After Feng Lixue returned, Chong Guang could tell she had gone to see Mo Xiao. Dissatisfied that Feng Lixue degraded herself like that, Chong Guang voiced his displeasure, but Feng Lixue ignored him completely. Zi Feng and Zi Mu, upon hearing that Mo Xiao had arrived at Suyu Mountain, rushed there to find him. Fearing they might be mistaken as spies, they were in a dilemma when Murong Jing also arrived looking for Mo Xiao.

Murong Jing took the initiative to stop the patrolling soldiers and asked them to inform Mo Xiao that an old friend had come to see him. Mo Xiao stood alone in the main hall. Wushuang, feeling sorry for him, brought clothes to drape over him, but Mo Xiao refused. Wushuang knew Mo Xiao was troubled and advised him to make plans early and not live unhappily every day.

However, Mo Xiao said that he had come back of his own will, that everything had nothing to do with Wushuang, and asked her not to meddle in his affairs. Xuyuan Yunchao, seeing this, became angry at Mo Xiao’s attitude toward Wushuang. He believed that Wushuang had lost Mo Xiao for so many years and poured all her love into Xuyuan Yunchao, treating him as if he were Mo Xiao’s replacement.

Of all people, Mo Xiao should be the last one to resent her. Mo Xiao couldn’t be bothered to argue and walked out directly, only to run into Murong Jing and Zi Feng and Zi Mu outside the hall. Murong Jing pleaded with Mo Xiao to return and restore the former Shushan, but Mo Xiao unceremoniously drove the three of them away. Wushuang then came to Murong Jing and the others on her own.

Knowing they were Mo Xiao’s friends, she introduced herself and arranged for them to stay, even thoughtfully bringing them warm clothes and tending to all their daily needs. Worried that they might feel uneasy, Wushuang assured them that Yaoling Palace was a place even Chong Guang couldn’t enter without permission, and that there was no need to distinguish between immortals and demons here—they could stay with peace of mind. Only then did Murong Jing and the others settle down.

Mo Xiao secretly watched all of this from a distance. Later, Mo Xiao came to find Murong Jing and demanded they leave the mountain the next day. Murong Jing insisted on not returning to Shushan. She knew that Mo Xiao hadn’t killed any disciples of Shushan back then; the ones who truly changed weren’t Mo Xiao but those who wanted to expel him. If that was the Shushan of now, then she’d rather not return.

Murong Jing also realized that Mo Xiao had long known who gave the Soul Crossing Curse to Lu Jianchuan, but had kept silent out of fear of hurting her and Murong Ce. Murong Jing found Ji Xingluo’s magical artifact in Yuan Beichen’s room and showed it to Mo Xiao. Wushuang happened to come in and explained that Yuan Beichen and Ji Xingluo had once been in love and had planned to elope.

However, Yuan Beichen was summoned back to become sect leader and couldn't refuse the position, thus betraying Ji Xingluo. That magical artifact had been a token of love from Ji Xingluo to Yuan Beichen. Murong Jing then realized that Yuan Beichen had also been wrongly accused of colluding with the demon sect. Despite everything, Mo Xiao still coldly told Murong Jing and the others to leave the next day. Afterward, Murong Jing saw Wushuang waiting for her.

She expressed her gratitude to Wushuang, who was touched but said it was only natural to care for her son’s friends and there was no need to thank her. Then she took Mo Xiao to the ancestral hall, where not only Night Abyss’s memorial tablet was placed, but also those of Yuan Beichen and the Sword Immortal of Wind and Moon.

After losing Mo Xiao, she had continually prayed to Night Abyss to bring her son back or at least let her know if he was doing well. By the time she found him, Mo Xiao was already the leader of Shushan. Wushuang bore no resentment toward the Sword Immortal of Wind and Moon, knowing that with her own ability she could not protect Mo Xiao nor ensure his healthy growth.

That Mo Xiao had been raised to be such an exceptional person by Wind and Moon and Yuan Beichen filled her with gratitude. From then on, she set up their memorial tablets as a way to repay their kindness. Seeing everything his mother had done for him, Mo Xiao finally understood Wushuang’s pain and called her “Mother. ” Wushuang’s eyes filled with tears as she embraced Mo Xiao tightly, and the rift between mother and son dissolved.

From Zi Feng, Murong Jing learned that Mo Xiao had once instructed them to investigate Lu Jianchuan, likely already suspecting Murong Changfeng. Feeling uneasy, Murong Jing went out for a walk and inadvertently came upon Changming’s small courtyard. Inside, she discovered a Wind Whisper Bell and Rootless Flower from the Wind Whisper Sect. This led her to suspect that her father had colluded with Changming, and she immediately informed Mo Xiao, begging him to save Shushan.

Mo Xiao knelt before his master’s memorial and asked Wushuang if she had brought him back for a specific reason. Wushuang sincerely hoped Mo Xiao could become a wise leader like Night Abyss. Years ago, Night Abyss had led their people to settle here, unacknowledged by the Celestial Clan, yet he willingly sacrificed everything for the asura clan. He was a true hero.

It was only after meeting Chong Guang and seeking to obtain the Thousand Years Token that things changed. Therefore, Wushuang only felt hatred for Chong Guang. She hoped Mo Xiao would replace Chong Guang as the lord but didn’t want him to seize the Thousand Years Token. All she wished for was her son’s health and happiness. The next day, Mo Xiao still cruelly drove away Murong Jing and the others, knowing that someone was secretly watching his every move.

Suddenly, Wushuang rang the Demon Bell, summoning everyone to the main hall. She declared that Mo Xiao had returned, and as their son, he should assume the position of demon lord. Chong Guang agreed to exchange, saying that had been his promise to Night Abyss. But since Mo Xiao had been raised by the immortal sects, they couldn't be sure of his true allegiance.

Therefore, he demanded Mo Xiao prove his sincerity by seizing the Thousand Years Token and activating the Demon Token. If he could summon the demon army tomorrow, Chong Guang would hand over the title. Mo Xiao agreed. Wushuang felt uneasy, worried that if Mo Xiao truly sat on that throne, there would be no turning back. Murong Jing returned to Shushan but did not go up the mountain.

Instead, she arranged to meet Murong Ce and told him everything about Murong Changfeng. Murong Ce found it hard to believe and was reluctant to accept it, but agreed to investigate. Murong Jing also did not intend to return to the sect. After telling Murong Ce everything, she took Zi Feng and Zi Mu to Tielü Sect to guard over Xie Lingyun’s recovery.

Murong Ce told Murong Jing that until the matter was fully investigated, she must not speak of it. That night, Murong Ce saw Murong Changfeng leave the house and sneaked into his room to investigate. Though he found nothing unusual and began to think he might have misunderstood his father, he then heard the sound of a Wind Whisper Bell—something that should only exist in the Wind Whisper Hall—coming from the room. Opening the drawer, he indeed found the bell.

Ling Xiang went to the forest to meet Murong Changfeng, begging to see her younger brother before the war between immortals and demons broke out. She also congratulated Murong Changfeng on his plan nearing success. To her surprise, however, the man who turned around was not Murong Changfeng—but Murong Ce. Murong Ce then realized that Ling Xiang was actually his father’s shadow assassin.
