Psych-Hunter Episode 30 Recap
> Psych-Hunter Recap
In a disturbing dream, Qin Yiheng found himself confronted by his brother, Qin Yichi, who confessed to having killed Jiang Shuo. Qin Yichi claimed his actions were for the Qin family, before Qin Yiheng woke up in Dr. Shen Tian’s office. Meanwhile, Jiang Shuo, Qin Yiheng, and Yuan Muqing arrived at a casino where a man, Wan Jiang Shuo, had lost all his money and was about to be forcibly removed.
Qin Yiheng intervened, offering to gamble with Wan Jiang Shuo. Yuan Muqing, also present, addressed Qin Yiheng as Second Master Qin. Inside a private room, Qin Yiheng revealed his identity as a doctor and the leader of the Liu Zhi Investigation Team at Changshan Police Station. He explained that he didn't want to gamble but needed to ask Wan Jiang Shuo a question, promising to return a jade pendant Wan Jiang Shuo possessed if he answered truthfully.
Qin Yiheng asked about Wan Jiang Shuo's relationship with Jiang Ye, who had been sentenced for treason years ago. Wan Jiang Shuo denied any connection. As he tried to leave, Jiang Shuo (the protagonist) stopped him, and upon seeing Wan Jiang Shuo's hesitation at the name Jiang Ye, Jiang Shuo used his abilities to enter Wan Jiang Shuo's Psych.
Inside Wan Jiang Shuo’s mind, Jiang Shuo immediately recognized the house as the old Jiang family residence, identical to the one Liu Zhi had shown him in his own Psych. Qin Yiheng agreed, noting the darkness and lack of light. They found a photograph of Jiang Ye, confirming him as the last owner of the Jiang Family Trading company and the mansion. Following faint music, they ascended to an upstairs room where they found a music box.
They witnessed a memory of a mother leading a little girl away, urging her to find her brother. The man they presumed to be Jiang Ye was lying injured with knife wounds. The scene then shifted to another memory where the mother woke her son, telling him to leave with her and promising to return for his two sisters.
In another memory, the children played chess, with one sister, Mi Mi, complaining about always losing to the other, Yan Yan, whom their father called a genius. One sister recounted a recurring dream of a faceless man in a suit threatening to kill their father, to which the boy, later identified as Jiang Shuo, promised to protect her. He aspired to be a mathematician, while his sister, Shen Tian, wanted to be a doctor to cure their mother.
They then heard a strange snoring sound, prompting Mi Mi to tell Yan Yan to return to her room as her snoring was too loud, but Shen Tian insisted the sound came from under the bed. Suddenly, Yuan Muqing’s voice broke through, waking Jiang Shuo and Qin Yiheng, informing them that Wan Jiang Shuo’s friends had taken him away.
Outside the Psych, Qin Yiheng dismissed the casino owner’s offer to recapture Wan Jiang Shuo, stating he had gathered the necessary clues. He explained to Yuan Muqing and Jiang Shuo that Wan Jiang Shuo was indeed Jiang Shuo, the sole male descendant of the four Jiang children, and that other siblings were alive and actively sabotaging the sale of their old mansion by staging supernatural events, even going so far as to harm Qin Yiheng’s brother.
Yuan Muqing then revealed a newspaper article about the Jiang family mansion. The article mentioned strange snoring, confirming that its true purpose was to deter potential buyers. She connected this detail to the snoring they heard in the Psych and suspected the article’s writer, Li Mi, was another Jiang sibling. Their investigation led them to the newspaper office, where the director explained that Li Mi was a freelance reporter who specialized in a column called "Haunted Mansion Notes."
They discovered her articles detailed many cases they had personally investigated, praising Qin Yiheng’s heroic efforts but notably omitting Jiang Shuo’s name, much to his chagrin. When asked for Li Mi’s address, the director provided "No. 28 Huaiyang Street"—the very address of the old Jiang family residence. This revelation puzzled them, as the house had been abandoned for years.
Qin Yiheng posited two possibilities: either Li Mi was deliberately concealing her true address, or the old residence was her childhood home. He also pondered the connection between the Jiang family and Liu Zhi. Meanwhile, Sergeant Bai and his team discovered a pile of bodies in the old Jiang family residence. The coroner concluded they had died of a plague, but there had been no recent plague outbreaks in Changshan, raising suspicions of foul play.
The next morning, Li Mi published a news report detailing the grim discovery, further deepening the mystery. Sun Zhi Long, the Qin family’s accountant and husband of Zhen Jiang Yan, confronted his wife after learning she married him for money. He accused her of secretly selling family assets for the Qin family and having a private bank account. Zhen Jiang Yan defiantly admitted she married him for financial gain.
She later informed Li Mi that an old ledger contained an unclear entry from the "Year of Ren Zi," which she believed was linked to the copper mine incident and implicated the Qin family. Li Mi wanted the ledger, but Zhen Jiang Yan refused, deeming it safer in her possession. Back in the church, Wan Jiang Shuo (now referred to as Jiang Shuo, the Jiang family member) met with his three sisters: Li Mi, Zhen Jiang Yan, and Shen Tian.
Li Mi scolded Jiang Shuo for his gambling habits, while Zhen Jiang Yan chastised Shen Tian for keeping the corpse files, warning that Qin Yiheng could use them as evidence against her. Shen Tian defended her actions, explaining that as a doctor, she needed to account for the bodies, keeping the records for their families. Zhen Jiang Yan, however, was cynical, believing vagrants had no families and Shen Tian had only jeopardized herself.
Shen Tian expressed her exhaustion from lying and her desire for the family to simply live together in peace, fulfilling their father’s wish. Li Mi, however, remained resolute in avenging their parents’ deaths. Zhen Jiang Yan advised Shen Tian to lie to the police, insisting she had burned the bodies, as some indeed were, promising that she and Li Mi would manage the rest.
Outside the church, Jiang Shuo confided in Zhang San, a man he had helped, who vowed to protect Shen Tian, his newfound "sister." Back at the hospital, Shen Tian’s colleague informed her that Mr. Qin’s medicine, provided by the Qin family, was in her cabinet. Recalling Qin Yiheng’s suspicions about his father’s medication, Shen Tian examined the "Barbital" and realized it was not the correct prescription for his condition.
She surmised that if Mr. Qin was truly complicit, he wouldn't have provided the actual medicine. Upon tasting one of the pills, she confirmed it was merely sugar. She immediately went to Pharmacist Zhang, requesting a real bottle of Barbital, fabricating a story about having spilled the previous batch. Meanwhile, Qin Yiheng spoke with his father, Mr. Qin, who was worried about several name lists from past cases they had handled and the situation with the Jiang family house.
Mr. Qin mentioned that the auction had been halted and questioned their decision to purchase the Jiang mansion, hinting at Liu Zhi’s involvement. Later, Sun Zhi Long frantically reported to Qin Yichi that an old account book was missing, prompting Qin Yichi to leave with him to address the issue. After Qin Yichi’s departure, Shen Tian entered Mr. Qin’s room, and after he had taken the actual medicine she provided, she discreetly retrieved some documents from his hand.
