculation was wrong; the opportunity he had worked so hard to create turned out to be completely useless.
