Ding Xian blamed Zhou Siyue for joining Hongguang Tech without discussing it with her first, believing it wouldn’t benefit his future. But Zhou Siyue didn’t mind, as long as it was good for Ding Xian. That night, they agreed to sleep on separate sides of the bed, but neither could fall asleep. Zhou Siyue couldn’t help but reach out and hold Ding Xian’s hand, and Ding Xian responded by nestling into his embrace, eventually falling asleep peacefully.

The next day, Ding Xian’s roommates interrogated her, wanting to know what stage their relationship had reached. To their surprise, nothing had happened between them, which left the roommates disappointed, feeling their efforts to transform Ding Xian had been wasted. Just then, Ding Xian received a call saying that Zhou Siyue had been arrested by the police because Hongguang Tech was suspected of leaking secrets. The news quickly made headlines. When Zhou Siyue’s father found out, his condition suddenly worsened.

Ding Xian’s parents also called to check on her, telling her not to worry, or Zhou Siyue wouldn’t be at ease. President Ma told Su Bocong to make sure Zhou Siyue didn’t speak out about what he knew. At that moment, Ding Xian went to find Su Bocong and asked for his help. Unexpectedly, she saw many of the company’s collaboration projects with Huaqing on his desk.

That made Ding Xian instantly realize that Zhou Siyue had been set up by them. Ding Xian went to the hospital to visit Zhou Siyue’s father. Professor Ye told her that Zhou Siyue was the prime suspect since he was the only one who had contact with people from Chima Tech.

When Zhou Siyue was taken away, he had left a note for Professor Ye to give to Ding Xian, in which he comforted her and asked her to trust him. Zhou Siyue’s father’s surgery went well — a small piece of good news in an unfortunate situation. Professor Ye also hired a lawyer for Zhou Siyue, hoping to secure bail with strong evidence.

Su Bocong blamed President Ma, saying he shouldn’t have chosen Hongguang Tech over Zhou Siyue in the first place. He insisted they should hire the best lawyer — that would be their trump card. Zhou Siyue was released on bail and immediately called Ding Xian to come back. When she returned home, she saw Zhou Siyue asleep on the couch from exhaustion and didn’t want to disturb him. But Zhou Siyue sensed her presence, got up, and hugged her tightly.

Although they’d only been apart a few days, it felt like years. Zhou Siyue apologized, saying he had wanted to protect Ding Xian, but instead made her worry about him. Zhou Siyue told the lawyer that the people from Chima Tech were desperate to get him out because he knew too many of their secrets. The lawyer asked him to think carefully about who hated him enough to want to see him imprisoned.

Seeing Ding Xian getting ready to go out, Zhou Siyue assumed she was going to see Su Bocong and felt a little upset. Ding Xian reassured him she wouldn’t be meeting Su Bocong again. She also told Zhou Siyue that Dong Zhengfei had already signed with Chima Tech, confirming Zhou Siyue’s suspicion that Dong Zhengfei was behind all of it. Now, they were just waiting for him to show up.

Zhou Siyue used a string of code to lure Dong Zhengfei to the lab — if he didn’t come, his computer would be hacked. Zhou Siyue told him that what he was doing was illegal and he wouldn’t participate in it. Zhou Siyue explained that Professor Ye had applied for two overseas spots, so there was no competition between them.

Hearing this, Dong Zhengfei realized everything was over but still agreed to teach Zhou Siyue a few programming tricks — a sort of reconciliation and collaboration between the two. Su Bocong went to see President Ma, signaling the end of their cooperation. Then he went to find Ding Xian, and they reminisced about their childhood. Back then, they were innocent and pure-hearted. Su Bocong regretted not being able to stay true to himself and ending up like this.

But Ding Xian didn’t think he was a bad person — to her, he was still the good senior who had always helped her and could still return to who he used to be. Su Bocong gave Ding Xian a file and asked her to pass it to Zhou Siyue. Zhou Siyue’s father was discharged soon after, and their family moved back to Shenhail City.

Ding Xian stood upstairs waving at them, which reminded Zhou Siyue of the time Ding Xian’s family first moved to Shenhail — back then, it was him upstairs looking down at her. The roles were now reversed, but the scene remained the same. As they were moving in, Ding Xian’s parents also came to help, making the two families look harmonious and close.

Ding Xian saw a photo of You Keke injured but wearing a ring — it turned out Jiang Chen had proposed to her, making them the first among their friends to get engaged. This made Kong Shadi and Ding Xian envious, hoping their own Prince Charming would propose soon. Zhou Siyue took Ding Xian back to their high school to relive old memories and also wanted to introduce her to his parents.

This made Ding Xian a bit nervous, fearing they might think she wasn’t good enough for Zhou Siyue. But Zhou Siyue told her not to overthink — she was so outstanding that he might not even be worthy of her. Ding Xian’s mom chatted with Zhou Siyue’s mom and mentioned that Ding Xian now had a boyfriend.

Zhou Siyue’s mom was surprised and assumed that since Ding Xian already had a boyfriend, the childhood engagement arranged by the grandfather was no longer valid. She suggested to Ding Xian’s mom that they cancel the engagement. When Zhou Siyue overheard this, he told Ding Xian, making her heart anxious again.
